Rider
Name: Ko'lin (formerly Kodilin)
Age: 43
Gender: Female
Sexual Orientation: Pansexual
Rank: Search Rider

Description: She's never been a very tall woman, only standing around 5'1". Almost everything about her can be considered petite. There is not much muscle to her, though she works hard and can carry her weight around. Her once long bronze hair is now worn short and pixie like in style. She's just never bothered to grow it out again, having grown used to the short length. Her skin is a little on the paler side. Her eyes are a soft golden-bronze and always appear to have a cheerful twinkle to them. Clothing wise, she tends to be simple, sticking mostly to her riding leathers or pants and cute blouse.
Personality:
Oh, hi there! Do you need any help? Yes? Okay! Ko'lin is your girl! You want her to deliver an errand for you? Sure, she'd be happy to! In fact, Ko'lin doesn't know how to not be happy. She's a very sweet person to her core. Very easy to get along with and talk to, which helps her excel at being a Searchrider! There is hardly ever a time you'll hear her raise her voice or get angered. Not that it can't or doesn't happen. It just takes an awful lot to get her to strike out. And once she has, she'll feel absolutely terrible about it. She was raised to be a well mannered and kind hearted individual. Who has a lot of passion in her that she tries to share with the world.

However Ko'lin does take her sweetness too far. Some may be annoyed by it, thinking she's just putting on a show. Others may take advantage of it. She has a very difficult time refusing someone, especially if they are in need of assistance. She likes to be helpful when she can. Or just give you some moral support. But she does have the habit of assuming someone needs the help, and therefore leads to her annoying others with this assumption too. Overall, she doesn't mean any harm or expect anything in return. It's just part of who she is.

She is also not afraid to voice her feelings, though she doesn't expect you to try and fix them. If she tells you about a tear in her shirt, she'll just ask if you know anyone who has needle and thread she can borrow. Really, she just has a desire to voice what she's feeling, so it doesn't stay bottled up. All that she truly expects out of you is just someone to listen or bounce solutions off of. Something she does with Komaith frequently.

History:
Pre-Wars
The day she was Searched was the most wonderful thing in the world. It had been something she had never expected in her life. A simple cook’s daughter, it was a sweet blue dragon and his rider that happened by their little restaurant. The Hold’s watch dragon frequented their place of business and recommended the bluerider stop by for a meal while making his way through the area on Search. And there was Kodilin, ready to serve, only to find herself face to face (almost literally) with a blue dragon trying his hardest to squeeze his head through the front door to see her. Ecstatic that their youngest would follow in the footsteps of his great-great-great grandfather, Kovin encouraged his daughter to travel with the rider and explore the world outside of their little restaurant.

Which was how she wound up chopping almost all her beautiful dark bronze hair off. Which had been the one thing about herself she had taken a little pride in. It had been the same luscious locks her grandmother had possessed.

Upon arriving at Malvren Weyr, being the shy and timid girl she tended to be when meeting new people, Kodilin found herself befriending her complete opposite in a girl that was the proud new bondmate of a tiny crimson hatchling. Kodilin found herself spending time with the new crimson pair, growing even more fond of dragons as she watched the little crimson struggle through the toughest part of her life. It was during her hatchlings growth that Arlii lost some of her own hair due to an over eager dragonet practicing flaming too early. Not wanting her friend to feel alone in having to cut her lovely hair, Kodilin chopped her own off as well.

Two turns and one clutch passed by with Kodilin going through lessons daily, hanging out with Arlii and Erinaeth when she could, and dreaming of a day where she might have a companion as wonderful as her friend. And then it happened. During her second time standing. Kodilin had thought she wasn’t going to find her special someone this clutch either. But two lone eggs stood out on the sands that the Weyrwoman had to help crack. And one overly enthusiastic silver dragon tumbled out backwards to squawk indignantly at them all and inform her, His Kodilin, that he was tired and hungry. And his rump hurt from falling on it. She found herself instantly in love with the beautiful creature, that said his name was Komaith, staring adoringly up at her.

Komaith and Ko’lin worked hard as he grew with assistance from Arlii and Erinaeth here and there. Her joy for being a rider never dulled, and it was this love – and Komaith! – that decided the duo on what they wanted to do when Komaith matured. They would be a Searchrider! So that they, too, could give someone that once in a lifetime chance to find the true other half of their heart.

