Old Profile here

Name: Serfie (s-err-fee)

Age: 27

Gender: Female

Sexual Orientation: Straight

Craft/Rank: Rider - Breeding Crimson

History: Serfie has never known life within a Hold or a Weyr or any such structures life. Her parents were Holdless, her father banished for 'accidentally' killing more than one man in brawls, He'd gotten away with it for a while since he was a big man and had made it seem like an accident each time, however the cause of his dismissal and branding was the death of the son of of a minor Lord of a neighbouring Hold. It had been no accident, Serfie's father had beaten the man to death after being bested in the brawl. Her mother stood by her husband and they were both branded Holdess forever. The pair wandered for a while just they two until Serfie's mother became pregnant, her father, determined that they couldn't cope alone (meaning he couldn't get his wife to do most of the work instead of him) and met up with other Holdess, forming a small, nomadic group of people that lived off the land and kept themselves secret. They often raided trader caravans that passed through.

Serfie howver knew nothing of her parent's history, since even with their daughter they kept up a proud front, if one of the Holdless went missing after a fight with her father, Serfie never noticed, since as Holdless they went missing all the time, either to raid, then getting caught or other reasons. Her whole life Serfie had been lied to, told that the Weyrs had fire breathing monsters that ate anyone that went near, they had masters, semi human ones that fraternised with their creatures, controlled them, some strange unknown thing keeping the monsters from eating them.
Holds were no different, anyone that wasn't rich or had fancy clothes was caught, tortured, made to be a slave with no food except when people pitied them. She was told that the only safe thing to do was to stay on the move, away from large crowds of people, ESPECIALLY the buildings.

The first time Serfie saw a monster and it's human creature was when she was about 8 turns old , she screamed and ran for cover, she was sure that the monster had heard her because it turned it's head towards where she'd hidden and watched the pair circle lower, she trembled afraid that the creaure was going to find her and eat her but as she watched it's eyes whirled in different colors that was hard to miss, well that wasn't monstrous, that was kind of pretty looking and although the person perched on it's back was dressed oddly (to her) he didn't seem scary at all. In fact the 'monsters' reminded her of Whers but more graceful looking, and Whers were sharding scary sometimes. She'd seen the wounds before from wild ones. She was fascinated and almost stepped out to talk to the human, she would have done had her father not grabbed the collar of her grubby shirt and clamped a hand over her mouth, dragging her back to camp. He spent some time explaining what had occured and just a few short hours later the Holdless camp had moved on. However this experience left an impression on Serfie, she was fascinated by the big wherlike creatures, they hadn't seemed as frightening as her parents and other Holdless had described, in fact once she'd seen her first Fire Lizard she rather thought the were just giant flits, and flits weren't mean unless you stumbled across a female with eggs.

When Thread began falling the Holdless moved to caves and underground tunnels, the moment 'monsters' appeared overhead they would scurry to their hiding places. Having learned from bitter experience, more than once, what that awful stuff falling from the sky could do to a person.Serfie herself lost her father to the dreaded stuff, he'd been hunting and had been caught out in that first Threadfall, not knowing what the stuff could do. That same day Serfie had seem the 'monsters' flaming for the first time and though the air stank she couldn't help but watch until she was forced to take cover. The group of Holdless had been lucky that day that they'd only lost Serfie's father. It was only by sheer luck of being camped in a forest that was protected by these 'monsters' that they escaped more death that first day. The decision was made to stay in the forest, the 'monsters' didn't seem to be looking for anyone when they were flaming, in fact they were destroying the awful things that fell from the sky. The groundcrews however were something to fear and they made sure they were hidden by the time the 'monsters' vanished from the skies to make way for human ground crew.

A couple of turns later, Serfie never really kept track of time passing, every day was a struggle to keep hidden, to survive and make sure they had enough to eat, A great big shiny 'monster' landed near to where the group had been thinking of camping, being on the move again was tiring, they wanted a sevenday maybe to rest but they hadn't dared. The person with the big shiny monster was a girl and Serfie was instantly curious, her mother had died from an infection due to the forest and a gash in her side from a wild Wher. They'd done their best but she'd died, and no one except Serfie was upset about it, even then Serfie had grown distant, not having her father to be the controlling influence on her and her mother had made Serfie more adventurous and Serfie as a result had been spending more and more time alone and not in the camp. So when Serfie never returned to the travelling group no one really paid much attention, Holdless went missing all the time, it didn't do any good to dwell on them, just keep moving.

