It had been a solid few days of preparation. Sebastien had gone several times into the pens with different janarim, some fully trained and some rather unruly. He had studied their movements and sounds, tried to capture their body language and retain it to be used later. The dark-scaled janarim had haunted him, the way it spared him grievous wounds and ran off rather than attacking back. It was hurt, and a hurt animal was often more dangerous but could also be the most open if you could offer it help. So today Sebastien had returned, nearly a week since the last sighting of his target. Hopefully the beast still walked.
He had gone to the same rock ledge and sat there, waiting. It seemed an eternity before the creature arrived, moving more slowly this time. He watched its sides heave as he began down the side to approach. This time the janarim barely regarded him. It didn't startle, but it didn't attack either. He came within ten feet and then stopped.
"Hello again," he said to the beast, "You don't look so well."
The janarim began to rumble, coming toward him in a manner that did not necessarily denote an attack. Its head was now lowered threateningly with nose parallel to the ground, but more so the creature leaned forward and peered at him over its nose. This may be even simpler than Sebastien had thought. A rope already sat looped around his non-dominant arm, pre-tied into a lasso, and the young Charmer stood his ground. Others may not be surprised. Sebastien had been informed more than once that his confidence might be his downfall.

Taming || Janarim Attack Stat || 37 [+7] Speed Stat || 27 [+5] Intelligence || 19 Roll 1 Needed || 75-100 Roll 2 Needed || 95-100 Rolled || 34, 98 Outcome || Failure, but purchasing a taming net
This seemed to anger the beast. Clearly not many people would stand in the way of a janarim, so it was likely it had never seen such defiance. Now its head lowered properly, now its rumble took on a heavier air. Sebastien readied himself in response and cracked his whip at the janarim. It continued to advance. He struck out again and the beast lunged claws-first. Flesh met flesh and Sebastien quickly looped the lasso around the beast's neck and ran away a short distance. It was the same as any other beast; stay out if its striking range and show it who's boss, so that was precisely what Sebastien did. Of course the janarim was not happy about it and continued to strike out time and time again, but it weakened more quickly than others might have. The wound in its side was still unhealed and looked deeply infected. Sebastien walked around the creature for quite a long time and, when it had finally stopped trying to eat him, pulled from his bag a slab of meat wrapped in paper and held it out. The janarim looked to the tasty morsel, back to Sebastien, and then returned to the meat.
"But what about bribery, hm?"
