If he was going to capture the odd wounded janarim in the wild he was going to have to learn to read the species' body language. There were universals for predators, but at the same time there was a lot of new and unique traits for each species and then, as he'd learned, even more for specific members of the species.
This time he was not alone, at least not entirely. He was on the compound with one of a currently untamed janarim all of the experienced workers were taking cracks at. It had been captured, not bred, and it was a rather large and muscular specimen. Undoubtedly he would sell for quite a bit to either the army or a professioal breeder.
He'd have to be careful, but at the same time he'd have to rile the thing up if he wanted to learn anything. For this reason, he hopped the fence and immediately cracked his whip, advancing on the beast. The janarim, predictably enough, puffed up and roared at the intruder. Sebastien noted the movement of his plates and raised his whip. He gave a glottal noise and cracked it, and the janarim began to approach, head lowered in that same way that the wounded wild janarim had done. He cracked the whip again and tested his luck, stomping forward. The janarim took a swipe at his leg, but he whipped it in the side, watching its movements carefully. He teased the beast for quite a span of time, dodging half-hearted attacks of annoyance and watching each step, each threat, listening to each vocalization and trying to gain some sort of control over the situation.

Finally the janarim relented and Sebastian wondered if it was just bored of him or if he was actually doing good work toward taming the great beast. He liked to think it was the latter simply because he had worked here so long and even assisted the others in breaking the more dangerous and difficult creatures. Janarim and gerru were just about as nasty and enormous as it got and he had dealt with both in the past. The janarim did a lazy circle around the pen, pointedly ignoring the Charmer who rounded it as well. He approached the beast and began to push out a hand, but a snort caused him to pull it back quickly. At least it didn't seem like the animal was gearing up for an attack. He liked both his hands just where they were, thank you. He reached out again and moved to touch its nose, but the beast leaned away and disallowed it. Sebastien smirked and tried again. This time the janarim began to rumble in anger. Alright, so 'tamed' no, but maybe getting better? The Charmer took a step back and cracked his whip, scolding the beast. This angered it and it lunged forward, not near enough to actually catch a mouthful of flesh but threatening him nonetheless. He cracked the whip again and an angry roar echoed across the compound. A coworker happened by and called to Sebastien who didn't take his eyes from the beast but gave a call back. The janarim threatened him again, approaching once more, and Sebastien went over the fence, deciding that he had studied enough for today.
