They swarmed the sidewalks of the city, puuing and buuing and scuttling towards a certain place like a moving furry carpet.
The puffskis that had settled in Destiny City for a while began moving towards a hill on the outskirts of the city. The area around it was lightly forested, with plenty of bushes and other obstacles to hide in or around. Once there, they gathered, chattering among themselves in their puffskish language and seemingly waiting for something to happen.
Megrez had been at home when she saw the rivers of fluff scurrying past her house. She felt something drop into her stomach; as the one who brought all these puffs here, she felt she had the responsibility of seeing just what they were up to. She left home to investigate, powered up, and pursued the puffskis to their spot on the hill. On her way, she was greeted with numerous calls of "Mepuu!" from the puffskis. Some gathered around her, while others resumed talking with their buddies. Sitting on a stump at the top of the hill, she pulled out her senshi phone, and sent Sadachbia and Glitnir texts to come meet her. It's the hill with all the puffskis on it. You can't miss it.
Sadachbia arrived first, excitement in full flare. She literally squeed out loud when she saw the massive cluster of puffs on top of the hill. "There's so many of them! And they're so cute!" She picked one up and held it close to her face, and it bumped her nose in greeting. "Hello to you too!" She set it down and then carefully made her way to Megrez through the clusterpuff. "What do you think they're all doing here? Are they holding some kind of meeting? I wish I could tell what they were saying."
The puffski closest to Megrez bumped Sadachbia's ankle and asked, "Puu?" Megrez said to it, "This is Sadachbia. Say hi!" and it said, "Puu buu, Sadabuu!"
"So cute," Sadachbia said, clasping her hands together.
Glitnir arrived a bit later, with Cor Caroli in tow. He wasn't quite feeling up to snuff, particularly after the previous day's events, but he figured a walk to investigate the puffy things wouldn't hurt. They seemed harmless anyway, so perhaps the worst that could happen was he got weird alien puff dander on him and his dad sneezed a bit (Tribble dander?). He wanted Cor Caroli with him to keep him from brooding too long, or at least to monitor his condition for a bit. "Hey, sorry we're late. This is Cor Caroli."
Cor Caroli was in an even worse mood. After yesterday's spectacle, the unsettled feeling only got worse, and between a general feeling of gloom and an inability to find a place for himself, he was feeling frustrated and sour. Nonetheless, when he arrived at the place full of puffs, he felt some of the dark clouds inside him shift. They had been present at his awakening, so he didn't particularly mind seeing them again. He smiled wanly and waved at the two girls at the top of the hill.
Megrez was happy to see her friends (plus Glitnir's guest) had arrived to investigate as well, but she found herself wondering if others would come to look too. The stream of puffskis emigrating from the town was a fairly public happening; surely there would be at least one other curious person coming to take a look?
Quote: Hey guys! This is the beginning of Puff-and-Go-Seek! In this phase, everyone can arrive, mingle, and get settled. Remember, even if you didn't sign up, you're free to drop your characters in during this opening phase (and maybe a round or two into the game, depending on timing and circumstances)! The dice game will most likely start some time on Tuesday, pending no further RL issues. The rules will be reposted at that time too. Come on in!

Eurydike had tried to embrace the whole powered life thing, you know, for greater justice and purpose and all that. He went out and patrolled whenever he could, which beat sitting at home and staring at a wall. He had never slept much anyway. - maybe that was all true, but under the weird pink and white get-up, he was still a guy working two jobs and running around all night. So, when he'd realize slapping on the hero persona didn't exactly keep him from his cigarettes, the end result was he was smoking a little more than usual. Just a little.
He was puffing away at one, wishing his free hand was clutching a cup of coffee, when the puffs themselves streamed by in a torrent. The senshi clentched his cigarette tighter between his teeth, clicking his tongue. He was trying to embrace this whole powered life thing, like he'd said. - that meant costumed weirdos and magic and fighting and even talking cats that shot lasers sometimes.
Giant gatherings of these already weird puff guys he'd been hearing about? - did this ever stop getting ******** weird? "Just had to move to Destiny City, " he grumbled, somehow managing to keep a sour face even as he walked amidst a herd of the cutest little cuties.
It was kind of a no-brainer when he got to the hill and found, what, five powered energy signatures there? He scaled the hill easily and came to a stop, crossing his arms stubborn even as a puffski rubbed against his leg. He shot Etamin a look, brow raised, as he asked, "Seriously? - do you have a TV? They've been going on about these things for weeks." Or so he'd heard. Personally speaking, Eurydike didn't have a TV. But people at work gossiped, so he'd heard something through the grapevine - and even if he hadn't, he'd seen them here and there on his walks to and from work.
Eurydike glanced at the others there - two senshi he didn't know, one senshi and a knight he recognized. "You two were at the gym, " he reflected out loud. Hadn't really had much of a chance for introductions there. "So, what? People've been sayin' these things are harmless, right? - so anyone know what this is all about?"
Sami-Fire If anything about the reportings of the puffs in DC media is incorrect, just lemme know and I'll tweak away!
Sailor Hawk Sorry he's a little cranky sounding, he's a little sleep deprieved biggrin ;

