“I’m sorry!” a voice pleaded out loudly. “I didn’t know your nest was there. It was an honest mistake,” the young mare glanced over her shoulder to see three ravens swooping down from the forest’s canopy and towards her. Cassidy shrieked a cry as one just barely missed her flank. She exhaled a breath and quickened her pace. Unfortunately, she wasn’t the fastest Ceryeni and she would continuously stumble on loose debris on the forest floor. The ravens screeched louder and louder, swooping underneath and between the tree branches. Their beady eyes followed the mare as she made a sudden turn left. Cassidy huffed a breath and would wince each time her hooves stomped down onto the earth. She could feel her legs becoming more and more useless as the pain continued. “Dumb, stupid crows…” she muttered under her breath. The bells attached to her tail bounced and rang with her movement as she hurried throughout the forest. However, she could feel her pace becoming slower as her legs ached and burned. Just a little bit further Cassidy. You can lose these crows, she thought to herself as she quickly glanced over her shoulder again. The ravens cawed with their talons and claws directed towards her. They were fast…
Cassidy had just about turned her head to look in front of her (better to see where she was heading as not to run into a tree), when a black silhouette darted from the corner of her eye. She gasped a breath as the crow stretched its golden talons and clasped onto her mane. The young mare reared onto her hind legs and kicked out her forelegs with loud cries escaping from her vocals. “Get off!” she demanded loudly. The other crows scraped at her beautiful coat and pulled at her mane. She could feel a couple pecking at the bells on her tail. However, Cassidy had a hard time seeing how many crows there were and where they were because of her scruffy mane that did an excellent job at covering her eyes. She kept pleading loudly and crying as the ravens kept scratching her and pulling at her mane. Cassidy shrieked and tried to run away, but she was surrounded by the ravens and could barely see which way to go. At this point she was feeling rather hopeless.
