Name: Isaiah Zähne (pronounced TSAY-nuh)

Nickname: Ice; a hefty list of pseudonyms may count for nicknames

Age: 26

Birthday: November 13th

Sign: Scorpio

Gemstone: Topaz

Blood Type: O-

Fav. Food: The plastic fruits that sit in dishes and never spoil.

Hated Food: The edible kind.

School: Has master's degree and no plans to continue schooling

Hobbies:

Charcoal drawing - As one of Isaiah’s primary mediums, charcoal is both a pleasure and a pain to work with. The depth in contrast proves appealing, but the medium itself produces such a messiness that charcoal dust often coats everything around his workspace before he finishes a project. His favorite subjects for charcoal rendering are still life arrangements and people (although he prefers to feature people with tweaks to the maxillofacial area). He does not sell his drawings, he does not showcase them, and most often they end up in a box in a closet as part of his ‘archival’ process. Charcoal supersedes watercolor and ink as far as favored fine arts practices go.

Trespassing - Destiny City has the perfect setup for anyone interested in breaking and entering. Due to the high volume of crime and death related to the terrorists, there isn’t much police coverage allocated to the steadily growing number of abandoned buildings that are otherwise trapped in legal limbo. Isaiah thoroughly enjoys taking advantage of this predicament to make use of these abandoned spaces and convert them to small grottos. Additionally, he has little trouble with breaking into owned homes, though he is much more vigilant and careful in doing so. He has gotten caught in the past, and knows he will get caught in the future - it’s simply a matter of how it will go down.

Counting Calories - Eating is a numbers game. A can of soup houses 220 calories, with 90 calories from fat. That leaves 130 calories from other sources, and how many of those calories are actually empty? Diets are fascinating, nutrition facts are fascinating, and everything surrounding the act of eating and its cultural significance triggers Isaiah’s interest. He will often spend an hour in the grocery store picking up items and reading their nutrition labels over actually shopping. He also likes to regale people with stories on how many calories are in that salted caramel frappuccino because they often feel guilty for drinking it, and guilt looks good on most faces.

Transgressive Fiction - What is stranger than fiction? Reality provides a nice foil, but transgression takes the cake for taking the bizarre and adding a shade of darkness. Isaiah reads, writes, and animates transgressive fiction to a delighted degree and has no compunctions about impressing its uncomfortable nature onto others. He has written transgressive shorts in the past, and started a commendable collection of the books alongside other cherished favorites. He finds their stories quite palatable and applicable to some of the running themes of real life. He does not often share this hobby with other people, but there have been many occasions where he starts developing transgressive vignettes starring the particularly boring fellow sitting across from him at the bistro.

Virtues:

Curious - The world around him does not reveal secrets without questioning, so why expect it to unveil without doing so? Isaiah wants to know how the world works, how people work, what they think about, what to do with them, and why he himself is the way he is (among a plethora of other questions). Sometimes this curiosity manifests childishly, but mostly it shows his interest and reflects favorably to the people around him.

Attentive - One does not learn by being absent; Isaiah is both highly grounded in his surroundings and highly interested in them. He is one of the people who internalizes the fact that this person has unusual purple eyes ,and that their leaf green hair works as a particularly potent contrast. When told of a hobby concerning underwater basket weaving, he will remember it at a later date where other conversationalists might not. He finds people highly interesting, just as how he finds adjusting symbols to reality highly interesting. Isaiah will also recognize when noted features of a room shift and change, which might make him a candidate for gaslighting. He is also someone who typically doesn’t step into potholes and break his ankle. It’s important to know your surroundings.

Passionate - Once of a special level of interest, an idea or thought or person receives unprecedented focus from him. The subject invokes immense concentration and emotions, and he is probably capable of discussing it for hours. If gardening caught his eye, for example, then he would spend countless hours learning from different gardeners, drawing sketches of plants, planning hybrid breeds, investing in his own small garden, and reading the latest horticultural findings. People will find themselves analyzed and doted on in his own particularly terrible brand, but the intentions are still there.

Flaws:

Uncouth - Isaiah simultaneously loves culture and loves to wreck it. Isaiah consciously and intentionally speaks out of line, violates social guidelines, invites interpersonal disaster and at basest point, simply makes an a** of himself. While he does believe that people are genuinely fascinating, sometimes they just aren’t so until one pisses them off. This results in Isaiah lacking quite a few friends, alienating the people who might want to be his friends, and pissing off all the wrong people until it’s time to move to another new town. The worst of it is, he sees no reason to change this behavior because look at all the places he’s been and all the people he’s met because of it!

Unhinged - There have been considerations in the past that Isaiah is batshit. While there are no official diagnoses pointing to any mental upset, Isaiah does commit to a great many activities that call into question his interest in survival. He often makes transgressive moves that directly threaten his social standing, safety, or connections without any overt benefit in making that choice. Much of his actions seem absent reason to the typical onlooker, which discourages many in getting mixed up with him. What would happen if befriending him meant that he might gamble away their safety on a whim too?

Unstoppable - Once his mind is set on a particular course of action, he will not give it up. Once he has determined that someone is worth dragging into his life, he will embed his every hook under their skin and drag until they capitulate or he is trailed behind them on their journeys. Isaiah does not know the meaning of the word ‘relent’ and has no plans to learn it. Such heavy fixation has a tendency to drive people off. More personally, that obsessive quality can and has caused great injury for Isaiah.

PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION

Eyes: Tarnished gold, narrow.

Hair: Black, feathered, side parted on right and drawn over from right side to left side of the head. Bangs reach chest length on both sides. The rest of his hair remains shorter, at shoulder length.

Face: Pointed chin, angled jawline, slight gauntness to features. Cheekbones are recognized but not prominent. Caucasian complexion; he is working on his moontan too. Think heroin chic.

Clothes: Likes to dress industrial. Attempts to look classy sometimes for a greater sting when his garbage wit comes out to play. Has a fancy lighter strung about his neck for breakfast, lunch, and dinner smokes.

Knight Title: Scholomance, Page of Saturn
Alt. option: Akeldama

On Scholomance:
(While Scholomance is mentioned by name in 1897 at earliest, there is evidence supporting its existence in pre-Christian Transylvanian lore long before. Unfortunately not all history is of written account, and if it was, certain parties like to set things on fire.)

Scholomance both has direct relation and descent from the word solomonari, which refers to a kind of seer that rides cloud dragons and controls the weather. They are said to be the product of Scholomance. Some evidence suggests that the name is a misnomer from solomonari itself, which seems to be accurate. There is no record of Scholomance prior to the 1800s book mentioned in the link, though there is an identical place under a different name...

Solomonari, however, have ties that began around the ninth century with the Khazar Jews who settled in the area. The mention of recruitment in the article suggests a method of transforming normal townsfolk into solomonari - therefore there is not much jump to assume this transformation occurred at an actual location. Solomonari are of direct relation to King Solomon.

Interestingly, the solomonari look like an adaptation of a Dacian myth (Romanian ancestors). Hultans had much the same descriptors as solomonari, being that they are special in some way (born with a caul on both accounts), are taken to a location to study magic, and must write all their wisdom into a book. The difference is the destination for that magic study: for the Hultans, they studied in Crugul Pamantului, or the middle of the earth. Solomonari studied in Scholomance. Being Dacian myth alone already validates the myth as past the thousand-year mark required of a knight wonder.

So what is the difference between the Hultans and Crugul Pamantului, versus the Solomonari and Scholomance?

Names, mostly.

It looks like Judeo-Christian influence led to mixing ancient Romanian lore with JC influence and it culminated in both a) the ties of Hultans to Solomon and b) the association of Solomonari and the devil (as magic was loathed by that religion).

So why pick Scholomance, and not Crugul Pamantului, which is effectively the same place?

Scholomance is recognized, threaded into a Bram Stoker novel, and much more popularized among pop culture. Who is gonna know what Crugul Pamantului is, let alone means?

Template: M11 body with M9 crossed arm + head, and M2 curled arm? Adjust angle of curled arm for natural look, or hand edit to something less fisty

Challenge: Have you put another ‘t’ in ‘morality’ today?

Uniform:

Top -- this being the version on the right, simplified in that there should be leather belts with gold fasteners holding it shut instead of eyelets and the weird crystal straps. I would like for the middle segment and collar to be Saturn swatch near-black and the rest of the coat as Saturn swatch blue.
Bottoms -- Fitted trousers! Should be Saturn swatch light grey. See shorts on the left for trouser style around the waist area.
Gloves -- White gloves!
Belt -- No belt.
Shoes -- Something like these made into boots? Should have buttons up the side. The top part of the knee-high boot should be unbuttoned and folded down. Saturn swatch near-black and Saturn swatch blue for colors, gold for accents?
Shoulders -- None yet.
Accessories -- Pseudo-vertebra cuff on the bicep area of one sleeve (same shoulder as feather tuft). Requesting a lower face mask. Color TBD; whatever looks good there really.
Weapon -- Bone ring > sinew cane (cartilaginous aka bendy and totally just meant to be dapper) > bone whip
Magic --

Page - Charming smile?

Squire - Parva Morta
Duration: 30 second maximum magic pool
Distance: Victims can be tagged up to 20 feet from Scholomance himself
Number affected: Up to 3 'tagged' based on line of sight
Extra: Magic 'tethers' at 20 feet from Scholomance barring sight interruption
Description: Scholomance summons a death knell that will immediately affect 'tagged' characters (anyone focused on by Scholomance within line of sight). Any targeted character will have their corporeal form turned into a ghastly spirit-form, and will find that any attack or attempt made toward corporeal bodies will only pass through their form. In trade, corporeal characters will be unable to strike or harm those who are rendered as spirits. Spirits will see the world around them as an inverted, crumbling version of their current location. Corporeal characters will look to them as blots of energy rather than people. Spirits can still attack each other, and both corporeal and incorporeal characters can attack Scholomance, as he is the link between the illusory otherworld and the real world. Breaking his concentration will end the attack prematurely.

During channeling, Scholomance's magic actively damages him as tradeoff. Effects start at full body ache and exhaustion and can lead up to immediate collapse afterward, depending on circumstances. He is also completely immobile while casting and cannot attack any targets.

Hey, Strick!

I think you have a really solid reason on why you prefer this name to the alternative and have put a lot of research into it and the argument you presented with it. I think your logic behind it is perfectly reasonable; to ensure there is no accidental overlap, when you get the character powered we will add "Crugul Pamantului" to the locked list! Otherwise, all of this looks fabulous to me!
