"Door's unlocked," came the lazy sounding voice of Chance from inside.

Otto burst in. "You lazy a**." He grumbled, not bothering to close the door. "C'mon. It's time we got this boring a** jail cell up to snuff."

He was on his bed, in the middle of reading a book about the history of Ptolemy, dressed in a pair of worn jeans and a galaxy print teeshirt. Chance dragged his gaze up to Otto.
"You could have just walked in, you know," he pointed out, closing the book. "We're doing what now, exactly?"

"Yeah well... whatever, I guess I know that now." What if he walked in on him changing or something though? Oh well, whatever. "We're going out. You got a day of leave yet?"

"The door's always unlocked for you," said Chance mildly, as he swung his legs over the side of the bed. "Or you can still knock, whichever is fine by me."
He stood up and stretched, twisting from side to side to work out the kinks.
"I do, yes. Had an idea in mind for how I should spend it?"

"Yup." He crossed his arms. "Just follow me. We're going shopping." He had plans. Glorious plans. Chance's room was a blank canvas, desperate for paint, or notes. "I figured out some easy ways to make your room feel less like a padded room." It went from being described as a jail cell to a padded room. He seemed fairly sure of himself, despite the sullen expression. He walked out of the room, fully expecting Chance to follow. "A rug, for starters. Also, like, a floor cushion. And like I said before, you need more damn pillows." Curtains, maybe some bedding. And he definitely needed paint. Or at the very least, some wall stickers. "Few months ago I was out gettin' new clothes, and for some reason the girls sections always had, like, friggin star and galaxy print everything. It's like some weirdo fad. So I figure it'll be available in everything else too."

Chance tugged on a pair of shoes and obediently followed Otto out of the room. "Are you saying I'm a bad decorator?" he said in a deadpan voice, pausing in the doorway to reach down and adjust one of his shoes, which hadn't been pulled on fully.
He perked up at the idea of galaxy print, though. And more pillows, definitely more pillows.
"It's a good thing I never spend any of my money," said Chance dryly, but he seemed pretty excited about going out anyway, his eyes alight with a kind of pleasure that was usually reserved for late night, starry observations. He fell into step easily beside Otto.
"Where are we gonna go?"

"Yes." He said bluntly. Yes, he was calling you a bad decorator. "In fact, I'm pretty sure there ain't nuthin' decorated about that place." Save for the stars on the ceiling. "Ikea. That's where I got the room layout idea for my room. I ain't creative enough o think that s**t up on my own."

He made a face.
"Hey, there's a telescope," said Chance indignantly, which didn't even count because that had been a gift. "And, you know, a picture." One picture. "And some stars on the ceiling, those plastic glow-in-the-dark ones." That were technically for children, but since Chance was childlike in certain respects anyway...
"I've never been to Ikea."

"Ikea might not be your cup of tea." He said, mournfully patting the man's shoulder. "It has style." He grinned up at Chance. "Somethin' you sorely lack."

His mouth fell open.
"You little s**t," Chance said, laughing in spite of himself, batting at Otto's hand. "I've got plenty of style, thank you very much. It's just redirected to things other than my room."

Otto smirked. He did like attempting to rile Chance up, even if it was only by a teeny tiny bit. The man was unshakable. "Uh huh. Excuses." Otto murmured, his head held a little higher in smug confidence. They left the main building, out into the sun. A wall of heat hit them immediately, and Otto's confident stride turned into a sagging drag of his feet. "Uuuggghhhh....."

He sputtered a little. "You're just acting incorrigible on purpose now," said Chance accusingly, pointing a finger at Otto. "Really, you know how much class and style I actually have."
There was a smirk on his face as they stepped outside, and Chance lifted a hand, waving at his face.
"Please tell me we're going somewhere less disgustingly hot."

"Is there anywhere that's got an Ikea that ain't?" He grumbled, pulling the fabric of his shirt away from his body. "Anywhere's gotta be better than the Bermuda Triangle." They were pretty much living on a tropical island, right?
