With a resettling of her three sets of wings, the filly known as Teleri Lindāi glanced around her surroundings. As she looked around she gave a faint frown, eyes narrowing as she attempted to decode the wash of yellow-orange that made up the forest around her. Her trouble with colors made such things difficult, but she was too stubborn to let that stop her. Even if the forest was bewildering on her own, Teleri had no desire to wait at home in the nest until someone could go with her. Miela was too busy to go with her and act as a spotter, so she was practicing without one. While she couldn't gather the more softly-scented herbs, the strong ones and mushrooms were easy for her to find.
So the white filly wandered through the forest, muzzle to the ground as she sought out her prizes. The main strap of her pack rested around her neck, holding the pack at an angle so it rested under the fold of her wings. When she found a mushroom or even a particularly fetching pebble, she carefully plucked it and tucked it away into the Pack. The day was beginning to swim with summer sun and rising heat, but she stubbornly flattened her ears.
'Not done yet..' The filly decided, shaking herself from nose to tail and testing the weight of the pack. True enough she'd managed to find a few mushrooms and some wild thyme, and there was a faint clicking as the three pebbles she'd gathered chimed against each other. 'Not enough..'
Bowing her head, she snuffled along the forest floor, once more seeking the strong scent of mushrooms among the bright-spring scent of grass and the decay of leaf litter. If she had no luck in finding anymore, maybe she'd see if she could find a friend or two?
"But I'd really like another couple of pebbles first..."

It had been a long time since Lindt had been 'home' what exactly 'home' was, was still undefined. But he had a friend back there. A filly, named Teleri who was part of this herd called The Flock. Lindt would always go and visit her when he was back around in the area and when he had nowhere else to go and be, he always headed in her direction. He had been gone probably; twice as long as normal. He wondered if maybe his friend had grown worried or even forgotten about him after the months had gone by. But there was a lot of information out there for him to gather. And ever since he made that promise to her that he would search for answers out in the world about this 'spirit' of hers he found himself traveling farther and father.
But now he had only some news to bring her; and some of his own. He learned a little bit about himself too and he couldn't wait to share the information with Teleri. He hoped that she would be able to spend some time out with him to chat. Sometimes her herd would occupy a lot of her time or keep an eye on her. She had gotten good at sneaking out and warning him when to run and hide from the 'Harpies'. He was mostly afraid of them because they captured males! Lindt had no desire to be locked away in a herd like that. Though, being able to hang out and play with Teleri everyday didn't sound like a bad idea.
Ah he entered The Flocks territory, he pulled his wings in tight and walked as quietly as he could. His bright crystal blue eyes glanced around looking for adults but there didn't seem to be any. Now he just needed to fin- Well that wasn't hard at all. He stayed in the shadows of the trees that were created by the sun. Teleri was nose to the ground over there.
"Pssst~!" He hissed at her.

Teleri made a low sound of delight as she stumbled across a cluster of pebbles tangled in the roots of an old tree. She picked through them carefully, selecting a white stone glimmering with flecks of silver. That went into the pouch quickly, along with a deep brown stone that was streaked gold. There was a rough piece of granite that she picked too, if only to use as a tool when making her projects.
"Not what I was looking for, but still good." She muttered, pleased with herself as she straightened again. "A decent gathering for the day."
Teleri liked to stay busy, in any way she could, and there was only so much time she could spend in music lessons a day. When those were done, and she'd rested and wandered and splashed in the stream and played with her sisters and so on... She wandered, usually with a pack and a plan to gather herbs and such... And almost always at the borders of the Flock lands, usually straying to the immediate outlands too.
Which she'd probably get in trouble for, one day, but mostly she didn't mind. All of her friends lived outside of the Flock, and while she couldn't see them as often as she liked, she tried to see them as often as she could. And though it was difficult, she tried not to be upset when they weren't about to meet on her wanderings. They had families and herds that required their time, and she understood that. Even Lindt, who was searching for information on his herd and his parents, couldn't always be there to visit with her.
Disappointing, but understandable.
Though part of her was curious to hear what Lindt had learned in his wanderings, mostly she just wanted to see her best friend again. True enough, he would probably have some stories about what he saw on his adventures and maybe even news about his family. If they were both lucky, he may even have information about the strange white spirit that was her father.
But all of that mattered a lot less than just being able to visit her best friend.
Still, she never thought about letting the Flock catch Lindt or any of the others she was friends with. They were happier free or with their families or herds and she knew that. Instead of doing as was expected and trying to capture them, she did her best to warn them off if it seemed like the Flock was closing in to take her back to the Nest. So far their system of symbols and message-passing was working well.
Thinking she'd have to leave a white feather at one of the rocks and hope Lindt understood she'd been looking for him, Teleri was startled out of her musings by a familiar hiss. Head flying up she turned around, grinning at him with a pleased splay of all her wings.
"Lindt!" She greeted in an excited whisper, trotting over to him. "There you are! I was beginning to think you'd never come back. "

