Name:Vesresh
Age: 22
Gender:Male
Sexual Orientation: Heterosexual, Panromantic
Craft/Rank: Wingrider
Description:

Vesresh is a handsome young man, somewhat on the thin side. He is very pale, with a generous allotment freckles betraying his time spent outside, most visible when he blushes. His vivid, coppery red hair, though kept short, is thick and ill behaved, cascading chaotically around his head no matter how he tries to force it into order. His face is round and delicately boned, with lively blue eyes and an exceptionally charming and sweet smile.

His preference is for loose robes and intricate decorations, with his rider's knots displayed prominently. He wears a few small pieces of jewelery – a necklace with a stone inside and a ring or two on his fingers, as well as a copper ear stud.

Personality:

Vesresh seems like an ideal – he is handsome and charming, sweet and sensitive, and a wonderfully enthusiastic conversationist. He loves social interaction and is suitably attentive to the needs of other people and, moreover, he is not confrontational.

This is not the whole story.

Vesresh's loyalty is not to his friends, or to the Weyr, but to his dragon, his family, and himself – in that order. He and his dragon are frequently engaged in private conversation, and he is also very close to his sisters and their dragons. His love for his sisters has never approached an unhealthy degree: It is, and will remain forever, the love of a little brother, filled with appreciation for his adoring older sisters and protectors. However, for all he cares, the Weyr could burn down with all his friends in it; As long as he and his sisters and their dragons are safe, he would feel no regrets, even if he started the fire himself.

That said, Esre is a generally good person for the most part... However, his dragon is not: She has been nurturing what little darkness he has deep inside of him, and her influence makes him capable of doing some very unpleasant things, if the situation called for it. Some of these things would surprise even him, but he knows that he would do anything for his sisters if it came to that.

He is possessed of a great creativity and a good mind, traits that don't merely make him capable of telling fascinating and fictional stories around the fire, also translate into a surprising degree of cunning. Though he might not defy someone to their face, he might do so stealthily if he felt it was deserved.

Mostly, though, he isn't so bold. In fact, for someone with an ambitious bonded, he is a surprisingly timid and modest man, not very good at standing up for himself in person. Though he has opinions he believes in strongly, he falls apart when expressing them, making him seem weak. Even though he considers himself to be all grown up, he still relies on his sister's protection. They are the ones he still runs to when he needs help, and the people he calls upon when his other more appropriate options fail.

An interesting note: He is very used to directly talking to dragons, a habit Mornhavonth dislikes, but tolerates. If he ever has a long term lover, it will be because he became interested in their dragon first.

Notes:

On Dragons: Vesresh loves dragons. He thinks they are, absolutely, the greatest beings ever. No matter what color they are, he is happy to spend time around them and fawn all over them, even when they aren't his own. And especially if they are.

On Whers: Vesresh is a little leery of whers. They are big and scary, and he is frankly a little sick of them.

On the War: The war was hell for young Vesresh. He lost friends and, worse, family in it. He never wants something like that to happen again. Never, ever again.

On the New World Order: Vesresh doesn't know if it's better or worse. He just wants things to not be bloody and violent, for at least a little while...
History:

Born to V'ron of Brown Blakarth and Messelin of Green Mumunyeth in Benden Weyr, Vesresh was the baby of a very active family. With two rambunctious older twins for sisters, and an older brother to boot, he was often babied. From a young age, he practically worshipped his parents and siblings. He, wide eyed and eager, soaked up stories of dragonriders and heroics whenever he could, and he imagined his family filling the roles in the stories. It wasn't hard. Though they were chromatic riders, his parents were still Riders, part of that ancient order of heroes that fought Thread and had amazing adventures. His siblings, too, fit the role of hero easily: they were older, stronger, wiser, and more able than he was: they were heroes.

Soon, his imagination progressed from simple substitution of characters in existing stories to imagining whole adventures where his family – sans him, the uninteresting one – had all kinds of adventures. It delighted him to think of these stories, and he could spend hours just daydreaming, exploring the universe as he knew it through these people who were becoming his characters.

