Quote: Survey Mission 4BLocation: The Abandoned Takakonuma Greenland Park Images:: x, x, x. General debriefing: Recently, the park opened itself up for a different type of tourist crowd, making itself a fun tourist set for locals, until unexplained deaths began happening to those on-site. Falling beams, uneven flooring, and occasionally, witnesses have claimed that they hear voices, oddly enough of themselves through the fog. * C class difficulty level (must have a team of three, at least one of them must be an intermediate trainee) MECHANICS * MECHANICS: RP assembling a team, as necessary, before heading towards the Lighthouse portal to request a portal to Survey Mission 4B. Once there, roll a 100-sided dice and match the roleplay to the results below, as well as any reactions. Players can continue rolling until any of the players roll a INSANITY ENCOUNTER, in which case the BATTLE PHASE begins. See below for battle phase mechanics. 1- 20: You have a hard time getting past the fog, everything thick and desolate. Finally you see something, a flash of something, colour in the fog. You run over to it to discover that it is a mutilated corpse. Its face has been torn clean off its head, maggots crawling out of the skull. 21 - 40: You notice that some of the rides are moving on their own, from the roller coaster - still taped off with DANGER DO NOT ENTER - to the excuse of a ferris wheel. A body slumps to one side of the ticket booth, dried out. You turn around as you hear a strange hissing noise. As you turn back, the body standing, still, in front of the ticket booth. 41 - 60: You stumble for a second, as if someone, one of your teammates have shoved you, but when you look around, you notice that there is noone else in sight. 61 - 80: You see a mirror maze, and walk into it, your reflection eerie in each broken mirror fragment. Everything suddenly turns an oblique white and as you regain your vision seconds later, all your reflections have been replaced with your body melting, face and skin melting right off your face's reflection. Your reflection continues to copy everything you do. 81- 100: BOSS ENCOUNTER: - As you continue walking down the sidewalk you hear a large crack, followed by another. A strange gas explodes from underneath, making you extremely dizzy, as you cough to figure out what is going on, fighting for air now. You have exposed your entire team to a hallucinogen, making everything more terrifying than ever as your vision swims and hops uncontrollably and your hearing becomes muted. Something creaks, groans, lurches underneath you, but is that your imagination? - BOSS MECHANICS: This boss is a mob that has collective 100 HP. Every time you attack it (following the general battle rules), you TAKE 8 damage. AS you can't really see the boss, most of it will have to be dependent on what you can see, if anything at all, from strange faceless figures lurching, half-hopping towards you to the smiling dead coming back and swiping at you. Make sure to tally the boss's total HP (the damage you did to it) at the bottom of your post as well as your total HP and the damage you did that round. If the boss's HP hits 0, you have defeated it, and your team can now take the portal back. * 3 mission reward points for completing this successfully

Joy half-ran towards the lighthouse where the portals were stationed. She wasn't late! She'd made sure to finish packing and leave early!! Because she was going to go on a mission! Sure, yeah, it wasn't her first mission. After all, she'd gone to help with that mall zombie breakout thing but that was an everyone-on-board type of deal. But this one was an assigned mission! She'd be going with a specific group!! And she was starting to use an excessive amount of exclamations and italics in her thoughts, which probably meant she should dial it down.
The moon trainee took a deep breath to calm herself. It didn't help much but she forced herself to slow down to a jog. Nervous energy was building up inside her as she waited for the other two members. She was a little relieved that she at least sorta-knew one of them. The third person, the higher-ranked one, the one who Joy assumed was going to be in charge of this mission, she hadn't had the pleasure of meeting before.
When she arrived, she was already properly warmed up and ready for action!phantompanther13 Are you ready to die? @ 3@ Enoh Love Thank you thank you thank you ;w;

Clyde was assigned a mission. It was his first real mission, and this, this was what he signed up for. He had gathered everything he thought he needed in a back pack and then paused before putting on something very special. Something he chose to save specifically for missions. The black rabbit mask was right where he left it. It was one of the few belonging he had managed to keep from the transfer. Something he carried at the bottom of his backpack wherever he went. And today, for the first time in a while, he put it on. It was time to work. A small smile crossed his lips and he headed out to the light house to meet up with the rest of the group. He wasn't sure how this would go but he had figure out by this point how to work with his partner. That and he had a flash light. Between the two he should be good right? Huni Pi Hello, Joy gets to meet the Wandering Traveler now.

