Too soon, the skies shall part And cast your judgement upon the Earth.
xxxx Walking through the street with the woman who called herself Janus in their introduction, Musei kept pretty quiet for the most part, focusing on remembering exactly where everything was. It was a strange feeling, being a guide in an area he wasn't even exactly familiar with. The school was at least visible now, but the amount of people that were aligned through the streets seemed to nearly block his vision on the large building. Still, as they made their way down the final street, the school slowly came into full view.
"So, Janus, do you know anyone from around these parts?" he asked, somewhat curious as to the transfer. It's always a strange subject with someone who transfers; there's usually a reason that's touchy to cross, so by asking that question, Musei figured it would be a safer ground than to ask 'Why did you transfer?'. The last thing he wanted was to cause conflict between someone he just met and himself.
Who I'm with: Janus Where I am: Heading to the school. How am I feeling: Pleased over meeting someone new.
A nice hike was nice, unless you hated hikes. Damnit, being a rook is no good for locomotion. Janus' undeniable sessile nature made it clear she wasn't into cardio.
"Haa... Yeah, uh... I don't really know many people, but some family are living around here for a while for... Business purposes." It was convenient, but feigned shortness of breath always was a good cover for Janus' ineptitude for coming up with lies on the spot like Lilith or Lamia.
"So, you've already graduated?"

Too soon, the skies shall part And cast your judgement upon the Earth.
xxxx Back to him, questions shot back. It was only to be expected, Musei supposed, but at that point in time, those questions were the hardest to answer. "You could say that..." he only partially lied to her, scratching the back of his head with a sheepish expression on his face. "My situation's kinda complicated." he confessed, a small chuckle escaping his lips. He didn't need to lie to the woman, but he didn't need to tell her everything that was going on. "Basically, I'm kinda like you, whereas I just transferred to a new place, and everything I learned kinda just died out like a storm, so as a result, I need to take another year." he explained, his analogy pretty spot-on if he said so himself. Of course, she wouldn't understand that his schooling needed a complete re-vamp, and what he was now learning was to control his Sacred Gear, but to Musei it made perfect sense.
"Ah, there's the school just up ahead... You seem pretty winded though. You want to sit and catch your breath, or do you think you can make it there?" he asked, somewhat teasing her with his tone. It wasn't that far of a walk, at least for himself, but she seemed genuinely winded.
Who I'm with: Janus Where I am: Heading to the school. How am I feeling: Pleased over meeting someone new.
"That seems... Fun, somehow." Janus said with a smile. "Fresh starts are always fun. Well, to me the idea seems fun, anyway. A lot of people... Might find that tedious."
"Me??" She would obviously protest being out of shape, but there was a time when an act must be kept. "Uh, no, I think I can make it..." Really, she was kind of embarrassed. She wanted to talk though, so she did decide to take him up on his offer after all.
"... On second thought, maybe a breather doesn't sound so bad." Then she took a seat on the bench nearby and grabbed a sip from her bottled water.
"I heard a lot of rumors about this place. They say it's practically a school for devils only." She laughed. "Isn't that ridiculous!"

xxxx When the woman caved and sat down, Musei smiled warmly, pleased that she wasn't going to strain herself. There was a time and place for everything, and from the looks of it, she wasn't in a rush. He sat down beside her, hearing the next set of words from her mouth. "R-Really?" Musei questions, a slight catch in his throat at the thought. "It does seem ridiculous..." he replied, but realizing how much truth there could have been in that sentence. It made sense, that a school that was allowing angels to host a tournament on a festival day would somehow be involved with devils and angels, but why would they be so casual about it? Allowing normal people to walk around during the festival, unless... What if nobody was a human here?
He looked at the woman curiously, studying her visage. She didn't look like an angel, like he was, with or without wings. So it was either she was just a normal human, making casual conversation, or a devil. It would explain the feeling he had when she approached him, but still, that could have been anything. Deciding to not press into it without more evidence, he chuckled lightly. "I dunno, if this were a school for devils, I'd think that would be pretty cool." he admitted, trying to play it off. "What about you, then? If this is a school for devils, then that would make you one, wouldn't it?" he questioned, setting a trap with his words, laughing softly to pretend as if it was only a simple joke.
Who I'm with: Janus Where I am: Sitting on a bench outside of the school. How am I feeling: Inquisitive.
"You think that'd be cool?" Janus laughed. "I think you're lying. With that angelic aura of yours you'd be liable to get hunted down by some of the more zealous devils here." The facade was shattered. She looked at him with a more normal normal expression, a slightly more demonic one, but not one conferring danger.
"I guess it would be, wouldn't it?" She said answering his last question.