Of course, this only became more vivid as Thread returned and his parents began to fight it, like in the legends. He never thought about the danger, and they were fortunate enough to not be badly hurt during Threadfall.

If the Wherhold revolution hadn't come when he was nine, he would have very likely been sent to a Harper hall for an apprenticeship. But with the wherhold's version of equality came a chaos, and Vesresh's idyllic, innocent, creativity-encircled reality became a little too real. Whers roamed the weyr and people fought duels. Thread was more than just what riders fought, and whers more than just watchdogs, and swords were truly sharp. Vesresh was not good at handling that kind of violence and so he retreated behind his family, holding onto them for comfort. By the time the dust cleared, it was decided that he wasn't ready to be sent away – he needed his family too much.

To his parent's great relief, over the next few turns, Vesresh grew used to life in Benden Wherhold. They decided that he would at least reach candidate age before any money would be put towards his apprenticeship: they wanted to be sure they weren't going to spend a large wad of marks only to have him return because he was homesick.

For reasons that even his parents were unable to articulate, they weren't expecting there to actually be a clutch when he turned 12. When Bandhidheth and the Crimson flew, they were surprised. At the prospect of a Hatching and of Standing with his sisters, Vesresh was, for the first time in years, completely and unahesitatingly delighted. Believing it to be good for him, they let him – at the age of twelve – become a candidate to Stand for the clutch.

He did not impress in that clutch, though his sisters both impressed around him. He became very active in the care of their dragons – a Green and a Gold – and the dragons became very used to having him around. So much so, that they even bespoke him.

Not being HAD, Vesresh was fortunately spared from constant and maddening chatter. However, voices in one's head that are not from one's bonded are difficult for the unprepared mind to manage even when it is only two that are well known very well. Vesresh suffered from many headaches, but he eventually grew accustomed to his sister's dragons; So accustomed that, when Banshidheth rose and clutched again, he barely realized his own impression at first. It did not help that Mornhavonth was a crimson, weakened from her hatching attempts and far too exhausted to be her usual villainous and possessive self. As she recovered, however, the darker aspects of her personality began to unfold. It became clear to Vesresh that his bondmate, the new love of his life, wanted to rule in a very villainous way...

Unfortunately for Mornhavonth, ruling the world – or the Wherhold – would have to wait. She suffered from constant bouts of sickness, the usual frustrations of being an Atypical. Mornhavonth was frustrated, but her rider's kindness and diligence brought her through her turbulent youth and she grew up well, with a new appreciation for the virtues that she did not share with her rider.

The raid on Benden forced the young pair out of their home. Vosin and Killakeeth were injured and left for Trine. They arranged for the youngsters to come with her. At Trine, the pair struggled to acclimate and rebalanced themselves. Neither liked change – Vesresh had had too much change over the course of his short life, and Mornhavonth did not like it when things were not under her control. They relied, heavily, on their family and became increasingly close during that time, taking solace in their strong bond with each other.

When the time came for the pair to decide whether to chew firestone or not, Mornhavonth initially wanted to do so. The idea of being a fire breathing warrior appealed to her need for power. Vesresh, however, did not want to be a warrior or a dragonrider - he was through with fighting and no longer wished to be a hero of any sort. Instead, he implored Mornhavonth to become a breeder crimson. In part, it was out of a sort of cowardice: Vesresh did not want to fight. However, it was also out of a desire to emulate his queenriding sister. After some convincing and discussion, Mornhavonth eventually understood his needs and deferred to his wishes.

For the remainder of the Wherwars, Vesresh and Mornhavonth kept out of the fighting, settling into their new home. Though she Rose and Flew well, Morn did not clutch and this was fine with her. She used her time productively, beginning to make connections. Even as the intrinsic ruling value of a breeding dragon began to diminish, she found that she had made the right decision after all. Being a potential mother, after all, gave her some power over the future, and opened doors that would not have otherwise been there.

The Fall of the Golds made things better for the pair. They both had something they wanted – Mornhavonth had more power, and Vesresh had his sister's dragon's happiness at being freed from her queenly role.

