IC
The time had come... sooner than Rilind had thought, and at a time he wasn't expecting; but there he was... The hated one - the one he wanted to kill no matter the cost. His father.
Rilind had spotted his father, the one he swore to kill when he was stronger, near his new home with Yaholo and his kids. Would he follow the man and kill his father in cold blood? Or will he decide to let the ghosts of his past and revenge die and focus on the brighter things in life; his family.
Quest Tasks ||. The quest should begin with Rilind seeing what looks like his father, in an area that is near where his family lives. ||. It should include reflection on what this means to him, seeing his father now of all times when he is happy. ||. Rilind needs to confront his feelings and his past; does he kill in cold blood and get revenge, or does he let the man go and not be a murderer? ||. If he does go after his father; he will need to find a place and time to do it; if he does it too near the village, he will be seen. ||. If he decides to not kill his father, why not? ||. The quest should end with the outcome of his decision.

Part One: A Witu Amongst Aldabuk
The move to the village of Yera in Tale was something that had actually put Rilind at ease, allowing him to relax a bit, even easing his hold a bit on his boys to let them play outside without him hovering too close. His desire to keep his mate, the twins, and his children safe had seemingly been fulfilled now that they were far away from Jauhar and the rampaging Alkidike women that lived there. Let them have Jauhar, so long as they stayed in the forest away from his babies. The last thing he'd want to do after all was to have to move them again, especially now when they seemed happy. They were staying with their grandfather, who loved them, got to play with new pets that they were given, and overall it just seemed as though this was the better place for them to be. They were different, but the family didn't seem to care, not about their looks or the circumstances of their births, not in the manner that the Alkidike extremists did.
Allowing his children to grow up happy, that was what was the most important to Rilind, and he felt that they had finally found the place for that. Leaving the boys to play with the father Rilind had gone out, ready to hunt for something for dinner, knowing they needed enough to feed everyone in the family. Aldabuk seemed as though it would be the best thing to hunt, they had the most meat of the creatures that roamed tail, and if they got a bit male then that should be enough. He kind of liked bringing dinner home to the family, it always seemed to make people happy, and that was something that Rilind found he enjoyed. Providing for a family, it was something that he had found he was good at, something he wanted to continue to do. All thoughts of that though seemed to crumble away into nothingness when he heard a too familiar, too terrifying voice. It was a voice that made his heart skip a beat before his breathing started to get a bit erratic.
Stumbling to one side the young man leaned against the base of a tree, gulping for air, before looking in the direction of the voice. There he stood in all his terrifying, soul crushing glory, chatting with a villager in a manner that made him seem as though he were just another passerby. He was good at ingratiating himself with strangers, using them, before stabbing them in the back. Rilind was different though, special, the man had never see a reason to fake anything with him, instead treating him like less then dirt since he came to stay with him oh so many years ago. Of late the nightmares with his father starring as the main antagonist had started to fade, only popping up from time to time, and those nights where he woke up shaking Yaholo was there to help soothe away old fears. He had a feeling those dreams were going to be back in force after today.
The question then became what the man was doing here. Surely he hadn't come for Rilind, right? He had been declared dead, had a memorial up for Chi's sake. Surely that wasn't why he was here... so the question because what he was doing here. Should he try to figure it out? He could slip closer, get an earful, and get a feel for what the man was after. He knew for certain that it was nothing good. He never did anything for good reasons, only selfish ones, meaning that he was clearly after something and Rilind meant to figure out what it was. After he figured it out though what should he do? One hand strayed to the hilt of his weapon, resting there for a moment, and he seemed to be in heavy debate with himself. He could follow the man to somewhere there were no witnesses, use the skills he'd honed to the point, and he could kill him he realized.
How long had that been his dream? The one thing that had kept him going when he was younger and in pain? The thing that drove him when he was alone and scared in the wilds after running away from home. The desire to get strong and to make the man suffer for everything that he'd done to Rilind when he was younger. His hand tightened on one of his swords, his mind racing. It would be too easy and nobody had to know... and if he did the deed within the borders of Tale then it was likely the ones to find his body first would be the witu. Those beasts were always looking to score an easy meal and that would clean up any evidence that he'd killed the man. It was a good plan, one that would allow him to remove a horrible person from Tendaji, and it would protect his children from him as well. If the man were to ever figure out that Rilind was alive, if he were to figure out that he had kids, he would likely treat them as poorly as he had Ril. He wouldn't allow the man to get his dirty, violent hands on Rilind's sons. He'd be sure to chop them off first.
