Cael looked out over the chest high railing of the trainers box, trying to find the other trainer. Kite still needed to practice battles, so he's signed them up for a few of the lower tier slots earlier. Kite scrambled through the bars and into it's place.

Jeo noticed the young trainer on the other side of the field and gave him a nod. She'd thought about smiling but knew her smiles didn't usually convey 'friendliness.'
Lorelei materialized on the field and gave herself a shake after Jeo threw her pokeball.

He smiled back, slightly worried. Thoguh, when he noticed the opponent pokemon, he brighten considerably. What a fluffy Pokemon! It looked kind of familiar? Maybe he should get a local guidebook, the Pokemon were so different form the ones up north. " Kite use-!" Lorelei's tail fluffed even more at the riolu's rush to her and she arched her back in a futile attempt to look menacing.
"No, not play!" she snapped. She took a deep breath and, with a slight glow and a yelp, let loose a small shock wave towards the pup.

Kite shuddered back and keened out a high pitched whine as the wave passed through it's body, leaving all it's balck an white fur standing on end. Questioningly, the riolu looked back at Cael and whimpered. The trainer stopped staring at the opponent pokemon and, with a guilty look, called, "Kite, use Cross -Chop!" Kite whined and shivered as another uncomfortable wave hit. "Keep at it, Kite!" Cael encouraged. it was working ok but it wasn't over yet. Kite looked dowtfull, but slunk around to swipe at the blonde opponent's flank. The pup's whine rose in pitch. Every single hair was on end. It's eyes crossed. It's ears rang. Cael fell bad admiring the opponent pokemon when his puppy was clearly very unhappy... He thought it might be an "eevee"? But it didn't seem to be the right color, even accounting for the referent text's faded pages and poor lighting. Maybe it was a "meowth"? " You can do it! That attack looks dangerous, though, so hit harder!" This time, the Riolu attacked with force, both paws swinging (awkwardly) towards the eevee.. Kite hunkered down and covered it's face, and the worst of the cacophonous attack passe it by, but it still sent eerie crackles uncomfortably down it's overly acute aura senses. "Good, Kite! Now attack again! Don't be afraid, it's not that big!" The puppy puddle looked back at it's trainer, with a clear "why do you make me do this" kind of expression, and looked uneasily for an opening to attack from. The riolu eventually snaked forward, ears back, and tried to land another punch. Lorelei huffed as her attack flowed harmlessly over Kite, and then yelped as the fighting type's punch landed squarely on her face. Kite grimaced, but it was getting used to the horrible feeling....mostly. It was still horrible. The puppy shook to clear it's head, and quickly swung again, but the attack lacked the speed it had, before.
