After the events of moving and meeting with Jan, Melvin couldn't sleep as easily as before - which meant he even slept less than he had been. While he felt horrible for what he was going after what Horace said to him and his feelings about Jan, he still caught himself zoning out and then smiling softly at the ceiling as he though about Jan and the agreement they now shared with Rin.
It was a messy, touchy subject and there were only two people he could talk to about these things, and Horace was now off the list for this topic.
While he hadn't spoke to Jordan in some time, he was desperate and needed a level head to give him perspective. An expert of messy, complicated relationships involving more than two people, he was sure he was his best chance.
Nervous, he knocked on the man's door and waited.

"Be right there," Jordan called, and there was a brief pause before he opened the door. When he was who it was, he blinked in surprise; Melvin hadn't talked to him in quite some time. "Hey," he said. "Nice to see you. What's up?" His room was visibly less tidy than usual; a tarp still hung across the section of the far wall that was being repaired, and some things had been moved around. A bathrobe and a shirt lay over the back of the couch, and there was a laptop on the coffee table beside a scatter of books.

The room was a mess, but even Melvin's new room had taken hits. It was clean, but still needed repairs. It was strange still to see Jordan's room in any state of chaos though. He always associated the man with a backdrop of cleanliness.
"Hi." He said, glancing to him and the room which did not look inviting for the private conversation he wanted. "Um, can I talk to you? We can walk. Want to go for a walk?"
He stood in place, tense. "Or are you busy? I can come back later and we can walk then."

"Uh, sure. Let me grab my shoes real quick," Jordan said, and padded back into the room to retrieve his boots from their spot under the coat hooks. Melvin seemed tense and nervous. Possibly not a good sign for whatever he wanted to ask or talk about, but Jordan wasn't going to make assumptions about that until he found out what was up. He was stepping out the door shortly, and closed it behind him but left it unlocked. "Anywhere or anything particular?" he asked as they started down the hall.

Melvin waited, looking around to make sure Rep or Harrison didn't come and try to convince them to have this talk inside or for Rep to ask why he wasn't talking to him. Melvin could have, but he still felt bad for letting Rep down and didn't want to ask more of him. The topic or Rin also bugged Rep and the man had a poor view of being with other people.
"Just somewhere private." He stressed and he lead the way out of the dorms and towards the woods, deciding to head to the beach.
The hardest part was always starting the conversation that felt a bit too jumbled and complex unless you were involved in it.
"So... I kinda needed to talk to someone who knows a bit about something. About ... Messy relationships and people." He adjusted his googles and glanced at Jordan. "I guess, how did things work with you and Harrison and Rep when you first started out. When a normal couple becomes a three couple."

Jordan followed Melvin's lead, waiting for the other man to gather his thoughts enough to start the conversation. It seemed a little odd for Melvin to be so nervous about something; the man was blunt and straightforward to a fault -- except when asked to speak about something personal and private. So perhaps Melvin wanted to talk about something personal. If that was the case, Jordan wasn't about to derail him with small talk, especially when he knew that Melvin disdained pointless niceties. The path angled downward toward the beach, and Melvin organized his thoughts enough to ask his question. Jordan's eyebrows jumped. This was not an avenue of conversation he'd expected to be addressing with Melvin. He wasn't sure if he was flattered that Melvin thought enough of him to ask his advice about it or faintly insulted to be considered the person to consult about messy relationships. "I'm not entirely sure we'd be considered a normal start to a poly relationship," he answered, a little dryly. "Harrison and I had slept together a couple of times and were edging toward making it a thing, so we weren't really a couple yet, as such, and Rep was deeply closeted but got too jealous about us to contain it, and that was what got us onto the path that ended up with agreeing that we'd give it a try as all three of us rather than leaving anyone out of it." He added, after a moment, "There were also Joy cookies involved in the working-it-out process."

Melvin watched, his attention wrapped in what Jordan had to say, but there was conditions that matched his own, yet had too many variables to be an exact match. However, it was a start, and Jordan was still showing himsel to be a better person to talk to than anyone else in his very, VERY, limited circle of friends and people he trusted.
"Okay, so let's say. Well, you and Harrison were just messing around and it wasn't official. I'm kinda - in a spot. I'm - I've been talking with someone. It's been very - intimate, but we were never a thing. I've always been faithful after all." He pointed out, though who he was assuring of this fact wasn't clear.
"I'm not that type of person after all. It's just, things have gotten strange. The person I spoke with. Let's call them.......Jane." Melvin had never ben that creative.
"Well, Jane has been with someone before. I didn't know it at the time until recently. Well, they don't seem like a thing, Jane and this person. Let's call this person....Dorace."
Saliva groaned and Melvin was confused as to why.
"Well Jane and Dorace are a thing I guess. Well, I know Dorace and we're good friends. But now Dorace is telling me he loves Jane - a lot. But I spoke with Jane and he doesn't seem to think that. We'll.........even though I'm with Rin and all...."
He looked off, adjusting his glasses again before glancing back at Jordan. "I kinda, sorta ******** Jane."