The man finished talking with the one he'd approached, seeming as though he were given directions to another location, and Rilind set to following along after him. He had to do this he thought to himself, it was for the best, and he could only hope that Yaholo forgave him for vanishing when he was supposed to be fetching dinner. He'd understand that this was more important then anything else, that protecting their sons from monsters was priority. At least that was what he hoped, the idea that he might end up disgusting Yaholo with his need for finality written in blood was a very real possibility... but he supposed that he would cross that bridge when he came to it. For now what mattered most was finding the perfect opportunity to strike him down.

Part Two: Bloodshed and Closure
Following along after the monster that was his father was something that was rather difficult for Rilind, maybe even the hardest thing that he'd done to date. The idea of having to tail him but not do anything, to stay his hand, it was near impossible. Especially when he wanted nothing more then to go straight at him without any sort of restraint... how a part of him wanted to just let loose on him with everything that he had. The problem being that by now the people of this village at least knew of Rilind. If he were to just randomly attack someone that, at least in their eyes was innocent, they would know exactly where to go to find him afterwards. Not to mention that they would bring the news of Rilind 'randomly attacking someone' right to Yaholo.
He really didn't want to drag his family into this. They were already involved enough just due to the fact that the man had left such a deep and lasting impression upon everything that Rilind had done before now. His ingrained fear caused him to guard his kids like a mother witu with her pups, ready to do what was needed to keep them safe up to and including forcing his mate and children to move from their home to a place that felt safer to Rilind. The moment he moved them though to get them to Yera this happened.
Teeth gritting a bit he started forward again, skulking along after the man once more. He would find his chance he thought to himself as he continued forward. He didn't want this person near his babies, they were so small and sweet, and as their father he had to get rid of the threat even if that got Rilind into trouble in doing so. If something happened to him went he went to deal with the man at least the boys would still have Yaholo to love and take care of them, not to mention the twins, and the rest of Yaholo's family as well. So long as he got rid of the man then that would be one less dangerous things to come after them while they were little and vulnerable to such monsters, right? Bad enough that they had to worry about the Alkidike, he didn't want them to have to deal with Rilind's father as well.
As he continued along after the man his steps started to falter a bit. Wait, was he really ready to just throw his life away like that? Wouldn't it better for him to get back to his family again? Would they think that he had abandoned them all? Would they hate him for it? He gave a soft, sighing sound. That wasn't all what he wanted... no, he just wanted to keep his family safe was all. He had to make sure that he got back safely to them, he couldn't do anything risky, had to go about this the right way. He had to consider everything, including how to keep himself safe He couldn't really throw himself into a battle without an exit strategy he told himself before he continued forward again.
As he did so the man gave paused, lifting his head slowly, before he turned, "I'd keep on going, I am the last person you want to rob." The man said in a threatening tone that caused Rilind to freeze in place, his mere voice causing him shivers. No, he couldn't let childhood fears get the best of him, he had to keep going and face him.
The man turned around to face him, starring at Rilind for a moment, before he started to laugh, "Ahh... hahahaha! Would you look at that? Here I was traveling to visit the grave of my little coward brat, and I find that you can't even die right. I should have known." The man said, his list twisting into a bit of a smirk.
Rilind gave a twitch before his hands went to his weapons, grabbing hold of their hilts, and drew them from their sheaths without a word. He couldn't let the man's words get to him, he had to keep his courage up and end this! Rilind drew in a breath before he lunged forward toward the man there in front of him, bringing his weapons down toward the man's head... only to get his weapons deflected by the weapon the man wielded. It threw Rilind backwards a few steps before he lifted his weapons again, aiming them at the man once more.
"Ah, so you want a fight them, brat?" The man asked, giving another laugh, "About time, I don't think you understand how much it disgusted me having you constantly running away and cowering like a kicked raptrix pup. I had always hoped you might get a spine and prove that my blood wasn't completely wasted on you." He said, thrusting forward with his spear, aiming for his son's arm. Rilind did his best to dodge but got a slice in his side despite it, perhaps a bit shaken by the man's words, but the pain helped him to get his mind back in the game again.
