Someone had finally found out about his talents. He supposed it would have had to happen sooner or later.

But they sent him out into the towns where... he was honestly disappointed. It was terrible out here. clearly the upkeep was not being done at all. (Or so he though Clyde didn't realize how much destruction had happened recently)

Half the building were falling apart, some looked like they had been partially demolished. It was a bit over whelming to start with. They had told him to work on it, but the first day, he spent his time simply looking around the towns trying to decide where to start. Some of the buildings he simply put an x on the door frame of, and others he left alone. The Xs were ones that he would simply take down later.

To start though he would work on this one. He chose a building close to the other less damaged ones. On the second day of his job that was when he actually started doing things. The morning was spent gathering materials and measuring Making use of Vanessa. She seemed content to be stretched out once in a while as he worked. At first he felt a little awkward using a living being this way but soon he got over it. She was content and seemed to simply watch.

As the morning cool burned off on he stripped down to the bare minim. Normally things like a shirt should be worn while working but Clyde prioritized comfort over safety. Besides Van had assured him he would be fine and she would keep him safe. And odd idea but he trusted her.

And then he was back to work taking down the part of the wall he was working on, stripping with the back of his hammer.

This would be the first time Maebe had actually taken the renovation shift, and shown up to it. She almost feared she'd see the only other Moon that she knew liked to do manual work, but she was trying to be more responsible, even if it meant really nasty splinters and being in the sun and sweating and-

A silver lining presented itself in the curves and digs of a young man's abs. Someone was already working on a building in Towns, and Maebe took a minute to drink that sight in. He was eye porn, and she probably should have reported him to the authorities for it, but instead she disappeared inside of a different house.

Several minutes later, Maebe returned, folding out a lounge chair that she'd acquired and laying down in it. She pulled out the bottle of water she'd brought for hydration, and snapped it open. Her glasses did nothing to hide the sun, but at least they made sure she could see the details of the sweaty construction worker as he did his job.

Which she wasn't doing.

At all.

But she'd shown up.

Clyde was unaware that he was being eyed. Instead he worked on stripping, ripping down the boards with a practiced ease that said he had done this many times before. He wasn't even aware of if or when they other people were supposed to work on this with him. He sometimes found it easier to work alone on some projects. When he was hired to do small projects he usually did things alone.

And he wasn't aware of any construction team, and from the looks of all the buildings there wasn't much organization put into this. There were patches that were just half done.

After a few minutes of work and sweat he realized he was being watched. He plopped down a hammer and walks over pulling his hair out and pining it back again. "Hey do you have any of that water for me?" he already drank what he brought. It was hotter than he anticipated.

Good God, he was walking towards her. Either he was going to chew her out for not doing her job, or he was going to flex his muscles to the tune of Oh, Susanna -

Or a third option, which was to ask for water.

"Sure. I have two bottles for you." She offered, pulling them both out of her knapsack. She threw one at him quickly, relying on his instinct to catch it. "One for you to drink," She started out, as she twisted open the second bottle. "And one for.."

Very carefully, she dumped the second bottle of water over his head. She waited until it was completely empty, before dropping the bottle on the ground, and pulling out her cell phone. Yes, this was a Kodak moment.

"Say cheese," She muttered in a chuckle.

Clyde Casually waited and his hand snapped up to catch the water bottle. He didn't even get out the word thanks before he was dumped. A moment passed and then two before he straightened up and tried to get the water down his back a hand subconsciously coming up to make sure it got down his chest. Man it was hot today. That or maybe it was just him trying to get back into work mode after being stationary for who knows how long.

Wait was she taking a picture? he gave her a blank look, unsure for a moment before trying to pop a smile. "Generally people ask first. Either way thanks for the water." he opened the bottle his his hand, not really caring if she took half a dozen or so more pictured. He got about half of it down before he stopped. "So what brings you all the way out here?"

"I'm doing some survey work. Trying to find a project that suits me before I dig in." She lied smoothly, backing up to sit back down in her lounge chair. "You know. Research."

She became immediately engrossed in her phone, as someone pinged back with the man's twitter name, and the fact that he looked good. Maebe clicked on the account, and suddenly became more informed.

"Clyde, is it?" She murmured thoughtfully. "Wow, you are new. Fresh meat. Welcome to the team, buddy." She cheered him with her water bottle, and then drank from it again.