Wherwars
Perhaps they were oblivious, or Komaith had protected her (along with Arlii), from any knowledge of what may be occuring. But Ko'lin was completely unprepared for when the uprising took place. She hadn't even known there was tension between dragonriders and wherhandlers! But then, she had a big heart and liked everyone equally. Unfortunately when the uprising occured and Malvren was taken over, Ko'lin remained there, unable to leave out of confusion and fear. Komaith was not very happy, but he respected his rider's wishes and did not try to force her to leave. Ko'lin argued that she didn't agree with what their actions, but this was their home! And people needed them there just as much as they would somewhere else.

However she began to grow fearful. The whers, creatures she had not held any disdain for before, terrified her. She saw first hand on a couple occassions what they were capable of. It made Komaith much more agitated and prone to snapping at everyone. But it wasn't until things began to escalate again that Arlii stepped in and told her to leave. Komaith seconded this. With the crimson pairs help, Ko'lin and Komaith were able to escape to Trine where they found themselves welcomed. It surprised them, for she had been fearful that their association with Malvern would make the other Weyr turn them away. They didn't. And the silver pair was even able to take up their Search duties once again. They kept in constant contact with Arlii and Erinaeth, always asking them to leave too. Ko'lin didn't completely understand why they wouldn't leave, but knew the crimsonrider was a stubborn woman.

While at Trine, peaceful as it seemed, Ko'lin and Komaith weren't always able to avoid fights when they broke out. She was not a skilled fighter, not wanting to hurt another. Komaith managed to get them out of harms way most of the time. Ko'lin's fear of whers never ceased, though. Even those that were supportive of Trine and dragonriders terrified her. She began to grow paranoid of the creatures, finding more excuses to stay out around the Holds as if on Search. Anything that kept her away from them. And slowly, as it seemed things were beginning to quite down, Ko'lin started to give them a second chance.

That's when the clutching gold at Trine was poisoned. And not long after, Sharath was gone. Ko'lin had never really seen a dragon die. Or had managed to block it from her own mind. It was the most heart wrenching thing she'd ever witnessed. And she hated, for the first time. Hated the whers. Hated that man, Keller. She trusted no one. Except Arlii. And she begged her friend to leave then. Desperation making her more brash with her letters. She was terrified of losing the only best friend she had. And finally, when things become too heated, Arlii and Erinaeth found their way to Trine.

Turns have passed since then, and an unprecident event has taken over Pern. Gold dragons are no longer born into their leadership. They have to earn it. Other dragons are now being given the opportunity to show what they are really capable of. And for the first time in several turns, Ko'lin is once again proud to take up her duties as a Search Rider, to encourage young ones that being a dragonrider is the most amazing thing in all of Pern still.

Dragon
Name: Komaith
Age: 28
Colour: Silver
Description: He is on the slightly larger spectrum of silver dragons. Not just large in size, but built like a tank as well. And it's not fat or overeating of any kind (he's not fat thankyouverymuch!). His chest is just thicker than the average silver or bronze, which probably is what makes him seem bulky. It's more square and solid, givnig him the appearance of wide shoulders and broad chest. But when he stretches out and stands tall, it's easier to see he's just thicker in the chest and narrows out into a nicely toned silver. His neck is also a little shorter then some dragons while his tail seems thinner. As for his coloring, he is a very nice stone silver that gives him a deceptively 'smooth' appearance.

Personality:
Have you ever wandered what it was like to try and budge a boulder? Well, just spend time with Komaith and you'll know exactly how it feels. Where some of his Silver kin may have more pride then he does, Komaith's got a strong, stubborn will that is not easily bent. It helps him to follow his instincts and not second guess himself or his rider. It also means he will not obey her blindly. Which comes in very handy with her inability to refuse things. Something that drives this dragon endlessly mad. Komaith is the voice of reason and, at times, physical barrier between Ko'lin and the world. She is too sweet, but he wouldn't change a thing about her.... Okay maybe just teach her how to say 'No, shaffit!' more often.

Komaith is also a patient creature, channeling his strong minded nature into withstanding many irritating things. It is one of his strongest traits, allowing him to really focus on potential new candidates. The instinctual feeling he gets will not be deterred and he will wait until his chosen child is able to believe what His says. Or himself if needed, though he prefers to only bespeak his Ko'lin.