Normally Rilind would throw himself into the battle head on, taking down his opponent with much gusto. In those battles he tended to get himself injured though, just like with battle against the bug mages. This time around, instead of losing himself in the battle he was doing all he could to dodge each blow that came at him or deflecting him as well as taking shots only when he felt that he could do so without risking bodily harm. It was in no way how he normally fought and he felt as though he were being hindered. It would be worth it though, he would be able to make it back to his family without a bunch of horrible injuries... or at least that was the plan.
The battle with his father wasn't one that he would call easy, not by a long shot, if anything it was one of the more trying ones that he had go through to this point due to the caution he was forcing himself to take. It was difficult, but it was what needed to be done. Of course even as he tried to concentrate on the battle his father was doing his best to throw him off by openly mocking him as they fought.
"Not too bad, whelp, not as pathetic as I remember you being." The man said, his spear thrusting forward from time to time, taking shots where he saw openings. The battle seemed to be one that amused the older man almost as much as it enraged Rilind. Even as the man was getting countless wounds from Rilind he didn't seem to be backing down in any manner, something that was greatly annoying the red head. He knew what his father was up to though, trying to distract him and cause him to falter, but he wouldn't let the man's words get to him this time. He was no longer a scared child, he was no longer cowering in fear and praying that he wouldn't be noticed, today was the day he made up for all the fear and bodily harm this man had caused him!
Lunging forward when he saw an opening he brought his knee up into the man's midsection, one of his swords burying into the meat part of the man's shoulder in almost the same place that Rilind had been stabbed by a Dretch some time ago. The two of them hit the ground together, with Rilind on top. Drawing back his second sword he prepared to strike... when he found himself really looking down at the man. The look of him all cut up and bloodied, the air knocked from him, a sword buried in his shoulder, it seemed to do nothing to cause Rilind joy. He should be happy at the moment, right? He should celebrate the fact that he finally won and he finally had the opening and means to kill him as he'd dreamed about doing his whole life... and he found himself unable to make that killing blow.
"What's wrong, whelp? Still don't got it, do you? You're a weak and pathetic little pup, you always have been and you always will be. If I were in your shoes I'd of already removed my head." His father spat out at him, sounding disappointed through his pain.
Rilind's mind seemed to whirl, as he debated over doing just that. With a good enough blow he might actually be able to remove the man's head... but was that he wanted to do? Did he want to do something that his father claimed that he himself would do? Did he want to fall to his level and become the same sort of monster that he was? Giving an angry sound Rilind pushed himself to his feet, ripping his sword from the man's flesh, "I am not you! I never will be! I don't plan on doing any of the same monstrous things you did... at least not today. I am giving you one chance to leave Tale, go back to Zena, and forget you ever saw me." He spat out at the man, giving a flick of his wrist to knock free the blood that clung to his swords before sheathing them.
The man gave a hissing sound as he dragged his bloodied for to his feet, "And if I don't obey your orders, whelp?" He demanded of Rilind between gritted teeth.
Rilind snorted, "Then you won't have just to worry about me. I am not alone anymore, I have a real family, one that will back me up if you come too close to places you aren't welcome. The one you should really be worrying about is my mate Yaholo. If he learned you were here he'd likely smashes you to a fine paste with that giant hammer of his." He said, glancing toward Yera, then back again, "Leave now, it's the only chance you will get, a bit of mercy that you never sparred me." With that Rilind moved away from his father, not caring where the man went after this. He hoped that he'd proved his point, hoped that he would stay away from Yera and Ril's babies. If the man thought to return then either they would take up where they left off or Yaholo would smash him to bits, either way it would be a choice the man wouldn't live to regret.
Once he'd gotten a distance from the man Rilind found himself collapsing into a physically and emotionally exhausted heap. He would return home soon, after a bath, but for the moment he needed to rest or else he might either be sick or burst into tears... or both. It was kind of hard to tell at the moment given the emotions that were whirling violently within him. Much to his relief though during the time it took him to be able to get back to his feet his father didn't follow him to try to finish him off. In fact Rilind wouldn't see hide or hair of the man again once he'd recovered leaving him feeling confident that he'd made his point and could return home safely without fear of leading the monster back to his home.
