"Mic, how many of those shiny water pebbles did you collect this morning?" A soft voice rang through the daytime air, breaking the silence that had stood only moments before. It was a lazy afternoon, she had decided, after her wolf companion had gone off and done the 'dirty work' for her. The pair had, a long time ago, begun to set up a trading system where she could easily gain access to all the pretty items that the world had to offer, and didn't have to steal as often as she used to - they had stumbled across pearls in the ocean - or shiny water pebbles as Jocelyn called them - and collected as many as they could find. In turn, Soquili and various creatures of the land had occasionally traded their possessions away in order to get those pearls. They were suckers - all of them! Suckers! Shiny water pebbles, in return for gold? Ha! In return for necklaces, feathered caps - what have you - ha! Suckers! It was a wondrous experience, and not one that Jocelyn was willing to give up so easily. She had gotten Mickey to scare of any and all competition when they came and searched for the shiny water pebbles themselves, but sometimes her enemies couldn't be fended off for good. So in time, the pair had traveled to a new location, and made a home near an otherwise deserted part of the ocean. The two of them were then alone in their hunt for the trade-able items, and Jocelyn no longer had to worry about petty theft.
At least, not all the time. Theft was a specialty of hers, and she couldn't just stop on account of an easier way to obtain treasure. Every so often, she'd venture out, Mickey in tow, and steal from the stupid little creatures of the land - adding whatever treasures she could find to her little collection of items. She had multiples of items - whether they were nature-made, two-legger made, or something in between, and she collected it simply because it pleased her. Jocelyn needed them - they were an obsession at this point, and they were so meticulously placed, that any disorder would drive her into a fit and she'd go on a rampage looking for more.
It was a problem, she realized, so the trading system she had set up was a nice fix for it - for the time being. Soquili that lived near her home had grown accustomed to what she was doing, and didn't trade with her as often, so it did force her to look further, at times.
"Not much, unfortunately." Mickey piped back, the bags he carried with him almost empty save for a few objects. He had instead collected regular pebbles, seeing as those too gave Jocelyn a bit of satisfaction. He was her loving and willing lapdog, to put it nicely - always willing to do whatever it took to please her. They were, after all, in it together! Anything she collected was his, just as much.
"Very well. We'll have to go elsewhere today." Careful not to move a single item, Jocelyn picked herself up off her pile of treasure, and looked to the west - further away from the ocean coastline and deeper into the land. Perhaps there were others who knew not what she did, and she could sucker them into a trade or two....