Sadachbia noticed another Egyptian-style senshi (Etamin) approaching and waved enthusiastically to him. "Hi there! I think Megrez can tell you about them the best." She carefully made her way through the puffs to him. "Nice fuku. What's your sphere?" she said with a smile. "I'm Sadachbia, Senshi of Construction. Who are you?" It made her a little excited to see that she wasn't the only senshi with Egyptian influences on her fuku. It was a bit curious, since Egypt didn't exist in the Silver Millennium to create those influences, but some things could be left a mystery.
A spacey-looking civilian woman (Evren) appeared, and Glitnir called out to her. "Hey, are you lost?" If this woman was looking to go to the grocery store, she was very, very lost. He came a little closer to her. "I can escort you back to the city, if you'd like." He figured the woman could use a little guidance; what if she had spaced out and a Negaverse agent came to attack her? Destiny City had a way of making people focus, he thought.
Cor Caroli lazily looked to Eurydike when he mentioned the gym. "Oh, yeah, we were. I think I remember seeing you, kinda." His tone was duller and less enthusiastic than usual. He had had a little sleep deprivation himself; loss of the nature he had experienced wasn't terribly conducive to peaceful rest. "Do you know what happened after that big-a** aura dropped in? We got out after that."
Megrez had been distracted by the leader puffski puu-buuing enthusiastically about something when she noticed that people had arrived. "Hi everybody!" she called out. "If you came here because of the puffballs, they're called puffskis! They lived on my planet long ago. One came back to see me, and then it went and brought all its friends here!" That would have to suit as a summary for now.

"Osiris?" Sadachbia said. "Funny how that works out, huh? An Egyptian-style senshi actually gets an Egyptian god's name. I can't remember what he's the god of though." She paused, then added, "Sadachbia means 'Lucky Star of the Homes.' I guess it fits, since my sphere is construction."
Glitnir was faced with the problem of explaining what was going on to a clueless civilian. Thankfully, she had provided an alibi for herself. "Yes, there is an event going on! I think it's got to do with the puffy things. Maybe they wanted us to sit in on their meeting... whatever it is they're discussing. I wish they could tell us."
When the chibi senshi approached Megrez and mentioned a "party" and a "glowy friend," it took Megrez a moment to connect the dots. Right, the New Year's event. She hadn't remembered seeing this chibi senshi there, but if he had seen her, then he had seen her. "If it's the party I'm thinking of, yes, I was there. And my glowy friend's name is Penthesilea." She kept a pleasant countenance despite the gloomy subject, but thankfully the subject was changed. "They're called puffskis! They're not like youma, no, I don't think. They lived on my home planet long ago. They can teleport, which I think is how one came back to see me. And then it went back home to wherever they live now and brought all its friends."
When Etamin came to Megrez, he gave her an interesting question to answer. "Yes, I have! Homeworlds haven't been destroyed so much as ruined. They still exist, and you can go to them if you have your senshi phone. How you get there depends on your model of phone. There's an app if you have the touch-screen one and a button if you have the old one. And like I told him," she said, gesturing to the chibi, "I think these things can teleport somehow. That's how they must have gotten here."

Eurydike listened, deadpan, to Etamin's explanation. He resisted the urge to roll his eyes, and a snort of vague amusement escaped him. "What, you want a metal or somethin' guy?" He didn't bother to mention that he'd only been a senshi for about the same amount of time. Odds were the Egyptian senshi didn't hear him anyway, and it was probably better off that way.
His attention shifted back to the senshi he'd seen back at the gym, and he grimaced. "After that... things kind of went to s**t. I think they got the senshi we were tryin' to help, " and he bit down a little harder on the end of his cigarette, light ash tumbling down with the gesture. "Her signature went out and she felt like the rest of the creeps, from what I could tell." Basically, a failure, a ********. He'd been about as much help as a hunk of wood, really - obviously he hadn't given up, but -
More people were also arriving. Some of them not involved in the whole costumed capers bullshit. Well, that just made things real ******** awkward, didn't it?
"Wait." He held up a hand when he heard the one senshi, the chick who'd said the puffy things came from her world - because sure, why not - and made sure to press on in a whisper, "You're tellin' me this stupid a** phone can take me to space? - you're tellin' me I can ********' breathe in space now too? - you gotta be shitting me, right?" Even when he said that, though, his eyes got this excited little glint to them.