Too soon, the skies shall part And cast your judgement upon the Earth.
xxxx As the woman spoke, he froze, staring at her. The jig was up, she was well aware of him being an angel, and he was completely sure that she was a devil. Staring at her for a long while, as the streets seemed to freeze around him, he eventually sighed heavily, closing his eyes and chuckling gently. "I guess you knew from the beginning?" he asked, trying to play it off rather cool, but inside he was sweating bullets. This was the first time he had ever been face-to-face with a devil, and it scared him. He didn't know what they were capable of, and she was likely far more experienced than he was. He really didn't have much more to say, as he struggled to even figure out where to begin. She was a devil; a creature that angels did not get along with. Even though the devil's and the angel's were at a time of peace, according to Michael, the thought of what a devil was and what they did still radiated inside of his mind.
"So..." he finally began to speak, pulling himself from his thoughts. "Will you be in the tournament that is going on?" he asked, somewhat curious to know, but also trying to change the subject entirely.
Who I'm with: Janus Where I am: Sitting on a bench outside of the school. How am I feeling: Nervous.
"Whoa, man... Are you ok?" Said Janus raising an eyebrow. She reached over with a sincere look of caring and understand on her face and took the angel's hand. Nothing happened; there was no burning or hexes. "It's cool... We're not all bad, you know? Besides, even that whole bad guy thing gets old." She giggled slightly. "And yes, I did have my suspicions. You're aura is so... pure. Only angels have that going on."
Sure, times were tense, and Lilith and house Orino were trying to get an edge in Hell, but there was no real reason to just go out and pick fights... Especially not now.
"Yeah, I don't really want to, but Lilith, my King, wants me to represent Orino in the tournament. Says I'm the best shot we have at winning... Not that I'm bragging or anything!" said Janus waving her hands all around.

xxxx When she seemed concerned for him and touched his hand, he was slightly shocked and had the urge to recoil his hand immediately, but left it there. "Y-Yeah, just..." he paused, a light sigh escaping his lips as he listened to what she was saying about the tournament. So she was entering, and had a King that seemed to be quite confident in her abilities. Feeling how honest she was being with him, he decided to be somewhat honest with her.
"I've hardly been an angel for a week, so I've... Really had no idea what to expect from devils, or angels like myself. I'll be entering the Angel's tournament, as Michael seems to have high expectations of me, but I doubt I could do that well." he pointed out to the girl, smiling weakly. "I'll be going against people far more experienced than I am, and the whole thing has my nerves up on edge. Not really sure what I'll even begin with."
Who I'm with: Janus Where I am: Sitting on a bench outside of the school. How am I feeling: Awkward.
"Wait a second... You're having a tournament too?" It just occurred to her: how could he know about the devil tournament. "Maybe the committee has told us everything... I think I'm a little jealous now." She laughed.
"Anyway, I'm sure you'll do fine. What card are you?" She didn't like to see anyone self defeating like this... It's just sad.

xxxx Hearing the woman's surprise, he blinked, somewhat surprised himself over her reaction. "I... Figured everyone knew. Michael informed me of what was going on the moment I went to Heaven." he pointed out, shrugging his shoulders. When she asked what his card was, he bit his lip, trying to remember. "Um... The Ten of Clubs." he casually replied, realizing how much of an impact that might have had in their discussion. "T-The only reason why Michael gave me such a position was because of my potential in his eyes." he confessed, looking at her with a sheepish smile. "I just hope I can live up to his expectations."
Who I'm with: Janus Where I am: Sitting on a bench outside of the school. How am I feeling: More comfortable, relaxed.
A ten! Who the heck is this guy? This isn't right. Man, I'm glad we aren't at war right now.
'Wow, a ten... That's nothing to sneeze at. I'm just a rook, worth only 5 little pieces." Her eyes were wider now, the surprise obvious in her voice. "If that's any indication, I'm only half as strong as you." She smiled at the boy. He was practically an infant to her, but that power was sure impressive. "You know, Michael's a pretty smart guy. If the Commander of Heaven has faith in you I'm sure you'll be fine."

xxxx The reaction she had over him being a ten was something that caught him off-guard. Yeah, he may have been a ten, but with his current level of abilities, he figured he was barely worth a two. "Michael is a wise man, that I am sure of. If he feels I am worth a ten, I will prove that to him, regardless of how I feel about myself." he pointed out, smiling slowly. "I plan to prove that at the tournament. I doubt I will win compared to the other angel's that are there, but I will sure try to place highly, to show my prowess and Michael's faith."
Looking at the woman more, he understood slightly when she mentioned she was a rook. Michael explained the devil's ranking system to him at one point, which seemed simpler to understand compared to their own system. "Well, every piece is powerful from what I imagine, even the pawns." he replied, a small chuckle escaping his lips. "Still, a rook is nothing to snuff at; it's really impressive to me. You must be really talented."