Ripley had gotten the call, and was a little less than pleased about it. Not only did he have to set aside his research for an external mission, but he was going with two trainees he didn't know. That part wasn't the problem really, the problem was that he was not good at fighting, and had little faith in himself to set any sort of example other than 'bad' for these trainees. He had made it to the portal on time - which meant early to everyone else - and got to watch the pair come in. One was seemingly energetic, and the other was…wearing a rabbit mask. Well, alright. The intermediate's expression never changed, which left him looking rather disinterested and unimpressed with the world around him.
"Good Morning." He said to the pair, with a small nod. "My name is Ripley Crowell, and I'm an Intermediate Death Hunter." He introduced himself efficiently, looking between them as he introduced himself. "Did either of you get a chance to look at the mission details?"

Joy openly stared at Clyde's accessory, unblinking for a few seconds before her face broke into a wide, amused grin. "Jesus, Clyde, I hope you don't plan on multiplying like rabbits while on Deus," she lightly nudged at him with her elbow.
It took her a few seconds to school her features to what she thought was a professional calm, but really it only make her look grim. "Ligaya delos Santos but people call me Joy for short," she introduced, following Ripley's lead. "I've read the mission details. Sounds like one of those urban legends where the company president sacrificed a human life during construction to ensure the success of the park. But the sacrificed soul turned vengeful and now it's ******** s**t up."
Joy then had the good sense to look embarrassed as she reigned in her enthusiasm with a cough, "O-or that's how I see it."

"Was that an offer Joy?" he winked at Joy a goofy grin on his face. It was called an intimidation factor. He wasn't going to go around explaining the mask and everything it meant. It was supposed to be anonymous, but as he figured, he was recognizable with it on. There was no sense in hiding from his comrades, this was for off island trips. A certain voice in the back of his head let out an amused snort. And then he turned more business, they had a job to do after all. "Hello Ripley, I'm Clyde." he held out his hand for a strong handshake. "It sounds like a shadow thing." he had read the details. "So where do we roll out the light cannon?" They had one of those right? Probably not but it sounded fun. While he had read the mission logs on his phone, he hadn't really had any experience and everything else here was like off a star track movie. Why not light cannons?

"Joy, Clyde." He said in way of greeting. While Ripley's brow raised momentarily at the term light canon, he didn't comment on it. Mostly because he didn't understand the reference. He did, however, pay attention to the options they had given him, and while each had their merit, they didn't know the situation beyond 'strange happenings'.
"We'll find out." He shrugged. "Stay safe, don't do anything stupid, keep in contact." He rushed through the basics, not wanting to let any of these things go unsaid. "Don't be a hero." Was the last thing he said, before he had a brief chat with the portal techs, and stepped through to their destination.huni pi letting you take the lead!

She couldn't contain the snort of amusement at Clyde's rhetorical question but Joy tended to feel things rather than think about them. And right now, she felt like poking further fun at the rabbit mask. "We'll see, Bun, we'll see."
She was still trying to force the smile back to neutral when she returned her focus on Ripley. The... guy didn't say much did he? Oh s**t, did she already screw up? Was she being unprofessional?! Was he going to write a negative review of her performance based on the meeting alone?!?! And there she went again with the interrobangs and excessive exclamation points.
Calm. Her weapon rasped.
Joy kept the higher ranked Hunter's words at the forefront of her mind. Though she had to wonder just what his definition of being a hero was. She quickly followed after Ripley through the portal and when she arrived on the other side, Joy froze.
She was not expecting this. She'd seen fog before, during those mountain treks she'd gone on. But this? This was not fog. This was some sort of intangible cotton-wool that was blinding as it was disorienting. She summoned Bert without hesitation, but instead of swinging him around, she used him as a sort of walking stick.
Joy proceeded at a snail's pace until the clunk of steel against concrete became a less solid thump. And the smell of decay was suddenly sharp in her nose. The trainee grimaced as she knelt down to find a mutilated corpse.
"Guys?" she called out hoarsely, trying to fight down the urge to vomit from both the sight and smell. She doubted she'd ever get used to either and it would be a sad, sad day if that ever happened.

Clyde gave an amused snort at Joy's new nickname for him but said nothing to it, there was no need. Clyde nodded along up until ripply came to the last comment. Wasn't that the whole point of the organization? Well, sort of? Don't be a hero. He just nodded again for now, figuring it really meant to do anything stupid or self sacrificing. This was exciting though, this would be his first time through one of these portal things... well awake. He stepped thought to... Fog? "Huh..." He heard Joy's call and followed her. The smell of decay assaulted his nose and he wrinkled it as if that would stop the scent from coming in. "Ok, it's definitely killing. And more than once." he gestured to another body not too far away. Clyde pulled out a tape measure, and held it firmly in his hands, fingers traveling over the cool metal.

