Unfortunately for Sebastien, the janarim had also decided that it was time to go home. 'Home' for the janarim appeared to be somewhere along a parallel path to the compound, at least in the beginning. It was the laborious breathing that caught the Charmer's attention a second time. An irritated janarim with a side wound made its own sort of threatening huffs, and he froze. The dark shape was only a shadow at first, appearing beyond the rock wall beside where Sebastien was walking. Hopefully it would just continue on. If he was lucky, the janarim would miss him entirely and continue on his way.

Then the janarim froze.

Sebastien saw it stop, the shade it cast going abruptly still. He saw it raise its head and sniff the air. Hopefully that was some tasty xaraan the beast smelled, but no. It surveyed the area and cautiously began again, feet raking audibly against the ground. Its head appeared beyond the end of the wall and turned toward the Charmer who had since put his whip away.

The young man moved slowly, drawing his whip again with care, not wanting to startle the creature into attacking. It unraveled at his hip and gave a soft 'thwup' as it reached the dirt. For a few tense moments, the two just stood there, watching each other. Sebastien did not feel comfortable attacking the war beast and it seemed to be considering whether or not an especially squishy, declawed prey would be on the menu today. Seconds felt like they lasted hours and then all of a sudden the janarim snorted, turned away, and began back across the plain.
