Graveyard: +25 to ghost and dark attacks. In this particular field selection, the stadium ceiling is shut tight, covering the entire inner area of the stadium in a veil of pure darkness. The ordinary dirt field is swapped out for a field full of grave stones scattered across the lifeless soil. Near the northern end of the battle field, a single withered tree stands hunched over as though in constant mourning of those who rest for eternity here. A dense fog weaves in and out of the headstones and hinders vision. The fog itself seems damp and heavy, like the tears of the living mourning for the lost.

Merle gave a grimace as she looked out over the field, hands coming up to rub a bit at her arms. Oh yuck. This was sure to go smoothly. Magic sat on her shoulder, the small bird unconcerned with the looks of the stadium.
"Be careful out there. No brave-birding out there. Got me?"
An answering trill, one that settled Merle's nerves. Now they just needed to await their opponent.

Lenore looked around at the field and nodded silently to herself before turning to face Zarya. "Wanna try this one on your own?" The mismagius looked around tentatively before burying her face in her collar and nodding imperceptibly. Lenore smiled softly. "Alright, good luck."

Zarya floated down to the graveyard, her nerves getting to her. She had never battled on her own before, but every one of Lenore's other pokemon had done so at least once, so she wanted to try. Gathering her resolve, she looked across the foggy field at the pidgey and sent an arcing blast of lightning at it.

Magic had just taken flight a few moments earlier, the small pidgey circling the field. Lo and behold, that had allowed her competitor to locate and fire off the first move of the battle.
The bolt arced up and hit the bird spot on, sending it tumbling down a ways before it pulled itself up and resumed soaring.
"Let's give 'em a taste of their own medicine! Use pursuit!"
Not even making a noise, Magic dived toward the Mismagius, sharp beak aimed right for the ghost type.

Zarya was jabbed by the sharp beak, and she floated backwards, panicked. Calming herself, she fired another thunderbolt at the pidgey before floating around the tree to see about creating distance.

A screech rose from the pidgey, the electricity that pulsed through the bird that time really hurt! It was almost enough to bring her down. There was a long moment of free fall before Magic pulled up again.
"Way to take it on the chin!" Merle was all but bouncing a bit as she cheered her partner on. "Dish it right back with another helping of Pursuit!"

Zarya was nearly run through by the powerful peck, and she quickly retreated again, this time behind a tombstone. Floating up, she fired a bolt of lightning at the pidgey before floating back down.

Magic was up and moving away, the bird 'hoofing it ' as fast as she could. She didn't want to meet with a bolt up close. The bolt streaked passed over her shoulder, just missing her, though the rumble that followed the attack had her shuddering.
Circling around, she got a bead on her opponent and with Merle's call of "Again!", she was streaking back down to attack Zarya once more.

The bolt struck Magic, sending her fluttering to the ground, the small bird really feeling it. Especially as the electricity continued to crackle over her, muscles fluttering as they constricted and relaxed. Not a very nice feeling.
Crud, crud, crud! This surely looked to be the end of it, however, there was one last chance.
"Magic! We have just a bit further to go. Give me a Mirror Move!"
Forcing her head up, Magic fixed her gaze on her opponent. It was now or never!

The bolt hit, leaving the paralyzed pidgey sprawled out on the ground. A knock out. A red light surrounded the downed Pokemon as it was recalled to it's ball.
"You did fantastic, Magic. A real trooper." She soothed to the ball before looking across to her opponent's pokemon. "What a wonderful match! You're an electric powerhouse and I hope we'll do battle again!"