She began hanging around the trader caravans, knowing they visited the Holds and Weyrs. Through them she learned that the 'monsters' were called Dragons and their humans were their Riders. She also learned of somewhere new, with only a few dragons. Something that wasn't quite a Weyr, not quite a Hold. She was curious and hovered around for a while, working up the courage to approach. Eventually she did approach, her first encounter happened to be with the Goldrider leading the Weyrhold, and actually making one of her first real friends. She joined Euclid and worked with the beastcrafters as well as studying to become a possible candidate after she had expressed interest in the possible Impression of a Dragon. However it still took her a while to get used to being around large crowds, she never got over being uncomfortable though, she can tolerate it however.

Time Jump:
When Serfie heard of Gold Sharath's poisoning (after all, who wouldn't have heard) she felt sick inside, sure she'd been raised to see Dragons as monsters but then she would think of Natai's Gold and imagining her dying and it would turn Serfie's stomach, Even when hunting to survive Serfie never used poison as a method to kill, it was abhorrent to her, to let a creature suffer like that, just for revenge? Serfie was angry and when the call came that Sharath's eggs were hatching, Serfie asked Natai to be allowed to attend, she wanted to see the Gold's eggs, to see that they were safe, as well as gaining valuable experience by attending a hatching, even just as an observer. Gaining permission to go she hitched a ride with a Rider that was also attending.

The last thing Serfie expected was to Impress one of the Crimson hatchlings who's shell was smashed by one of the resident Goldriders, she couldn't have known which. She'd been sitting towards the back when she heard someone calling her name, looking round there was no one looking at her, they were all looking down at the clutch, watching one little Crimson, well bigger than the other, stubbornly making her way towards the steps leading to the Stands, at that moment, looking at the Crimson, full Impression was made, that little red 'monster' was hers, would ALWAYS be hers, would never leave or hurt her. That little red 'monster' was Tigrith. She was rather clueless about Atypes and had a tougher time than the regular weyrlings raising her but with the help of the Weyrlingmaster and others, she raised Tigrith well and the Crimson turned out to be larger than the average she had researched. During her weyrlinghood at Trine, Serfie made it clear that once Tigrith was old enough she would be relocating back to Euclid, however during that time Trine and the Wherholds were at loggerheads still, especially after the death of Sharath and the Weyr wanting revenge so there was a lot of pressure on her to stay and become a fighter but she refused, her 'place' was at Eculid. It was tough trying to 'fit in' at Trine, but she learned a lot, especially about Tigrith, and herself, during that time. She'd never been a shy person but she grew in confidence in herself, and actually became unafraid to admit she had been Holdless, while she wasn't especially proud of the things she and her group of Holdless had done, she was proud of herself, for having survived and having the courage to leave, had she not, she'd never have met Natai and earned her first real friend, and she would never have Impressed her wonderful Tigrith.

Once Tigrith was mature, she and her crimson decided along the path of a breeder, despite Serfie's want to be more useful as a fighter, Serfie had seen how Tigrith was around youngsters, even her own clutchmates and the younger Weyrlings, she was gentle and tender and it plucked at Serfie's heartstrings, so instead of arguing her point with her dragon, she let Tigrith choose their path and Tigrith dearly wanted the chance to have her own babies. In fact once mature, til present day, Tigrith has had 5 clutches, albeit smaller ones. However the times Tigrith doesn't clutch leaves her depressed for about a week, leaving Serfie confused and torn about the decision she made to let Tigrith clutch, wondering if it had been a mistake, yet seeing Tigrith with her babies warmed Serfie's heart enough to know she had made the right choice for her soulmate. Serfie herself, has no intentions of having children, despite Tigrith's urgings whenever she is cooing over a clutch.

Serfie, having moved to Euclid when Tigrith was old enough, stayed out of the politics of things that happened between Trine and the Wherholds. Euclid having taken no part in the war so Serfie and Tigrith had the chance to grow mostly unaffected by the happenings, at least personally. However Serfie did give a cheer and had more than a few drinks over Keller's death, he had the right idea, which was part of the reason Euclid existed, but she knew his methods were abhorrent, She did feel bitter about the fact he died by the same thing he and his had killed Tigrith's mother with though.