Fog. Of course it was fog. The Trainees disappeared into it, but he could at least still hear them. The smell of decay was a familiar one, and no matter how revolting it could be, he took a deep breath, allowing the stench to wash over him. It was better than trying to avoid it; and besides, it was inevitable. Might as well get it over with, and numb his senses to the awful smell. Then he made a mental note to down a whole bottle of mouthwash later and shower with steel wool.
"What's wrong, Joy?" He called into the fog, having a guess as to the reason behind the tone of her voice, but not quite wanting to assume. They were stuck in fog; it could have been she found the source of the stench, or perhaps something else. Who knew. Amber eyes just continued to search the area that he could see, unable to find anything of interest.
Until, of course, something shoved him.
A quick look around proved that there was nothing and nobody nearby. It was not a comforting notion.
"We're not alone. Keep sharp." He called into the fog, hoping that the others could hear him.

"Dead body," Joy called out to the fog, hoping that her voice would reach Ripley. She couldn't see the higher-ranked hunter but having visuals on Clyde brought some amount of comfort. Even if she didn't quite get why he was holding a measure tape of all things. "By the looks of it, it's been here some time."
She stood up and stepped sideways, hands waving through the fog and hoping it would somehow, she didn't know what she hoped it would do. Nervous energy was building up inside her again, and it was definitely made worse when she heard a series of loud cracks.
Joy felt the blast of air before she smelled it, sending her stumbling away and setting her lungs on fire. She coughed and shook her head, desperately trying to regain her bearings. "Yeah we've got at least two of them." he called to Ripley. His voice remained steady, but he was feeling nervous. He had expected there might be bodies at some point, that was the point after all, but he couldn't tell what killed them. It wasn't his first time around a dead body though. When you traveled the back roads you see things occasionally. He stuck close to Joy. They had lost sight of Ripley, but he could hear him. hear faintly heard the crack and smelled something. He coughed and this vision swam. This was worst than that one shroom a buddy had handed him. He saw shapes and faces but couldn't really hear anything. He was too disoriented. It felt like his feet weren't even touching the ground. Oh wait they weren't. Something had hit him and sent him tumbling. "Owe." Quote: Boss: 100 HP: 32 Damage: miss

Ripley followed the voices, moving through the fog to try and stay within earshot of the other trainees. It had been a good plan at first, right up until something below them exploded. The fog twisted into a terrible gas, and Ripley began to choke on it, feeling it fill his lungs and lighting his nerves on fire. In the moments it took him to get a grasp on his mental faculties once more, he began to realize something else; he was becoming hyper aware. He could pinpoint with dangerous accuracy how the blood flowed through his finger tips. How the ground beneath him seemed to move. How the fog was more than just just, or the chemical bath they had been treated to; there was more than that here now, he could tell.
Wilhelm, having been summoned early to avoid surprises much like this one, was lifted and swung at one of the shapes in the fog. All the while, he hoped he wasn't hitting one of the trainees.
"You two -" Ripley choked out, his face contorting into an uncomfortable pinch as he tried to separate the forms in the fog. "-Keep talking. In case we - augh - get separated. No friendly fire." He warned, though belatedly as he had already attacked whatever was out there waiting for them.

Brown eyes were saucer-wide, pupils dilated and taking anything and everything Joy could set her sights on. So many figures, so many blurry things, so much so much so much- gotta get them before they get her teammates.
Her grip on her weapon tightened and Joy raised to swing when her weapon roared NO! PROTECT!
Protect? Oh. Yes. Right. Right. Moons defend. Yes, oo nga pala.
"Yesser, Bossing Ripley ser!" Joy yelled, "Bun! I got Ripley's back, you take out anything from the sides!" She wasn't sure of the strategy, wasn't certain how valid or wise their positions are but she heard no friendly fire. If she was going to hurt anything, she was going to make ******** sure it wasn't someone on her team.
"And keep talking! Or something! Anyone want me to sing?" the fog and the gas may have addled her brain a little too much.

From the sides?" Clyde oriented himself back onto his feet. How was he supposed to protect with guns? Van quietly spoke in his head. Trust her. He could do that. he lined up on one side of Ripely and shot behind him to the other side to take care of things. He shot a few of the hands reaching towards him making them pull back. "Sure thing. Shall we sing Joy to the world?"
