How could this happen? How could she be so careless?! Heart pounding, Eva tore through the halls, practically knocking over another hunter in the process. She faltered long enough to make sure that they were okay and apologize, but then she was off again, retracing her steps. The cafeteria, the training fields, the archive room...
What had gotten the woman in such a frenzy? The fact that she had misplaced one of her plushies. It was her favourite one too--an adorable, fat bird that had been among the many she had been given as a gift. She had brought the little fellow with during her months out at the outpost, and had decided to carry him around today because...why the hell not?
Apparently the answer to "why the hell not" was because she could potentially lose him. She knew that it seemed silly for a twenty-three year old woman to be so distressed over the disappearance of one plushie, but it had been so terribly special to her.
When ducking under the table she had been eating at at the cafeteria turned up zilch, Eva slowly straightened up with a dejected expression.phantompanther13 kasjhksf YOU CAN HAVE HIM FIND THE PLUSH or not it's up to you!!

What was that? There was something on the ground, it looked like a child's toy. There weren't any children here, as far as he knew. He picked up the toy and examined it. It was a fat bird, and obviously well loved. It was clean just clearly snuggled upon. Clyde couldn't just leave it out here. So he picked it up, and looked around. He wasn't sure what he was looking for. A child? A adult? Perhaps Shu? She seemed the type to own this kind of thing. Maybe he would take it to Shu and ask her who else would have it, but not before looking around just a minute first. Ah the Cafeteria, maybe someone in there would know it it was recent. He headed in.

Anyone who knew Eva would realize that something was wrong. Gone was the bright smile and the obnoxious cheer. She was hanging her head sadly, her bottom lip jutting out a little as she stared forlornly at the empty chair and clean cafeteria floors. Just where did she put him? What if she never found him?
Maybe she should do one more sweep of the places she had already checked. The woman made her way towards the cafeteria doors just as someone else entered. At first, she paid little mind to them, too distracted by her own thoughts...but then she realized what was in his hands.
The change was instantaneous. Eva's whole face lit up, her hands flying up to her mouth. "You found him!" she gasped, immediately stretching both hands out towards the bird plushie, "You found Chirp McChirpington!"
It was a miracle she wasn't embarrassed saying that aloud. Then again, that was just who Eva was, and she was far too relieved by the return of her beloved toy to care.

Clyde was once again running through ideas of who might have owned the fat bird. was it a duck? maybe a chicken? it was hard to tell with toys. Who could possibly, Clyde was suddenly assaulted with a shout as he walked in the door. He hadn't been paying as much attention as he should have and was nearly plowed over by the sheer energy of the girl he ran into. "Is this yours?" Clyde thrust out the stuffed animal, almost treating it like a shield, or a sacrificial offering, as if it would somehow protect himself from her. "Chirp McChirpington, found me outside. Your friend was very distressed and wanted me to look for you." he said in a way of play. The stuffed animal hadn't actually spoken to him. Then again with the way things were around here maybe it could, his guns/ tape measure could after all; either way he was sure to return it.

As soon as he offered the toy to her, Eva quickly reached out and gently retrieved her beloved bird from the stranger. Arms wrapping around the round little thing, she fondly pressed her cheek against its furry one before offering the hunter a happy grin. A laugh bubbled from her lips at his words, and she lowered the plush and held her hand out.
"Well then, I'm glad that he found you and that you brought him back!" she laughed again, giving Chirp a one-armed squeeze, "And I'm Eva, by the way, a death hunter! What's your name, kind stranger?"

Now that it was safe, Clyde leaned forward to shake. "I'm Clyde, I'm New... er moon division." It seemed divisions were more and more important. And all his friends seem to come from death or moon. "Do you collect stuffed animals, or is this one the one?" he took the conversation at hand and looked around. Seems the cafeteria was pretty quiet at the moment. Must be between meal rushes.