There's also a strong desire to protect those that he views as being more vulnerable then himself or others. Like Ko'lin. She is a passionate women but she's gullible and a bit too naive at times. Komaith feels that if he does not watch out for those like her, no one will. Not even themselves. Because of this protective nature, Komaith has become a very encouraging individual. He will still be your guardian, but he will also encourage you to step up and gain more confidence in yourself. No one is truly weak. Just discouraged. And what better way to gain a little confidence boost then to know a Silver dragon has faith in you?

7 Turns Ago

The silver and his rider appeared elegantly out of between in the afternoon skies of their next Hold. They had not had any luck at the last one, which had dampened Ko’lin’s spirits a little. But there had been many nice people there! Something that gave her hope with a new clutch warming on the Sands. Gold Cepheith had Risen and produced a good sized number of eggs. And Ko’lin wanted to find as many candidates to provide those eggs. Especially with the recent death of a gold dragon being only a few turns past. And the raid on Benden being fresh in the mind of the Pernese people.

Thinking of such an atrocious act against a gold still gave her nightmares some nights. Today was not a day for such thoughts, though. No, she was determined they would find what they were looking for here.

Look at them, Ko! They are alive and energetic. Perhaps this will be our lucky Hold!

The silver beast she sat astride snorted as he came in for a gentle landing. With you smiling like that, I doubt they could resist you. He rumbled, green eyes taking in the Hold itself.

Ko’lin just laughed, patting Komaith’s neck as she undid her flying straps and waited for him to offer his foot so he could lower her to the ground. The silver was silly like that, in her opinion. Always watching out for her. The petite woman removed her helmet and gloves before undoing her jacket to tuck against the flying harness on Komaith. “Will you behave out here while I go speak to those that wish to meet you first?” Ko’lin asked, scratching under Komaith’s eye as he swiveled his head down to her. He blew warm breath at her before nudging her towards the small crowd of people gather.

Go and do what Ko’lin’s do best.

Smiling, she turned and greeted the crowd. “Hello! I am Searchrider Ko’lin of silver Komaith. We ride in Search! A healthy clutch has been laid on the Sands and we hope to find suitable candidates to accompany us back to Trine Weyr.” It was probably her innocent appearance that made people relax around her. Even if she felt a little fearful that one of the Holds would not welcome them. She was not sure who still supported Benden or Keller. It was dangerous, she was told, to be out here alone. But Ko’lin had argued (as much as she argued anyways) that arriving with a guard would only frighten people.

The looming presence of Komaith brought her thoughts back to her current duties. He lowered his head and blinked curiously among the children who were both in awe and afraid of the large dragon in front of them. But one boy was brave enough to reach out a shaky hand. “Go ahead, you can touch him.” Ko’lin encouraged with a bright smile. As soon as the small hand touched his nose, a soft hum-like sound rose up from the silver.

I like this one, my Ko’lin. He is good. Komaith paused, nosing a little closer to the crowd. And this one too. They smell similar.

“Is this your brother?” Ko’lin asked in a cheery tone, walking up to offer the boy in question her hand. “Komaith likes you two. He is wondering if you like him as well?” They both nodded eagerly. “Would you want to ride him? And see the Weyr?” She asked with an awed tone. “He’d like to take you there. Both of you.” Her gaze shifted up towards the woman that approached, fear and acceptance in her eyes. “It’s a chance not many get. And even more of an honor to be chosen by Komaith.” She winked at the boys, turning back to their mother. “I understand it’s scary for a mother to let her children go into what seems like the unknown. Especially in these times. But I assure you, it is all worth it, if they are chosen! And if not, I can personally ensure they arrive back here safely, if that is what they wish. I only ask for the chance to show them how much I love dragons. And hope they will too.”

Her words must have rang true, she mused, watching the boys scramble up Komaith’s back as he rumbled in amusement. They had merely a small bag with a few personal belongings. Nothing more. Their mother wished them farewell as the powerful wings of Komaith took to the skies. “Hold on tight, we’re going between! It won’t last any longer than you can cough thrice!"

To be 44, Ko'lin would have had to begin play ICly in the 3rd Turn of the shop's history (17 years ago) and Impressed at least 3 Turns prior to the start of the Shop. Is this right?

If it is, then approved!

Hi Skie! Just checking to make sure Ko'lin is good too! I did the same little time skew as with Arlii ^^

Also, is the post above alright for her maintaining searchrider rank?
(I think that was all I had to do... right? lol )
