User ImageUdahali was proud to represent his clan alongside his father, and eager to see how far the defensive skills he'd been taught might take him. He was no born-and-bred warrior, but he didn't think he was awful at it, either. He nodded respectfully to his opponent--younger than himself, but old enough to compete--and surged forward, intent on landing a strong initial strike and putting the other off-balance.

Dyami had been hoping to be paired with someone around his own age but luck didn't seem to be in his favor for that. So, deciding to make the best of it he nodded his head to his opponent and prepared himself for the fight. He was nervous though. He wanted to do his clan proud. He wanted to get past round one. So despite his rather cool appearance he was anything but inside as he threw pressure upon himself.

The other lions initial attack -did- take Dyami by surprise despite his awareness and he stumbled backwards in an attempt to get out of the way but only managed to trip over his own paws in the process. His gangly adolescent body was working against him.

Despite his uneven footing her attempted to rebound from his blunder and strike a paw at his opponent.

Udahali felt unexpected chagrin as Dyami stumbled back--maybe he should take it easy on the other? His next thought was to chide himself not to be silly. This was a tournament battle, not a practice spar, and the entire point was for one to win and one to lose. That didn't mean he couldn't keep his claws sheathed, though, and if he maintained his upper paw he would do his best not to humiliate the adolescent. He ducked away from the incoming strike, sending a heavy paw at Dyami's shoulder.
