Chel was in her room played smash bros. It had been a long day of reading mission reports and then reading more mission reports, so she wanted to do something mindless that involved no words.

Gretchen had sent Chel a text, letting the other girl know she was heading up there, with company, to see if she could borrow her friend's kitchen for a bit. There was a plastic bag in one hand. Inside was a package of Oeros, a block of cream cheese, and a little bag of melting chocolate. "She's not going to mind," she was telling Lukas as they made it to the top of the stairs. "I don't think, anyways. Especially not if we share the truffles with her." It had been a bet. A silly little bet, and Gretchen had lost. So she now owed Lukas a dessert, and instead of going to the island kitchen, she was instead taking him to use her friend's kitchen. Gretchen knocked on the door, before chuckling. "Unless Jacks here. If Jacks here they're probably busy."

"I don't know who Jack is, or why you think I might." The promise of food was the only thing that had him trailing her -- his own hands empty, shoved thoughtlessly into the pockets of his jeans. Out in the real world, he might have brought something -- something in the form of beer, or a bottle of wine, or with this crew, maybe something harsher and cheaper. Here, though, he had no resources. There was no store he could simply pop out to. The minimal luxuries he had were few enough to drive him batty, so he clenched his teeth as he shook his head down at her. "I barely know the girl at all; mostly just that she looks like she's been mauled by a bear."

Chel had promptly ignored the text by choice. She'd seen it, and acknowledged it, but dyslexia was annoying and she didn't feel like exerting the effort to read it. If it was Jack, Abbi, Finn or any number of people they would just burst into her room anyways. If it was an emergency, they'd make it known. Neither of which was the case, thus Chel ignored it.
The knock on the door had her rolling her eyes. She hit the pause button and stood up from her couch, stretching all the while.
She eventually got to the door and greeted both Lukas and Gretchen in an oversized shirt (very distinctly not hers), underwear and absolutely nothing else.
"Sup?" she asked Gretchen, eyeing the bag suspciously. "That for me?"

"Figured you weren't a hermit," she teased, grinning at him. If he was on twitter at all the name Jack should have rung a bell or two. Apparently he was not. Features twitched at the mauled by a bear comment, but Gretchen wouldn't have time to comment before the door opened and the girl in question was looking out at them. "Hey Chel." She glanced down at the bag, then up again. "Well, not all of them, but some, yes. If you let me use your kitchen, that is."

"Don't ask me what's in the bag, because I genuinely don't know. A delicacy, supposedly." But his tone was skeptical as his eyes flashed onto Chel, lingering in a thoughtful way. Not a bear, probably, hissed in the back of his mind, and he wasn't sure if it was his own thought or the voice of the scaly creature that rattled around in his head. Only a pause, and then he offered his hand. "Lukas. I'm here because she promised non-cafeteria-food."

Chel was used to the one-second-too-long-stare. At this point, she just let him do it. Easier that way.
When he offered his hand, she slapped it a high five.
"Cool cool. I'm Chel." She made her stand smaller to allow the others through the door and into her room. She traced slowly to her kitchen, talking to them all the while. "Make yerself at home. S'a mess but it's mine." It was, too. Piles of clothing, games, dishes littered the room with a strange sort of organization to them. There were quite a few books, the odd pile of makeup. It was hard to tell what was Chel's and what belonged to Chel's assortment of friends.
She gestured to the kitchen where dishes stacked up. They didn't breach the line of unhygienic (mostly thanks to Jack and Chris, not really Chel), but it wasn't what one would call a tidy kitchen by any means.
"Y'know this means you owe me now," she leered at Gretchen. "S'a bad thing to owe 'nother hunter."

Gretchen gave a soft snort at delicacy, but she kept her smile, waiting for her two friends to exchange greetings before slipping past Chel and into the dorm. If the somewhat messy state she found it in bothered her at all, the trainee didn't show it. She headed straight for the counter in the kitchen and set her bag down, picking up a few odds and ends to clear a little space. As Chel addressed her again Gretchen turned, leering back and offering a wink. "Don't worry, I'll save a little sugar for you." She had planned on saving some of the truffles for Chel as a thank you for the use of her kitchen, as well as a thank you in general for having Gretchen's back and being her friend. After pulling out the cookies and the cream cheese, she paused to look around before just pausing to look Chel's way. "I don't suppose you have a food processor?" It could be done without, but it'd take longer.

"How do you even get a food processor, here?" Thus far, Lukas hadn't even managed to get his hands on an electric beard trimmer, as much as he would have liked. Not that it would do a whole lot of good against the near-constant stubble along the line of his jaw, darkening Lukas's throat. He scratched at it, perhaps self-consciously or maybe just uncomfortably, as he trailed Gretchen. "I think I'd be nervous about it exploding. Or developing a personality..."

"I don't even know what that is," Chel admitted.
At Lukas' comment, Chel rolled her eyes. Newbies. "Runes just make it so the shields don't ******** it up. They don't do nothin' else." She gave Gretchen a look like this guy?
She leaned over the counter at the twosome and said, "So what you makin'?"

"Well, it doesn't really matter." Though maybe Gretch would have to get one. Not that she had a kitchen, but if Chel continued to let her have free reign over her own, it'd definitely come in handy later. A blink passed between Lukas and Chel, followed by a smile. "Hearin' some of the rumors 'round here, can't blame him for not knowin' otherwise." She went on the hunt for ziplock bags, and something heavy to beat the cookies into bitty little chunks. "I wouldn'ta know if I hadn't asked Dwight about it when I got my iPod and speaker done." Not in that drawer. Not in the next... "Oh!" She paused in her hunt to flash a grin over her shoulder at the other girl. "Chocolate oreo truffles." Back to searching.

Maybe Chel's intent had been friendly enough, but Lukas's reaction to it was -- well. Silence. Instead of reacting, or responding, he turned a flat look on her for a long moment and then focused on Gretchen instead: arms folded across his chest as he leaned back against the counter. If she offered to help, he'd help, but for the moment, his posture made it very clear that he viewed himself in hostile territory.

If Lukas was bothered, Chel didn't notice. She continued the chatter with Gretchen, just thinking him a quiet person.
"What're you lookin for?" she asked raising an eyebrow at the hunt. Chel's kitchen was disorganized as hell, but at least she knew where things were. She did give a thumbs up to the chocolate oreo truffles. She didn't know what that meant, but it sounded amazing.
She laced her fingers under her chin and looked at the quiet one. "So what's your deal? You like pina coladas and long walks on the beach?" Chel's way of saying tell me about yourself. They might as well get to know one another.

"Meat tenderizer?" It was a stretch that Chel would have that. "Or just somethin' hard I can use to bust up the cookies." A curled fist smacked into her opposite palm. "And some ziplock baggies, big ones if you got'em." A curious glance was turned In Lukas' direction, dark brows arching in silent question, though Chel had turned her attention his way as well. So Gretch set about opening the package of cookies, and helped herself to one.

"I like food." It was still brief, somewhat dismissive -- and now, finally, Lukas stepped in to help Gretchen out, even if he wouldn't exactly call this food. He had dreams about steaks, these days, vague and distracted. Could barely remember what meat, aside from the ground s**t in the cafeteria, tasted like. "Just get two bowls, one slightly smaller than the other. You can mash them between the two."
