Clyde was still wandering around the Scifi world. Even now he occasionally woke up wondering if he was dreaming. The bed felt hard, and occasionally he had... dreams. He never fully remembered them when he woke up. The dreams within the dreams were hard and confused him and he woke up staring at a ceiling instead of open air. It always took him a few minutes to orient himself He was in his own room. He was on this island. He had a voice who would occasionally talk to him. She would remind him gently that he was not dreaming. And the drudge work he was doing most of the time proved that. It was so weird though like he was cleaning up after an earthquake. but it was no earthquake from the way people talked. and there was a sense of normalcy in it. He was still learning the ropes and Tommy had invited him out to train. Well spar. Clyde never really spared before. Sure he occasionally had to use his fists to settle a conversation but that was usually a brief thing. Usually his big stature was enough to settle it. (Though he had noticed everyone here was pretty big too. he felt average here for some reason.) Still he had tried to protest and say he didn't need it but Tommy insisted that he did. And that was what brought him to the training area. He gazed out at it, confused and wondering how this would work.

He was still fairly fresh out of the infirmary, but incredibly eager to get back to his usual routine and exercise regimen. He figured that he needed to start out a bit slow, however, and what better way than to invite somebody new out to the training fields for a nice, friendly spar? Since it just so happened that Tommy knew somebody who fit the bill, he had extended the invitation to Clyde. He'd had to be a bit insistent, but in the end, the other man had agreed, and so, at the agreed upon time, Tommy showed up at the training fields, whistling a tune with his hands shoved into the pockets of his grey, frayed and holey sweatpants. Dark eyes scanned the area until he found who he was looking for, approaching him from behind until he was at his side, giving him a light shoulder bump as he came to a halt next to him. "Hey! So, how have you been? Got your weapon, obviously, and your room.... Oh, what division did you wind up in, by the way?" His usual cheerful and chipper self, despite having been electrocuted nearly to death only a week before.

Clyde had no clue about electrocutions or anything else. Which was probably a good thing because he still thought of healing in the more human sense, slow, long and at times painful. He did however hear Tommy coming long before he got there, and the man received a small bump back. Clyde was relaxed, if a bit nervous about how exactly to preform this upcoming spar. "Yeah I got her. Her name is Vanessa. And yes to the room, and my Division is Moon. We had a meeting but the mission boiled down to... make friends." he laughed a bit, like he hadn't already planned on doing exactly that. "It was an odd experience involving candle light and the light house. Very Goth, not exactly what I was expecting." he paused to laugh a little again. "I made a friend though."

"Ah, moon! That is good they are like...well I do not want to call you a meat shield because that seems a bit harsh but it is also apt." He grinned, and gave the other man a pat on the back, moving then so that he was out on the training field proper, turning on his heel so that he was facing Clyde. "Huh! That is interesting! Our mist meeting was much the same, but ah, without the candlelight or lighthouse." He tried, then, to think of who he knew in the moon division, but only a couple of names came to mind, and one of those wasn't the most friendly sort so he quickly dismissed him to ask after the other. "Did you by any chance meet somebody named Dawson? He is a very nice guy, big hearted, just a beautiful man!" He was still grinning, and now holding his hands out to each side, as he wasted no time in summoning his crossbow mounted gauntlets. "Vanessa you say? Wonderful! Please, I would love to see!" phantompanther13 I totally spelled your name wrong the first time I quoted you in this I AM SORRY

"Oh so I'm supposed to be front line fodder? If you are behind me I'll be sure to move out of the way." Clyde followed the other man out on to the field, standing at what he thought was a reasonable distance. "I'm still not sure how that all works. Thus why I'm here I guess..."
"Oh Dawson? No not like sit down and meet, not yet. but I have spoken to him on twitter and perhaps gotten into one of his beers. He seems like a cool dude, an I will track him down in person some time." Clyde shrugged and stretched a moment before pulling out a tape measure from his pocket. He grabbed one end and pulled it open before it glowed and with a change of light split into two guns. "This is Van."
He gave Tommy a moment to look at her. "She informed me that she is a two headed Serpent."
"Now are you sure we can just shoot at each other?"

Once he was reassured that it was indeed ok Clyde shifted his feet apart slightly and lined up one shot. He had little prior shooting experience, only the little bit that every redneck child in Oregon managed to pick up, but his arm seemed to move into position by it's self. It was like he had always known how to do this and gave him an odd sensation. Pointing the right gun directly at Tommy's torso he pulled the trigger. he asked just after the shot fired and a small rod of energy shot after Tommy, dissipating after contact.
his companion seemed pleased, but he was worried. didn't that hurt Tommy? "Are you alright?"
HP: 40
Damage: 4