Lindt was pleased by the reaction he received from his friend. His head wings wiggled about. "Hey you're not the only one! I was worried i wasn't going to make it back either. But a research sometimes had to go home to get grounded again, or something like that. " He folded his wings and took a step closer to touch his nose to her ear. He had no idea why he always greeted her that way but it had become their thing.
"But the time away was very informative." Lindt then nudged over an apple he picked on his way there. "But I picked this for you. It's an apple that doesn't grow around here. I thought you might enjoy it." He gave her a grin and then twitched his ears listening for any that might be approaching.
"I learned about my breed, or should I say, breeds. The horn means I'm part Unicorn which we kind of guessed on our own. But my wings aren't common Wind wings, they indicative of Angeni... So I'm part of this rare breed. They apparently aren't originally from Earth either." He wings stretched out in his excitement of getting to tell Teleri his news. But he also had some news for her. But before he got to that he didn't want to do all the talking... So when it was the proper time...
"Have you gone on any adventures of your own while I was away? Learn anything new?" He asked, eagerly awaiting to listen to her talk. Her voice was so familiar that it was comforting and he certainly hoped that all good things occurred for her. He would feel bad not being here for her it something happened that she needed support for.

Teleri grinned at him, whuffling in amusement as she watched the wings behind Lindt's ears flutter. He seemed equally pleased to see her, which was somewhere between pleasing and flattering. "Well then I'm glad you came back, if there was some doubt! And I hope that you found a lot of interesting things while you were out researching."
She tried to pout at him, but at the brush to her ear she was giggling and grinning instead. Giving up the disapproving act she leaned against his side instead, gazing up at him curiously. "Informative? That's a good thing, right? Oh, wow! You thought of me on your journey, huh? Thank you."
"Where does it grow, really far away?" She perked at the sight of the apple craning her head down to snuffle at it curiously for a moment. Deciding it smelled good she took a bite, chewing thoughtfully. "This is really good. Do you think if I save the seeds I can grow a tree for us here? That would be great."
Taking another bite, she listened with curiously tilted ears and nodded understandingly. True the unicorn part they had guessed, though she was curious as to if Lindt had found anyone that could teach him how to heal. Still the information about his wings was new, she hadn't really heard of an Angeni.
"Wow! Not even from earth? That's really exciting." She murmured after she'd swallowed her current bite, grinning at him.
Teleri liked hearing stories of Lindt's adventures, they were always much more far-roaming than her own tales. And she liked that he was so free-spirited and curious, it was somewhat opposite of the Flock stallions. They wanted to stay in the Flock lands, and Lindt seemed to want to explore everywhere. "Are there herds of them here, Angeni? Some that maybe you could visit? Some of them could be your family or something?"
His question about her own adventures made her laugh. "Not that many, unfortunately. I've met a few new friends, or acquaintances? Some of them weren't very chatty, but they were nice enough and they were our age. But since they're from outside of the Flock they couldn't stay long and I haven't really seen them since. I've been taking extra dance and singing lessons in my free time, my aunt says I'm doing well."
She beamed at him, quite pleased. It was certainly worth all the work she was putting into it, and though she was also beginning to make her jewelry and adornments she didn't tell him about them just yet. They were still a little clumsy, so she'd probably wait until she was better before she showed one to Lindt. If her practices went well, maybe she'd make him something out of the new stones and things she had gathered. She wanted it to be perfect, whatever it was.
"Other than that, nothing really worth talking about." She sighed faintly. "No great discoveries or news to share. I've been a little lonely, but ok. I'm really glad you're back though."