Jordan tucked his hands in his pockets and listened as Melvin explained his situation. Jane and Doris? I know there's at least one Jane around here but I haven't met a Doris. Maybe she's new - But the thought was derailed as Melvin went on to refer to both of them as he, and the situation and the people involved became uncomfortably clear. He suppressed a pained groan. Should he play along and pretend he didn't know who Melvin was talking about, or should he just address it straightforwardly? "That's not a particularly good start," he said after a moment. "If you're going to be dating more than one person, everybody involved should be aware of the others and okay with it. It requires openness, honesty, and a lot of communication." He gave Melvin a flat look. "Are these two guys both thinking it's an open relationship?"

How did Jordan know they were guys?!
You kept going HE you moron!
Melvin looked back at Jordan, not quite liking he wasn't getting the quick, easy fix he wanted.
"Well SHE is saying, Jane, the girl....well she said that she is ok with it. I mean, we were close so - it wasn't that big of a deal. Rin has always been close to Jane. When I asked hi - uh, her, about Dorace, he said that they weren't really a thing at all. But when I talked to Dorace, she said he loved him."
Saliva was groaning loudly as Melvin continued.
"Okay, so ...." he paused a moment to turn to Jordan. "I don't have a lot of friends." He let this earth breaking news sink in a moment.
"So, if I told Dorace what was going on, he would HATE me forever because he told me how much he loves Jane - and then what? And I could stop with Jane, but then it would be like I was insulting hi- uh her for no reason. That after all they had done for me, and that Jane wanted this, that we all did. Well, not Dorace. But the rest of us involved wanted this, that we had to stop and just leave it be."
He also took a bit of a breath. "Jordan....it's....it's been a long year."
A very..........very..................VERY long year.

Jordan took one hand out of his pocket and rubbed it across his eyes, his eyebrows pinching wearily. "Okay, dude. One, you are terrible at concealing people's identities. Two, if that's how it is, Jan's cheating, plain and simple. If you weren't aware that it was in any way serious beforehand, you're not entirely at fault for sleeping with him anyway, but you still should've made sure that it was okay with everyone involved before going ahead with it if you care about not cheating." He dropped his hand to his side and looked at Melvin. "If you're having to keep what you're doing together a secret, it's not a good relationship."

Melvin tensed when he heard the word "Jan." How the hell did Jordan know about who he was talking about?!
The guy should be in death. He was sure of it. That was the only explanation how he could piece together any clues to get to this point.
But did he know everything else. It was best to pretend Jordan wasn't right about who he targeted.
"Jane..." Melvin stressed, "...answered me when I asked about if he was with Dorace. I didn't touch her - uh, him until I asked over and over about Dorace." He pointed out.
"And I'm not cheating. Rin is ok with it. She's always been kinda - that type of person. It's Dorace I'm worried about."

"If you thought Horace wasn't going to be upset about it when you did it, then the blame is on Jan for giving you the wrong impression," Jordan said, as patiently as he could. "But now that you know that he really, really would be, if you do it again, you're cheating, regardless of what Rin thinks about it." He sighed. "You can't just leave him out of this, especially since he feels so strongly and you know that he feels really strongly about it. Pretty sure you already know that, since you asked me instead of either asking him or just going ahead with what you're doing." If Horace found out about this ... Jordan didn't know whether to hope for that or to hope that it stayed a secret. Horace would be furious at Melvin, but the discovery that Jan was cheating on him had the potential to send him into a dangerous downward spiral. But if Jan was the kind of guy who'd cheat without remorse, it was probably only a matter of time before it did come out. Maybe the guy could pull it off for a while, but in a community this small and this gossipy, someone would see or hear something, and it would all disintegrate.

"I never said their names!" He shouted back both surprised and desperate to keep Jordan for thinking that was who he was talking about. "Are you in Death or something?!" How did Jordan even know?!
Staring at him, the Sun doused Melvin with cold, hard, facts, and it extinguished the small flames of hope he had that this would somehow work. Not just work, but work out for everyone with only a good outcome where everyone was happy and no one was hurt.
Frowning, he stood there, pulling at the hem of his sweater. "But..........it was nice. I mean, REALLY nice." It was nice to have someone that was not only approved by Rin, but could be there all the time. It was nice to just - enjoy company of someone beside you and know they weren't going ot be gone in a minute. He wanted that. He was starving for it.
But the more he looked at Jordan, the more he knew that he had been fooling himself. Horace loved Jan. If he was going to be Horace's friend, then he couldn't ******** his boyfriend. It went against every friend code ever.
Sighing, he looked away. "........fine."
It was back to being frustrated in bed again for weeks on end. If his arms got any stronger, he could apply to be a Sun.

"If you're going to use fake names, use ones that aren't almost the same as the names you're trying to conceal," Jordan advised, quirking an eyebrow at Melvin. He sighed. "Sorry, dude. I know you're a decent person. You know as well as I do that your conscience wouldn't let you keep it up, not when you know it's going to hurt someone you consider a friend. It's not worth destroying the friendship and their relationship." His lips pressed into a thin line. If Jan was willing to lie and cheat like that, the relationship might already be a time bomb. But if Melvin was directly involved in the implosion, it would be worse.

"But......" He didn't know what to say in his defense. Would Rin be angry? Would she get upset that she gave the go ahead yet he was stopping? What about Jan?
"What if everyone else gets upset though? That I'm saying we should stop when....when it was going so nice before?" He looked to Jordan. "I don't want ot upset them too."