When Euclid joined with Trine Serfie was more than a little miffed, what was the point in founding Euclid in the first place if they were going to abandon things now and go back to Trine? Still, Serfie respected and trusted that Natai knew what she was doing but Serfie struggled once again to 'fit in' with Trine. She preferred Euclid's territories, preferred living like they had, it worked and worked well for them. However after a while Serfie settled into the routine of Trine. Then the fall of the Golds happened and Serfie found hserlf with more options than before, none she really felt like pursuing, she was happy with how she and Tigrith were, she had no interest in politics and advancing. She had ambition sure, but that ambition was geared towards keeping her and Tigrith healthy and alive, she had no interest in leading, especially when seeing what those leaders previously had caused. Despite all the traditions and fighting, turns after his death, Keller's plan and idea stll survived, those Goldriders and followers that refused to conform, fled to the forests, turning rogue, and were hunted by those that accepted the new Regime. Serfie and Tigrith are torn over this however, as it means more death, more killing in the name of beliefs, rather than concentrating on their real enemy, Thread.

Description: She's thin, very thin but she's got a wiry sort of strength to her that is hidden behind her usually oversized and grubby clothes. Her hair is a light brown and lank, it's dirty so it seems much darker and it's crudely cut short, it's obvious a knife had been used rather than proper clippers. Her eyes seem big in her face but once she eats regularly and puts weight on they won't seem so large. They're a dark honey golden brown color and her eyelashes are very long, she could almost be called pretty ... if she was cleaned up and fed a regular diet. However she will never lose the wary, wild look about her. She's got a long scar down her face from her father before he died, he'd been drinking and had been on a rampage, he'd attacked her mother and Serfie had tried to stop him, He'd caught her with the kinfe he'd been sharpening. Thannkfully it hadn't gotten infected but it had been deep and had taken a long time to heal, hence the deepness. She has multiple other scars all over her body, gotten from living 'in the wild'. She lacks the obvious marks that brand others as Holdless so it's not obvious what she is at first glance.

Personality: Serfie is extremely guarded, she seems almost animal-like in her manner, She doesn't like to talk much at all but she is very good at listening. She's not quick to anger though, she'd seen enough of that in her father to ever be as volatile as he had been, that said if the situation calls for it she's not afraid of sticking up for herself, or someone else for that matter. One thing she has never tolerated is bullying, growing up she often put bullies in their place, beating them at their own games, if they got verbally abusive, she'd return the favour, if they got violent, so did she. She's not afraid to physically defend herself but she makes a point of not using violence unless someone hit her first, sure sometimes she got beat but she always puts up a good fight. She's quiet and prefers not to mingle right away, it takes a while for her to trust anyone at all. She doesn't show her emotions well but if she does show someone how she feels it's a pretty strong thing, she prefers to keep things to herself, to deal with things internally and she will NEVER cry in front of people. She would have to trust you very very well before she would willingly cry when someone can see her. She doesn't like physical touching, she'll flinch away every time. She can socialise though, she'd had to among the Holdless but she will keep to herself whenever possible. Serfie isn't shy by normal standards, sure she prefers to be alone or away from the Weyrbred and Holdbred but that's a lifetime of caution (and lies). She's confident in what she can do, new things might take a bit of learning, for example reading and writing, she's not all that great at it which will make lessons difficult for her but she will work as hard as she can to get it right. She doesn't often make the same mistake twice either, since something like that could have gotten her killed in the jungle, with felines and wild whers and the like. She's quicker at learning something practical than she is something that involves speaking or writing because it's just easier for her to learn by DOING than by just watching. She doesn't really have any dreams except Surviving day to day and maybe getting to know her 'monsters' better. She wouldn't mind being close to Dragons. Whers on the other hand she will always remain very twitchy around, she can't bring herself to trust the creatures.

Serfie likes to draw, she has a small scrapbook that she keeps very private, no one that knows her knows she has it. She doesn't think she's very good but when she has time to herself, the rare moments she's relaxed, she often draws the wildlife. At the moment she doesn't want to open up to anyone, she hasn't met anyone that's been willing to get through that survivalist outer layer, the holdless certainly never did, they'd needed her hunting skills too much to care about much else. When it comes to most important choices she'll always go with her gut, like leaving the Holdless camp that had been everything she'd ever known, going to the caravans to learn about her 'monsters' then coming to the Weyrhold.

Other: She has a way with animals, being animal like herself. She understands them, gives them their space when they need it. She prefers the company of them too. They don't ask anything of her like humans do.