As Vesresh grew out of his teenage years and entered proper adulthood, the pair really began to settle into a comfortable life, Vesresh working as a clerk in the Weyr while Mornhavonth fell to her schemes and plots and plans. Both never forgot that they were not home, nor that they each wanted something a little more out of life...

And perhaps, if they were patient, they would get it.

Name: Mornhavonth
Age: 8
Colour: Crimson
Build/Size: Average/Average
Description:

Mornhavonth is a masculine crimson, with angular and visible bone structure and a muscular frame. There is always a little red, orange, or purple dancing in her eyes, and she always appears to be smiling, in a very sharp, predatory way.

Her patternings are uneven. A dark red, mottled pattern covers her body: she has a large spot around one of her eyes, and a swath of this same color that covers half of her body and part of her tail in a toga-like impression that leaves her legs free of patterning. The skin of the 'thumb' claws on her wings to the first joint is a very bright red, with some speckling in the wing membrane near it and on the second joint of her wings, making her wings flash a bright red when she flaps them.

Personality:

Mornhavonth is brilliant and glib, loyal to her friends and ruthless to her enemies. She thrives on politics and power and, in the new weyr structure, she knows she can become a force to be reckoned with.

Neither her hunger for power nor her ravenous curiosity can be sated, but she stops at very little to try. She likes to desire things, and she likes to get them for herself. She is creative in getting her way, making her a dangerous dragon to cross.

Outwardly charming, and sometimes even cheerfully optimistic, Mornhavonth has a lot of darkness beneath, a darkness that she does try to keep from her generally sweet-hearted rider. Although she has corrupted him significantly, she has learned to appreciate his virtues a great deal, things like kindness and love which she herself lacks.

Of course she loves her rider – Their bond is strong she will hurt any who wrong him. But the bond is not truly 'love' in the sense that She has an appreciation for people and their value to her, or their lack of value, and she is fond of some people – especially Killakeeth. But love... the kind that her rider feels for her and for others... she has never been able to feel it.

Initially, Mornhavonth actually wanted to chew firestone and fight to rise through the ranks like the powerful beast that she is. But her rider did not want that, and she conceded to his wishes. When she's in the air, Rising to be Chased, master of any dragon who dares to fly her, she knows that in the end her rider made the right decision.

A creature of pride, cunning, and calculation, Mornhavonth is a young villain who desires to be a tyrant, and she will not allow anyone to stop her from taking the power she deserves. Someday.

Other: Mornhavonth is a breeder.

On Dragons: Dragons and their riders make excellent connections and valuable tools.

On Whers: Whers are very dangerous. Having a wherhandler on her side would be ideal.

On the War: The war was hectic and Mornhavonth, fresh out of her shell, was not ready for it. Should another bloody conflict come again, however, she might be able to ride it's waves...

On the New World Order: A lot of doors were opened to her after the fall of the Golds, but there is only one role she wants – their old job.

Looks pretty good! Just a few things!

Atypicals do not have the strength to break their shells when hatching, even after the first whack - they do try, though, and this is what wears them out before they properly hatch. She wouldn't have the strength to parade over and lay claim but he could run to her once he realized what was going on perhaps!

The other concern I had was in regards to her Breeding choice. I like how you deal with it in his history but then you mention she has regrets in her personality - this indicates there is still discord between them when it comes to the choice. A dragonpair is psychically connected, they feel each other's pain, pleasure, worry, and regret to name but a few things so if she was honestly regretful of the decision, he would feel that nagging emotion and it wouldn't be good for either of them. Therefore, I would like you to remove her regret.

Adjust these and you're good to go! I'm looking forward to the trouble they'll get in to!

Reading over Esre like you asked.

I don't think Vosin/Killakeeth would have been in really a position to take him to Trine, but seeing his sister wounded he could certainly have tagged along? How old was she when the raid on benden occurred? Did they make the choice to be a breeder at Trine or Benden?

For Morn: You say she lacks virtues like kindness and love, but then say she loves her rider. Does she love him (in which case she does know love), only him, or loves him more an object to get what she wants?
Why is she fond of Killa?

Other than those I have no issues. ^_^
