Every day brought something new to Rosalyn's life, whether it was another of her flowers blooming, getting a bumblebee momentarily tangled in her mane, or on occasion, a visitor seeking sanctuary within her garden. Whichever new thing it was today, she mused, it was taking a while in showing itself. Rosalyn had been following her usual schedule, her hooves retracing her steps as she did days prior. She would go about her garden and check the soil with her hooves. She would let water flow from her hoof-dug irrigation system if the soil was dry, nosing rocks in and out of the way of the running water from a nearby stream. Collecting fallen rose petals and letting them steep in a pool, once more dug herself, created the perfect refreshment for when she grew tired, or for when a weary traveler would come her way. There were no travelers coming her way now. At least, not that she could detect, but she had a nagging feeling that something important would happen today and so she went about her day, the feeling of anticipation growing within her. I hope they come soon, whoever they are. Thought Rosalyn to herself, before shaking her head at herself. She, a gardener, should know that some things simply cannot be rushed. Company would come when they wanted to. She need only be ready for it when it came.

“Really now, this is no way to be acting,” said the winged serpent wrapped around Rakesh’s neck. “One Soquili’s opinion does not dictate everything.” That was as close as the serpent was going to get to saying ‘let it go.’
“But it is not one Soquili’s opinion,” Growled Rakesh, frustrated with himself for reacting the way that he was. “It is something that I have heard before, and I bet you a live mouse that I will inevitably hear it again.” His tail flicked in annoyance and frustration.
Rakesh was not paying much attention to where he was walking at that moment. The turmoil inside of him was making it too difficult to pay attention to everything. The forest was simply going to have to deal with someone taking less care where he stepped than usual. Rakesh was trusting that the serpent, Itotia Meztli, would tell him if he was about to fall off a cliff or something else drastic. So it was a very distracted and upset stallion that lumbered through the forest. Itotia Meztli refrained from pointing out that Rakesh was sulking and simply kept look out. “Stop!” The serpent cried.
Rakesh halted hoof still in the air and tried to shake himself out of his melancholy. “What?”

It was impossible to have not heard her company's arrival, especially since Rosalyn's ears had been straining for any sort of inclination to the arrival of the next. What she hasn't suspected, however, was the sounds of two and two that did not seem especially happy. At first, Rosalyn wasn't sure that she should even go to see who it was. She could just slip off into the further reaches of her garden, where others would not tread for fear of being cut and prodded by the heavy rose bushes about. Get ahold of yourself, Rosie. She told herself, They are troubled and in need of assistance. It would be cruel to turn away someone just because of your own jitters. With this thought planted firmly within her mind, she walked out towards the edges of her garden to see if she could greet the two newcomers. They were loud in coming, between the cracking of branches and irritation rolling off of them. As they suddenly drew closer, a new fear appeared in Rosalyn: what if, in their anger they accidentally trod on some of the more delicate flowers she'd planted? With a sudden burst of blind anxiety and speed she rushed foreword, stopping when she heard someone call out "Stop!" and turning to find herself nose-to-nose with a stallion of light brown hue, contrasting to her dark. "Oh!" Startled, Rosalyn took a few, hurried steps backwards, "I'm sorry, I didn't mean to end into you so abruptly, though I think you," She caught sight of the winged snake around the stallion's neck and smiled at it, before turning her polite and apologetic smile onto the stallion, "You two were the ones I was looking for. I couldn't help but notice that you seemed rather stressed and, if you'll not think it too forward of me, my garden is just around that bend. I've been told by past visitors that it can sometimes have a soothing effect on Soquili and you're more than welcome to see it for yourself." Rosalyn was sounding embarrassingly over-eager, she realized and ducked her head in a shy bow, "Of course, if you have other plans, pay no heed to myself. I just feel ill at ease when others who are uncomfortable pass me by without my intervening. I do like to help others when I can."

Rakesh, hoof still in the air, turned to look at the sweet lady that was talking to him. With some chagrin he remembered how he had been behaving before and wished that she had not been witness to that horrible behavior. The fact that she said she had been waiting for them intrigued him because Rakesh knew that he had told no one of where he and his companion were going, nor did he actually know where he was he realized. With a start at that thought he jerked, overbalance, and finally put his hoof down with a mighty thump. That was not the sort of noise that he wanted to make but it would have been an impossible task to make a softer noise and still remained standing.
It was Itotia Meztli that recovered first having already known of the mare’s presence. And she chose to accept the lady’s invitation without consulting with Rakesh. This was not an unusual occurrence. “Why, that sounds perfectly lovely. We would be delighted to accompany you to your garden.” With a light thwap of her tail against Rakesh’s neck she added pointedly but still in a conversational tone, “Wouldn’t we?”
Rakesh recovered quickly from being startled off balance literally at least. “Of course we would sweet lady. It would be our delight.” With a dip of his head he greeted the mare more properly. “A lovely garden is just what we could do with at this moment. It is very kind of you to offer your own sanctuary as you have to a complete stranger.” He was glad that it was him that had stumbled across her and not some evil conniving stallion that would only take advantage of the sweet lady and then trample her garden out of spite or something equally horrible. “Fear not, what I am stressed about is a silly thing and a garden to view and some nice refreshing company will send it on its rightful way.” It was only then that Rakesh took a moment to actually look at the mare that had stopped his ranting and raving as he imagined it to be. She was more subdued than some of the other mares that he had seen in his travels, but lovely and elegant in a way that many weren’t. This was not something that he would tell her without prompting at the moment because he had just learned that this was considered to be forward and inappropriate. Still unsure of what he should be saying, Rakesh chose to stick to the safer topics that she brought up. With a gallant bow that brought his head almost to the ground, Rakesh said grandly, “lead on sweet lady. I shall follow wherever you lead.”