"Aah, nice to meet you, Clyde!" she smiled, giving his hand a firm squeeze before releasing it, "And new here, huh? Hope you've been finding everything okay."
"And I guess you can kind of call me a casual collector! A friend of mine gave me a ton as gifts a few years back, so my room is kind of just...full of them," she admitted, scratching at her cheek, "Chirp is just my favourite, so I'm really glad that you found and returned him for me." Gazing fondly at the fat bird, she kissed it on atop the head and squished her cheek against it once more.

"I've found all the basics. I'm good on that front." he replied casually. Truly his experiences up till now had all been pleasant. Or at least nothing too horrible. Everyone was so friendly here. "Sounds like a really good friend, if they gave you so many. How long have you been around here?" he watched with a bemused smile as she snuggled the stuffed toy. some small part of him admitted it was rather cute. A small instinct wanted to protect her and wondered why she was fighting monsters. Maybe she was a home base support... but from the damages, it looked like it wasn't much safer here. Not that he didn't believe she couldn't move if necessary, but, she seemed too ... nice? young? Something for this. But then again how old did you have to be to get into trouble? Age wasn't really a factor. He shrugged off the feeling.

"Good to hear that! Do let me know if there's anything I can help with though," she offered with a grin before nodding with enthusiasm, "And yeah. The friend who gave me these plushies is one of my best. We've known one another since we woke up in the pods!" Which was a long, long time ago.
"A long time" being... "About...three and a half years?" Eva answered, having taken a moment to think about it, "Nearing four. I've been here for quite a while, huh?" She grinned, brushing her hair behind her ear. To be fair though, nearly one and a half to two of those years had been spent out at outposts.

"Oh wow. That a long time to be friends. And a long time here. Do you enjoy it here?" He had to ask, she seemed so cheerful. In fact it was infectious making him smile as well. The mention of the pods made the hairs on the back of his neck stand up. He still got an uneasy feeling thinking about them. "What kinds of things do you do?" He tried to keep the conversation away for the mention of the pods.

"Mm, it has its good points and its bad points," she admitted with a smile and a shrug, "I love the people that I've met here. I don't love some of the missions though." It had taken her a long time to get over some of her most persistent nightmares, and even then they still liked to crop up every once in a while.
Cocking her head to the side, she lifted a hand and tapped a finger to her lips. "Are you asking about my duties? Because besides guard duty, I do a lot of paperwork and research. Nothing too terribly exciting, I don't think," she laughed, wrapping both arms around her toy again, "What about you though? How do you like it here so far?"

So she stayed safe most of the time. Good. He honestly was more and more curious about the missions. They were kind of why he came. "Paper work doesn't sound terribly exciting. It doesn't seem too bad from what I've seen but apparently I woke up right after some kind of big event ask me again in a few weeks."

"I was still at an outpost when things happened last week, so I'm a little in the dark there," she admitted, "But it definitely didn't seem good. My room was a bit of a mess when I got back." Eva grimaced a little at the memory of having to clean everything up. She had been hoping to just relax on her first day back, but of course things never worked out as she wanted them to.
Grinning, she leaned forward a little, pretty much placing herself inside his personal bubble. "Buuuut...if you want to hear about my very first mission here, I wouldn't mind telling you. To prep you." And because she just liked telling that story now that it was long past.

"At least we are equally in the dark." Clyde shrugged a bit. he didn't ever fully get the details. "Sure I would love to hear about your first mission. is this a long story? Maybe we should grab some drinks, we are right here after all." he waved his hand at the cafeteria.

"Not that long, but drinks sound like a good idea anyways," she grinned, hanging onto her plush with one hand and beckoning towards Clyde with the other, "Might not want to eat during this storytime, but drinks should be safe, yeah."
Now didn't that sound promising.
Eva weaved her way around the tables towards the kitchen area, making sure to keep an even pace so that she could walk alongside Clyde. As soon as they reached the cups, she grabbed two by the handles and glanced over at the man. "Water? Juice? Coffee?"
