Nuri was out in the wilds once more, this time traveling to an Oban army camp near the Matori border. There was no threat of war, but often they would set up camps to show their power and discourage others from venturing too far inland. It was necessary, considering how fresh the wounds were with all nationalities in Tendaji.
Reports stated that there were a few wild Perzi going through the stores at the camp, leaving the Obans disgruntled and cranky. Considering his last few interactions, Nuri was not too excited about the idea of Perzi hunting, as the creatures had bested him more often than not.
When he finally arrived to the camp, he found a bunch of soldiers crowded around a makeshift cage. He fought the urge to groan as he walked over with Naraka, all but shoving through to see the two Perzi hissing and spitting.
"When you sent word that there was a problem, we directed you to not engage!" He growled out after a moment, knowing the fools made his job infinitely more difficult.
"Well you took too long, beastboy, and we saw the chance to catch it ourselves."
Nuri ignored the words, knowing some saw them as weak for fighting with creatures instead of their own hands. Either way, he snapped out his whip with a harsh crack and glared at the speaker, "Yes, please make it harder to deal with them by closing them off in a non-transportable cage and mocking them to a frenzy. How very astute of you."
He ignored their squawking and shook his head, "Get out of here and let me do my job, or else I'll speak to the superiors and let them know you'd rather play with pets than keep our borders safe."
As they walked away, he was quite happy with his threat. He had a job to do, and they were just in the way.
Turning, he debated how he would do this, and simply decided to hit the cage off of them. It was light enough, and he should be able to grab it with his whip and lift it high enough. Moving to corral them away from the main camp and toward the exit, he quickly acted and pulled the cage to its side, watching as one scampered off in the right direction.
The other, however, grew angry and hissed, moving to strike. Nuri moved out of the way and shouted for Naraka to jump in his place, scaring the creature a moment before he snapped his whip and began to encourage the animal to move back out of the camp. The other was nowhere to be seen, which was good enough for Nuri as he moved slowly away from the prying eyes and foolish Obans.
After a long few moments, they were fully out of the camp and in the light of the day, and Nuri found himself facing a frustrated Perzi that refused to run off. Well, if it didn't want to leave, maybe he could tame it and take it back himself. It was always worth a shot.

As they had their stand down in the sun, Nuri signaled for Naraka to move back. There was no need to appear as a threat, and he knew that Perzi were territorial and fickle creatures. Instead, he pulled out some dried meats that he brought just in case, and gently bent to his needs to make himself less threatening.
Letting out soft cooing noises, he threw a meat half-way between the two of them. The Perzi stiffened, but didn't move closer, and Nuri resisted the urge to roll his eyes. Instead, he tossed another bit of meat closer to the creature, watching for any signs of fear or frustration in the animal.
Another long silence and a stare down, and the Perzi looked somewhat interested. It didn't move closer, so Nuri tossed one last one right before the animal, and swore out loud as the creature startled and darted off into the rocks away from the camp. Groaning, Nuri fell back on his butt and looked over to Naraka, no words between them. Instead, he held out the rest of the meat for his familiar, and gave a frustrated smirk.
"Next time, I'm sure we will catch one...let's get out of the sand and head home."
