The young dragons circled him. They couldn't have been even a day old, but they moved with stealth and their eyes were set on him. It was clear they were hungry and like this, sitting there, his back hurt, his mind going in and out of focus and blood spilling from his leg, Alionse was the perfect meal. From the hole, the scratching had grown louder and more frantic, like a ticking clock. He wondered how much time he had before the adult dragons broke through. Would they kill him and feed him to their young or would they simply use him as a tool to teach their young how to hunt.

Are you giving up?

No, he wasn't. He decided that even if it was his fate to die here he would die fighting. But he was growing weaker and he had to do something about it. The bleeding. The dragons had inched closer, Alionse lifted his torch and swung it in front of him. The dragons backed away, but their eyes gleamed in the firelight, waiting for an opening. Alionse placed the torch between his thighs and then lifted his arm< keeping a cautious eye on the dragons he began ripping at his shirt. he yanked hard at it and he could hear it rip, but he realized it would be easier just to cut it off. He maneuvered his sword awkward and began sawing at the fabric, trading between yanking the sleeve and sawing at it, eventually he managed to get it pulled off. Now he just had to wrap the wound.

Keeping an eye on the dragons he slowly bent his leg. Blood poured out from the wound soaking his pants and he had to bite the inside of his cheek to stop himself from crying out in pain, still he continued. The torch between his thighs wobbled at the motion and Alionse realized he couldn't possibly do this and not accidentally set himself on fire, at least not trying to hold on to his sword and the torch. For a moment he was tempted to just let himself bleed, but he reasoned that if he died from blood loss the dragons would likely eat him anyway. If he wanted to survive he had to stop the bleeding.

Slowly, Alionse put down his sword. He grabbed the torch from between his thigh and waved it at the dragons. They didn't move back, but they didn't come forward either. That made him nervous. He looked at his leg and then with his free hand took the cloth and laid it under his thigh. He then straightened his leg again, ignoring the pain. With one hand he tossed one end of the cloth over his leg then the other. Satisfied with that, he once again tucked the torch between his legs, glancing up at the dragons to make sure neither had approached. Then as quickly as he could he tied the knot.

Sighing with relief, Alionse quickly picked up his sword. He wasn't sure if he did a good job, but for now it would have to be enough. He leaned back when suddenly there was a commotion from the hole. Alionse tensed. His gaze set on the wall. He knew the dragons had good reason to try to get in the cavern. For them they were trying to kill him and protect their young. Alionse figured that the tunnel he had passed through had originally been an open cavern like the one he was in now. There must have been a cave in, separating the dragons from the two eggs. It explained a lot of things, too bad that didn't change that they were trying to kill him.

There was more noise from the hole, but this time it sounded like a roar and movement, a screech. Alionse's shoulders grew rigid. What was going on out there. Then he heard a voice, a very familar voice.

"Alionse!"

Alionse's eyes widened. "Dad?" He turned to the whole and as soon as he did, he knew he had made a mistake. He twisted around just in time to have one of the dragons slam into him, it's mouth snapping at his head. His torch flew away from and was extinguished. Instinctively, Alionse shoved his elbow into the dragons throat and as he did he fsaw the other dragon climbing over his sibling's back, ravenous, trying to get to him first.

A part of Alionse wanted to give up, but a stronger part was already moving and with all his strength shoved his sword forward and into the dragons belly. The sword pierced through the dragons stomach and it let out a sharp cry, but Alionse just gritted his teeth and kept pushing, pushing and twistign the sword until the dragon on front of him finally stopped moving. He waited for the other one, but there was nothing.

He looked up to see it staring down at him, it's eyes half dead. The sword, when he had pushed it through it had pierced through to the other side, catching the other dragon in the stomach. It wasn't dead, not yet at least, but it stood there whimpering. For a moment the two simply stared at each other as if waiting to see who would die first.

The dragon on top of him began to drumble into bone and dust, leaving behind a dragon orb, but as it vanished there was nothing holding back Alionse's sword or keeping the other dragon seperated from sinking deeper. To the surprise of both of them, the dragon's on weight thrust it deeper onto the sword. It let out a sharp cry right before it died.

From the hole a loud shriek went into the air and then the sound of stone craking. Alionse rolled away from the bones only to come face-to-face with an agry Ayrala adult dragon. The dragon looked at teh dead dragons and let out a loud shriek before rushing towards Alionse. Alionse tried to move out of the way, but he reached his limit.

Almost, he thought. Almost.

But before the dragon could sink his teeth into him it was suddenly yanked back by it's tail by an even bigger dragon. Alionse's eyes widened and he tried to understand what was going on, but then he saw the dragon being dragged out, it's claws digging into teh stone as it tried to get to Alionse, but to no avail. There was the sound of shouting and fighting, then his father's voice.

"Alionse! Open your eyes damn it!"

Alionse opened his eyes. He hadn't even realized he had closed them. When did that happen? he wondered. But he must of, because suddenly he was in his father's arm as he was slowly carried from the cave.

"You're going to be all right," his father said.

"Dad," Alionse said softly. "Dad I killed two dragons."

His father laughed, but his voice sounded wet. "Good job."

Alionse smiled and closed his eyes.