Tommy laughed. "No, it is okay! I plan on being part of the front line fodder, actually. I think it is more your job to make sure I, or any other offence, do not actually die." He grinned, deftly stringing the crossbows on each gauntlet like he had done it a million times, which, by now, he probably had. "But I am meant to be more versatile, so it is often a matter of where I will be needed most. Sometimes, it is likely that I will be working alongside you, other times in some other area." Tommy watched as Clyde pulled out a tape measure, interested as it was not like any totem he had encountered before. When it morphed into two guns, he let out a low whistle. "Ranged combat, then! This should be very interesting." He continued to grin, and nodded. "Ah, yes!" He opened his arms wide. "Go ahead! I do not mind, and am positive I will be fine!" Shortly after he said this, the bullets flew, and his shield was pummelled directly in front of his chest. He stumbled back a step or two, and winced just slightly. "Ah, so that is how it feels! Somebody once told me that when my weapon strikes, it feels like being pelted with a marble." He shifted into a more ready position now, took aim, and fired off an electric blue bolt towards Clyde with a flex of his fingers to the palm of his hand. HP: 36 Damage: 4

"She's a beauty, isn't she?" Clyde like they way she felt in his hands, the cool metal that seemed to draw his skin in. "She tells me she was once a two headed serpent." whatever that meant. The return fire startled him just a bit. It was Enough to make his skin jump and enough for him to not even be able to move out of the way. But oddly the hit was reduced, magic? "They kind of feel like frozen paintballs..." enough to hurt, and possibly welt but not enough to do real damage... he wondered how useful this would really be in a real fight. Was it the field that did that, made it safe to practice? A soft amused humm in the back of his head said Vanessa had something to do with the odd, less painful sensation. Either way... it seemed he was fine, and Tommy was fine. They were good right? Clyde got a mischievous smile. If they were fine they could certainly up the anti. He launched himself to the side and trained his guns right on Tommy. With Van guiding his hands he pulled the trigger on both hands multiple times, letting more bullets fly. HP: 36 Damage: 9

Jaida liked Clyde a lot better when he was calling her beautiful, and not some other weapon, and so she was sniffing disdainfully in Tommy's mind, and also telling him that he'd better show off her skills appropriately or they would be having words. He knew by now they would likely be having words anyway, so he ignored her and grinned. "Yes, very much! I do not think I have seen anybody with two guns before, always just with one!" "Ah, yes! That is a good comparison. I like it!" Quite abruptly, Clyde was getting more into the match up, catching Tommy off guard as he dove to the side and fired at him several times. There was nothing he could do against the assault, unable to dodge the few bullets that pelted against him, demonstrating just how accurate the other man's description was. Still, it was no reason to get mad, or frustrated, so he let out a laugh, and moved, firing off another bolt that was just a hair away from finding it's mark, instead sailing past harmlessly and fizzling out of existence some distance away. For a brief moment, he envied the ability to fire off the several rounds at once that Clyde's weapon allowed him, but the indignant squawk in his mind gave tell to how much Jaida did not appreciate it. HP: 27 Damage: nope

Clyde was unaware of Tommy's weapon's thoughts. Even if he was, Clyde would still call his own beautiful. He still thought it, and besides, he has to live with his own 24/7. "I didn't realize she was a rarity." the voice purred, pleased by the attention. Clyde slowed down after his assault and then realized he had to doge incoming fire. Even though the bullets didn't hurt that much, he strongly prefered not to be hit. He tried to side step and then wound up falling on his butt. An amused chuckle came from the back of his head. Well at least Van was entertained. HP: 36 Damage: none

"It may be that she is not!" He admitted, with a grin and a shrug. "I mean, I have not seen any like her before myself, but perhaps that is only because I am still fairly new." Well...if being on the island for well over half a year could be considered "new", he supposed. When Clyde fell, Tommy thought long and hard (for about half a second) about whether or not he would shoot him while he was down. And then did it anyway. Twice. HP: 27 Damage: 6

"So we are in the new boat?" Clyde spent more time dogging and trying to get to his feet than he did attempting to return fire. Those things were starting to hurt. He rubbed a small almost welt. No bruise, just enough to let him know he was in pain. "How are little paint balls supposed to actually hurt anything anyways? Or do they not work against human?" Clyde was very new. Very new. "New enough!" He shrugged with a grin, easing off on firing for now, taking his time in restringing his crossbows, giving Clyde plenty of time to get back on his feet to face him once more. His question took Tommy by surprise, and he blinked a couple of times before realization dawned. "Ah, yes, well, you see, our weapons provide us with a thing called a shield, which is why these bolts do not actually, well, penetrate your body!" He laughed. "Against a creature of Fear, however, it is quite different I believe...though I have not yet actually technically encountered one to see for myself." HP: 27 Damage: 0

"Oh a shield? That's why you aren't worried about me shooting you." he might have heard something about that during the tour. But Clyde was still trying to get a grasp on things. This however made more sense. It also explained why being shot just didn't seem to hurt. "Ok good. "Yes! Though I think because the things we fight are made of Fear, when we strike them it is not like striking a normal human might be. I believe our weapons drain them, sapping their Fear away, until they have nothing left to protect them as well. And then...they dissipate! POOF! GONE! But then, they come back? I am a little confused as to how it works, honestly, and have not actually seen it myself, yet." And then, because they were actually supposed to be sparring, Tommy shot another bolt down towards Clyde's shin. HP: 27 Damage: 2