Dragon Name: Tigrith
Dragon Colour: Crimson
Dragon Inspiration: Zodiac Tiger - Won from Aged-Out contest here
Build & Size: Large & Above Average
Personality: Tigrith is sensitive to the feelings of those around her, often adjusting her demeanour to suit the needs of those closest to her, however she's a spitfire when angered and that doesn't take much, Serfie often has to calm the Crimson's temper when her back is up, reminding her to be patient, that she can get her own back but not when anger clouds her judgement. Serfie having learned this herself when she was Holdless. When Tigrith has it in her mind to do something and to do it well, she will push herself to the extremes in a tireless attempt to be perfect, however she's more cautious when it comes to showing said talent, second guessing herself a lot. She has a lot of love to give to those she feels are her true family, which at the moment is Serfie and those Serfie deems her friends. Tigrith hates seeing others sad however, most of the time she just tolerates others but if she sees someone upset, she will try and make it better, either herself or through Hers. Something Serfie finds difficult, especially with a stranger. Tigrith adores anything young, even when she's angry, a cute baby giggle or young thing playing innocently can calm her and make her smile, she does her best to be around youngsters, especially Weyrlings, even more especially, her own offspring, she tries to make sure to remember all her babies but that's difficult, even for her. She has clutched about 5 times since Maturing, less than the average but enough that she has her own progeny among Trine now, merging herself and Serfie into Trine's social structure.

Status: Breeder - Serfie would rather have Tigrith become a fighter but soon after Impressing it became clear that Tigrith had a great affinity and affection for the young. As much as Serfie wanted to spare her dragon the disappointment if she didn't clutch, she couldn't deny her the CHANCE to have babies of her own but she hates having to deal with a depressed Crimson when she realises she's not clutching after a while after she Rose

(note, do a solo of Tigrith and Serfie deciding to be a breeder over a fighter pair)

SOLO RP - Serfie and Tigrith Decide about Breeder vs Fighter

Serfie had been half dozing in a memory of finding Tigrith among the newest Weyrlings, enjoying the smaller dragons now she was almost fully grown, being already almost as big as the average Brown, once fully mature she would be bigger, not by much but she was also chunky with muscle. Soon it would be time to decide what they were going to do with their lives once Tigrith was mature, technically it should have been made but Serfie had put it off a little, explaining that Tigrith was still too immature to choose, however she couldn't do that for much longer.

came the familiar and loving voice of Tigrith

"Nothing new Tig, just thinking about our choice, i know i wanted us to decide to fight but ...." Serfie sighed "Tig love, my heart, i'm not going to stand in your way, what YOU decide is what will be best for us, i know" She rubbed her face, running a finger down the scar, feeling the familiar ache as the skin stretched a little under her hand. It was difficult, they were still at Trine, were expected to decide what was best for the Weyr there, not for Euclid.

Tigrith closed her eyes and huffed out a breath, kicking up dust at Serfie

"And time is what you will get my sweet Tigrith, no one is going to force you to decide before you are ready, not even these Trine buggers"

scolded Tigrith, who believed in fairness where it was due.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Time passed, in fact it was three sevendays before Tigrith was ready to decide, having spent time with young Weyrlings and the other younglings she enjoyed being around but she had already spent some time with the fighters of the Weyr, especially the fighting Crimsons. Impulsive she may be but this was a decision that could not be made rashly and she refused to JUST go with her heart, Serfie had given her that much by not forcing her into a choice.
"Are you sure?"
"Of course, i love you Tig"
Together they walked, to the Weyrlingmaster. "We have decided"
Good start but there's some things that need to be adjusted before you begin play!
  • The portion about her being lied to all her life is incorrect. Even being holdless and even being biased, the Holdless know what Dragons are and what their purpose is. The lie could be that the dragonmen are a bunch of greedy, over-reaching, overbearing, patronizing, arrogant, tryanical overlords but definitely not monsters. Address this misconception throughout your history.
  • In the same vein as above, it's possible that she was told they would be arrested/detained/imprisoned simply for being Holdless if they ever encountered dragonmen and for that reason alone, to avoid them if they wanted their freedom.
  • You say they were living in the area of the First Fall but that was in Malvren. How did her group cross the ocean to what I presume you're implying is Trine's jungles?
  • Is the shiny dragon you mention in their history anyone specific?
  • In the last paragraph of her history, she would have already known that dragons are dragons. Perhaps she learns through observation that they're not a bunch of moronic jerks.
  • In regards to her leaving, you can do that however the conditions/consequences of her doing/voicing those actions/opinions are as follows:
    A record of no loyalty
    A record of significant insubordination
    Not fit to lead
    Unreliable
    Not a priority for training or resources
  • You specify a number of clutches but don't link to their evidence, please show me where the rolls are for the clutches. If you cannot, please re-roll in the old guild somewhere and link.
  • In regards to the Rogues: They're basically chased off of Trine's Territories to keep them from filching resources, dragons, and mates. They're more of an irritation or nuisance then something to be killed on sight. There's not as much bloodshed as you're inclined to believe there is.
Address these concerns and you're good to go~