Teleri was always such a horse to talk with. She was always able to hold up her end of the conversation regardless of what it was. "I wouldn't say really far, but that's coming from me! It's about 3 days travel away. Though once I can fly it'll be so much easier to travel." He fluttered his wings some before settling them. "You might be able too. The climate was similar enough to here. You should give it a try!" He was pleased that he was able to bring her something that she was able to enjoy. Seeing her happy always made him happy.
"Oh, I know what you're thinking. I should see if I can find someone to help with heal... It would be useful. I'll see if I can track some down. But it would probably keep me away from a longer time." He frowned. "That's a great question. I'm not even sure how many are here. I'll have to look into that. I did learn though. that as I'm not what is called a pure Angeni, so I can't go to Heaven where all the pure Angeni come from. So I had to be born here." He glanced off to the side for a moment, letting a wing rest on Teleri's back. "So there's a chance that one of the ones here could be my family." But he wasn't really searching for family... When he came from his basket he has no one. He just wanted answers; Teleri was the closest thing to family he had and he seemed to be okay with that.
"New friends...?" Lindt looked at her and raised a brow. He did his best to keep his envious feelings, she made it sound like she didn't see them much after. She was friendly though so it would only be natural for her to want more friends... His ears twitched. "I'm sorry to hear you haven't seen them much after meeting them. I'm sure they'll venture back." He snuffled at her hair lightly. "Extra lessons? I'm sure you don't need extra. You're probably a natural!" He smiled at her. He wanted to be support and give her confidence. "Maybe when you finish your lessons I could get lucky and see you perform." By then he should be able to fly, so as long as he knew when she would be dancing he could hover over the trees to watch her... Though that was starting to seem a little creepy.
"D-do you think I could sneak you away for day? I could take you somewhere nearby for you to see." He knew it was a stretch. She wouldn't be able to get away easily. But wanted to show her the world. And he started to feel a bit bad about what he learned of her 'father'. It was exactly great news.

"Hmm, three days isn't all that far, in some ways. Perhaps with direct flight, though not with a more meandering travel. If a more wandering travel pattern, that would mean that the tree could easily thrive in this place... So I could actually have a chance at growing a tree here." She pondered with a faint smile, tail flicking back and forth before she gave him a wide grin. "That settles it, I'm gonna try it!"
She danced on her hooves, a swaying step to telegraph her joy. "I think it would be good if you could learn to heal, a fine skill to have, and a piece of your heritage besides... But I would miss you. Perhaps we should both learn to fly sooner rather than later, so at least you could visit more often or I could visit you between your lessons."
She gave him a grin and a playful wing, tossing her forelock. "As level-headed as you are? Of course you were born in the lands, though perhaps your parent visited from Heaven and that is how? I do not think they have Unicorns where the Angeni come from, so perhaps it was some great love? That would be a beautiful story."
Teleri stilled beneath his wing, leaning against his side and enjoying a moment of companionable silence. "I will help you look, if that is what you wish. I rather imagine there are not that many Angeni in the lands, and even if your parent has left, I am sure that those that remain would know something... It might be a long game of hide and seek, but we will find them."
She craned her head up to nose his cheek reassuringly. "And if you do not wish to look for them, then we shall not. I will keep you all to myself and perhaps a small circle of friends... Probably not any of the ones I have already met, as I said I have not been fortunate enough to see them again. There was one colt that said not a single word, though he had wings like you. I was hopeful he could tell me something, but it was not to be. Still, I am glad you found out about the Angeni."
It felt like less of a failure since he had found the information she had not been able to obtain. The snuffling made her giggle again, shrugging her wings slightly. "Yes, extra lessons. And I certainly think I do, I want to be the best I am able of being. But you are very kind to say."
Lindt's compliments were easier for her to accept, they just seemed genuine and kind. A word from one of the Flock merely made Teleri strive to be better, like they recognized she had made an effort but it wasn't quite what they had expected of her. Lindt could tell her she had done well and she believed him. "You will be the first, I promise. Though my aunt is teaching, she will not see the routine when it is complete. Still, when that happens I expect you to give me your full opinion on the matter, and not to hold back."
She gave him what she hoped was a firm look, though it fractured into a wide grin and melted away as she gave him another fond nuzzle and tucked herself under the fold of his wing. Gazing up at him, she tilted her head in consideration. "A whole day, hmmm? Since you've been gone so long, I think we can manage it."
Leaping away from his side and flaring her wings wide, she grinned. "Alright! Where to?"