"Servery work." he nodded and didn't press the issue. It looked more like she was enjoying her time in the sun and taking a nice break while watching other people work. Good for her. If she could get paid to do that... why not right? "If you need any help, let me know." he offered, not expecting her to need him. she seemed a bit too comfortable there. But if she said she and he were working together, he didn't mind.

Though it seemed she actually was doing something. "Oh? I'm impressed that you found my name so fast... yes I'm new thank you." he capped his drink and tossed it between his hands casually.

"It's the intranet, sweetheart." She reminded him, waving her phone lazily. "Power of connection. Nora says you're looking good, by the way." She returned to her phone, typing away on it and occasionally looking up at him.

"You look really at home working on buildings. Is that like, your thing? It would explain all that.." She waved her hand at the general direction of his body. "That."

"This isn't the first project I've done." he shrugged and took another sip of the water. "and I suppose it is, I didn't hide anything from the twitter. No point, actually it seems to be already doing it's job, getting me connected. Plus I've been able to learn a lot."

What was she waving too. "I'm sorry what exactly does it explain?" he didn't think to look a little lower. Yes those were abs thank you very much. And hard earned. Instead he looked over his shoulder. "Oh you mean the patch job? It's not the best, really, but it's the best I can do considering the materials."

She gave him a minute to try and figure it out on his own - and when he failed miserably, she snickered.

"I meant the six pack, sweetheart. The ladder you have sitting on your abdomen. Your muscles. They are well earned from hard work, was my guess. So that's nice."

She had only looked up from her phone to say that, and her eyes immediately fell back downward, as the phone lifted - and she snapped another picture. Just the abs this time.

Oh that kind of work. Women noticed him sometimes because of this. Around here he supposed this was the best scenery they had.

"Do you think I could use that ladder to climb the house?" he watched her take another photo. "Do you want me to pose for you." he laughed amused at the clicks he hear on the phone. no one pointed it like that without taking a photo.

"No, posing isn't half as fun. I like to catch them in motion." She put the phone down, but she clearly wasn't shy about admitting that was what she had been doing. She took another sip of her water bottle, and leaned back carefully on her chair.

"If you use the ladder, be careful. Nothing around here is very sturdy. Except you, of course."

"Oh?" he twisted away from her in a spin on his heel. "Then I'll play hard to catch shall I?" he didn't really care one way or another but if she was amused, who was he to ruin her entertainment.

"I have already taken note of that. Not to worry, I'll build a good foundation on my first building after the repairs... there sure are a lot of those though. I'm not sure it will do the place much good." he mused staring around at all the buildings. "Looks like pretty much all of them need done from the ground up." he said in all seriousness. Maybe they needed a different design if what he heard was true about there being attacks all the time.

Yes he was aware that it was meant to be a joke... but he couldn't help but take that last comment seriously.

Without even looking, the phone snapped another shot as he swirled around. Back end shot. "You do that kind of thing? Like, build the foundation or whatever? I bet that's why they sent you out here first. I thought we were just supposed to spackle some walls. I'm not a foundation kind of girl - I break them faster than I can make them." She finished her bottle of water, and put it away. "So, okay. Pick out one of these houses. Tell me you're going to start it from like, the foundation up. And when I turn hunter, I'm totally going to snag it, because I know my buddy Clyde knew what he was doing when he made it." She got up out of her seat, and patted his shoulder lightly.

"Don't worry. I won't make hunter for a long, long time."

"Sure where do you want it? From the way the damage looks I'd say somewhere in that zone would be safest." he waved a hand towards some of the older buildings.

"Hey don't worry about it. Persistence is more important then doing everything at once with that sort of thing. Besides it's better to build a good foundation for both your house and your life to stand a top of then to build a half assed one and have to start all over." Said the drifter who previously never stayed in one spot for more than a year.

"I'll keep you in mind when I start it. Tell all the little things you want... I'll do my best and work on it between patch jobs." they wanted him to repair houses, and the point was to make them usable again. He could take the time to make sure they were build good and solid. Though it seemed some research was in order. How to make them better able to withstand monsters.

Clyde always liked doing good work. If he had someone in mind for his first ground up job, all the better.
