Ah the training fields. Joy was really enjoying her visits here. Sure she'd taken Shu's word to keep practicing against training dummies but there was just something not quite satisfying about fighting a stationary object.
So when she ended up arriving at the row of training dummies and found another hunter having their way with the dummies, Joy grinned. "Hiyo~" she called, "You looking for a spar with a little more life?"

One of the downsides to a sawblade weapon was how often it got wedged in a training dummy. Lucky had only just dislodged it from a dummy's shoulder when he was approached by a hunter he'd never met. He resisted the urge to immediately look them out on his SPECTRE - the new gadget was perhaps a little too much computing power in his hands. Or on his wrist.
So instead he looked up and tried to smile as non-awkwardly as he could manage. This was a girl, and he was still not very good at talking to them. "A-are you offering?"
In his head, Song practically snorted in amusement.

Joy spotted the elaborate designs on the other Hunter's coat, a higher ranked hunter! This was her lucky day! The trainee beamed and gave a warm smile, "Definitely! But I probs shoulda said a spar with a little more moon," she gestured to the moon logo on her coat before giving a little chuckle.
"Before we start I think I should do a little intro," she winked. "Name's Ligaya but you can call me Joy."AstaraeI I'll roll for attack after introductions because Joy's realized from all her past spars she's usually too beat up at the end to ask who she was fighting against @ 3@

"Szczeosny, but you can - uh - should call me Lucky." Lucky noticed her gaze and self-consciously adjusted his jacket, trying to shake out the creases in his death division coat. He still felt like a bug under a microscope. Using his weapon he gestured vaguely toward her own coat. "Moon division, huh?"
There weren't a lot of people he knew outside of life and death division - surprisingly easy to get caught up in a bubble.

Joy blinked, trying to process the name and eventually went with, "Lucky eh? Cute name," she grinned, deciding not to admit that she probably wouldn't have been able to pronounce his real name. With the introductions done, she stepped back and summoned her weapon, "Anyway, what say we get things started?"
The shovel was in her hands and once that was there, she took a swing at the death division hunter.

The saw came up and the flat of the shovel met to block. Joy attempted to counter and brought her weapon around in a swing.

Lucky parried with the flat side of his weapon before attempting to twist it through the blockade, but the defensive maneuvers were greatly weakening his ability to strike with any surprise or power. DMG: 1 HP: 42/50 Charge: 2/3

If Joy knew things like strategy and tactics, she would have thought something along the lines of Ah ha! An opportunity! I ought to try to pursue this line of fighting! Except that that train of thought was a little too intellectual for the moon trainee. Admittedly she just liked to get up close and personal (within reason of other people's sense of personal boundaries) during spars plus her weapon's range didn't exactly allow for more distance.
"C'mon, don't hold back, Lucky~" she grinned, "I got lots of scars. A few more and I'll have the whole set!" the shovel swooped low in an attempt to cut him at the knees. Of course the stance also left her wide open.

Lucky nervously adjusted his glasses. "That's - that's not really the point of -" Any further postulating on the purpose of sparring was interrupted by her low-blow to the knees. He stumbled, but brought the saw down on her from above in the process. DMG: 4 HP: 37/50 Charge: 3/3

"Point shmoint," Joy laughed cheerfully, she certainly sounded like she was having fun. "I like points well enough, they have their uses. But I waaaaay prefer edges over them." Even as they sliced down. Maybe especially when they sliced down. That particular train of thought remained unspoken.
The metal met meat, or FEAR shield at least, but the pain transmitted through. The pointed handle of the shovel was thrust forward in response.