~Latonia de la Courtel~ Sorry it's on the shorter side DX Lindt couldn't help but chuckle at her enthusiasm. He certainly hoped that she would be able to grow the tree. It would be rewarding for him too knowing that a gift he had given her, was still giving.
But in terms of his parents, that was something he would need think about. Did he want to find his parents? He seemed to be doing fine on his own... But was he missing out on something? He was happy learning about the parts that made him, him. So why would he need parents?
Lindt enjoy Teleri's closeness. She always helped him feel grounded. He listened to her chat about a another colt she had met but he didn't speak to her. And then she chatted about her lessons some more. "Oh! Yes of course. I will be a very stern judge for you!" He would be happy to help her in any way he could!
But then when she leapt out from his side he was startled. "Really!? We can go right now?" His wings instantly flared out in excitement. Where should he take her first? Would the coast be close enough? The orchard would be too far away, he really wanted to bring her there. But it would be too far... He wondered about... "What about the two leg village over the river? You haven't been there right?"

Teleri wouldn't argue anymore regarding healing, though she did think that the skill would be useful and interesting besides. How fascinating it must be to heal someone's wounds. And if it was a legacy of one's family, then it would be a way to know them, even if he never found them out. Wouldn't it be a sad thing, if he regretted not taking those chances earlier? Teleri somewhat wished to know of her father, if only so she did not regret it later in her life.
In the back of her head, the white filly was making plans to practice flight. She was already working to build up her strength and endurance, to be as strong and fast and graceful as she could. She could not hold things in her claws or use clever points to craft great works of art. But she was working to make her own art, to sing and to dance, and to craft decorations for those she called her friends.
Pleased with the plan, Teleri quickly finished up her apple and tucked the core into her gather pouch with the pebbles and granite and other things she had gathered in her travels. She would break the core open later and extract the seeds, and hopefully have some luck planting apple trees and picking apples when all was said and done. Maybe she'd have to dry them out, first? Or soak them in water instead? She'd have to find some of the small fiber cups and plant a seed in them and watch them up close... Then if they did well she would transplant them to a larger vessel, and then eventually plant them in a grove. But she'd want them strong and stout first, to ensure they did well.
"A stern judge would be good, a friend is best." She replied happily enough, shouldering him fondly. "If you can do both, I think we're all set. And yes, I think we should go... No time like the present, or something, isn't that what they say?"
Excited by the possibility the white filly danced on her hooves, grinning wide and bright. "A two-leg village across the river? No, I haven't been. Have you? Can we go now? That sounds exciting!"

Lindt looked over at Teleri, he could see her gears turning. He knew she meant well but they were still just foals and he wasn't sure what he was ready for. But that was more food for thought later on. The two of them would only have a short period of time to make it out of the Flock's territory and then not too much time before Teleri's absence would be noticed. Even if it was a big herd, there was always someone watching. "Alright then! We better get moving it about a mile away? Shouldn't take long if we run!" His wings gave a flutter as he waited for his friend to get herself organized and then he nodded her away from the location they were in and toward the boarder of the territory. "Ready?" He asked before he took off running to lead the way. He had never gone running with Teleri before and he had to admit there was something refreshing about it. Lindt usually travelled alone. He looked over his shoulder to check on his friend. The filly wouldn't be far behind, she was spunky after all. "I'm so excited about this!" He called over to her as they raced down the pathway.

As they had been friends for awhile, Teleri was not surprised to see Lindt looking at her like he knew the patterns her thoughts had taken. Truth be told, it was likely that he was right, too. He did know her better than most of her herdmates, she'd be willing to bet. But she knew he wouldn't tell her secrets either, so it didn't bother her so much.
Still, such thoughts would be better reviewed at a later time. At the moment they had better go quickly, before someone noticed she wasn't at one lesson or another. Them noticing her wasn't too much of a problem, of course. The trouble would be that they'd find Lindt if they found her, and she wouldn't allow it to happen. As a foal it was likely the Flock would let him be, unwilling to antagonize his family. But Teleri knew there was no strong herd to come seeking Lindt, and she didn't want to rely on the herd's caution to keep her friend safe. Not when her own would serve them both better.
"Alright then, let's go." She grinned wide and carefree, leaping to a run as he began leading the way. "It's been awhile since we've had a proper adventure, you know, I'm looking forward to it."
Folding all of her wings down close to her back, Teleri picked up her speed a bit to make sure she was within chatting distance. Now and again she glanced about, making note of landmarks so that she could easily find her way, or add them to her mental map.
Today was a good day for an adventure with a friend.
