Another day, another edge he needed to curb. For all his work in the infirmary, Leslie didn't feel right unless he was working his aggression out, well. Aggressively. He nodded his head at someone from across the training field, jogging to get closer. Jesus ********, the man was a giant. "You wanna fight something more interesting than some shitty dummies?"

He vaguely recognized the shorter man from the Mist meeting, though Arorangi couldn't recall his name. A bright smile was offered, however, and Arorangi turned away from the training dummy that he was currently jabbing at to address the much shorter man.
"I would like that very much, thank you!" he said cheerfully. "If you would not mind being my sparring partner!"

Aleria appeared in-hand, wisps of cold curling around his wrist. Leslie grinned, dropping down into an attack stance. "Wouldn't mind at all."

The other spear was met with a certain amount of excitement from Arorangi; it was always fun to get to fight against someone with a similar weapon, even if Arorangi was relatively certain that this (much smaller) young man was a higher level than he was.
"Brilliant," said Arorangi brightly, and spun his own spear in hand, thrusting it in the other's direction.
"My name is Arorangi, by the way!"

The spear slid against his shield, and Leslie countered with a similar blow. Both of them would have a little bit of range; closer range than projectiles, farther away than daggers. It would be an interesting dynamic. "Leslie." He circled around the larger hunter, looking for a weak spot. "Mist. You?" hp 46 dmg 4 charge 1/3

He flipped the spear from one hand to the other as Leslie moved, the tip of the other's weapon scraping against his shield. Arorangi beamed brightly at his opponent and curled his fingers a little to tighten his grasp, Ori's voice excited in his head.
"Mist as well!" he said cheerfully. "I am only a trainee at the moment, but I am working towards being promoted! I think I have been here too long, it is rather sad that I am not yet where I want to be!"
He spun abruptly and smacked the spear length-wise towards Leslie's legs.

Leslie startled, the blow sending him a** over teakettle in his failed attempt to evade it. He at least managed to hold onto Aleria on his way down, and rolled back over, swiping at Arorangi's legs. "Huh. Never seen you around, but I also missed the meeting before this latest one. I somehow ended up with the Suns." He stood, attempting to rub dirt from his face, and only managing to succeed in spreading it across his cheek. "You got a favorite division to stand in on?" hp 41 dmg 3 charge 2/3

Arorangi seemed relatively pleased that his attempt at knocking Leslie over had worked. Granted, he felt marginally bad about it - it felt kind of like kicking a puppy, in a sense - but at the same time, this was Deus, and they were sparring. It was important to know how to fight, after all.
"I have only been her a few months," said Arorangi brightly as he skittered back a few steps, Leslie's blow stinging across his knees. "And no, I do not think I have a favorite division, at least not yet."
He swung the spear, aiming for Leslie's torso, but missing.
"...but I think I would like to sit in on either Moon or Sun myself!"

He wouldn't be the first hunter to think of Leslie as a puppy, nor would he be the last. Grumpy and short generally meant most people didn't take him seriously. As much as it annoyed Leslie, it just made it easier to catch them off guard. "Moon and Life, here," Leslie grunted, charging to close the gap between them, Aleria raised high. "Sun's got enough warm bodies, usually, that they don't need me to be an extra." hp 41 dmg 5 charge 3/3

"I will most likely go towards Moon, then," said Arorangi with a smile, wincing a little as Leslie's staff cracked across his chest. He stumbled back a few steps and readjusted his hold on his own weapon, flipping the spear back to his dominant hand.
"What would you be interested in learning about in Life, if you do not mind me asking?" he asked, giving a quick and sharp jab to Leslie's torso.

Jesus. For a newbie, this guy could hit pretty ******** hard. All Leslie got to give back in return was a weak parry; no more, no less. "Too bad," he grunted, "because you pack a mean ******** punch." He straightened up, shaking out his arms. "I do infirmary shifts most days of the week. It's the on-base healing and s**t. Moon is all about the immediate need on the field, and while I can do it, I don't know if it's for me. I'd rather do more good once the soldiers are back home, or whatever. I dunno." hp 34 dmg 1 charge 3/3

"Thank you!" said Arorangi cheerfully. He was feeling very pleased with himself at how well he was holding his own against someone of a higher rank, and flipped the spear back and forth again. "I have been training very hard these past few days!"
He thrust again, a quick jab with the spear towards Leslie's leg.
"Oh, that is very useful!" said Arorangi, eyes wide. "I am very impressed, I have not yet done any rotations in the infirmary, but I would like to start! I feel like I might be able to be helpful if I can learn some healing, and I would not mind being on the field!"

Leslie burned Aleria's charge, a splash of cold washing over him, honing his senses, whorls of frost spiralling up his arm, melting almost immediately. "Well," he said, "it's not too hard. Just go in and start asking for shifts, that's what I did. Sunny rules with an iron ******** fist, but as long as you don't d**k around, things are fine. It's a lot of grunt work at first, but I don't think it's so ******** bad." hp 34 dmg 0 [ -4 instead of -6, 2 turns ] charge 0/3, ey2 used, chl3 remains

Arorangi watched the frost with interest, eyes widening a little.
"Is Sunny the person in charge of the infirmary?" he asked, flipping the spear back to his left hand and spinning it around. "And I have not really ever dicked around when I am at work, so I think I will be okay on that front! And I do not mind grunt work," Arorangi added with a laugh.
He whipped the spear out, smacking it against Leslie's side.

"Yep," Leslie said, grunting from the incoming blow that made his head ring. "Basically, anyway. I think Dr. Stephen is the main doctor and Dr. H is, obviously, king a*****e on top...but she effectively runs the roost and s**t." Leslie yanked his club upwards abruptly, aiming for the guy's kidneys. "Sounds like you'd be, fine and s**t, then.
