Quote: AatuaiThe wind whipped and tugged at the fast, light hoofed soquili as they raced one another through the plains. It made Aatuai's breathing come rapidly..his leg muscles burned in an awesome way as he flung himself forward towards the 'finish line'. Said line was a huge gnarled old tree that somehow lived there in the grassy plains. Like a big beacon to draw travelers in; inviting them to rest in it's sparse shade. Calling out against the wind the stallion zig zagged to avoid his racing companion. "You'll...never..get me!" Aatuai could taste victory as the tree grew larger and more visible with each passing thump of his feet against the grassy earth. However his tiny racing partner had other plans and with a quick jump he felt a sharp n** which had the male stumbling and tumbling into a heap..the tiny mare vanishing. Clover laughed merrily when the brown stallion finally made it to the tree "You cheated Clover! Best two out of three!!" Snorting once the goat like mare shook her head and wearily flopped against the tree. "I'm a goat! Goats bite. It was fair and you know it! No more..tired." Panting for air the two settled down by the tree..his small tail flicking as the previous tension and adrenaline seeped from his bones. "That was a good race..even if you did cheat!" Quote: ConvallariaVal sunk down further in the grass at the sound of hooves pounding even closer. She thought they had been close before, but now they were approaching the tree where she'd set up her nest the night before. She'd slunk away into the long grass to stay at least a little bit safe. Now, though, her only option was to stay down or leave - and she wasn't about to do that. This was the only spot she'd found that she liked so far, and as far as Convallaria was concerned, that made it hers now. The journey down from the mountains had been a long one, and she needed a place to recuperate. Her long, silvery-blue horn peeking out of the grass, Val made her way forward. At first, she saw nothing, but soon, something brown shifted up ahead, and she heard laughter. Her ears flicked forward at that - a positive sound. Still, whoever was up there was enjoying her tree and her shade. Brows furrowing, she crept further forward - and spotted cloven hooves on the ground in front of her. Eyes shooting upward, Convallaria spotted not one, but two sets of thick ears and the tails of her people. There wasn't an antler between them, though. Her eyes widened. "Lady Cerynei," she murmured, and stood upright. "Hello," she said, trying to catch the eyes of first the tall one and then the short one in turn. Quote: AatuaiEars flickering upright sharply the stallion turned slowly to see a beautiful mare stepping through the tall grass, he was about to smile...until the mare called him a lady! Shaking his short mane he tried to not grow flustered as Clover laughed out loud. "I..uh apologize..but, I'm not a lady. Though I do lack horns that are common to the cerynei..I'm very much a stallion milady." Bowing in greeting respectfully Aatuai moved a few steps back, giving her space so she wouldn't feel nervous. "It is an honor to meet you, I am Aatuai. I'm a bit of a newcomer here..I once called the mountains home." Quote: CloverClover jumped when someone else appeared but, her fears turned to all out laughter at what the big mare said. "I'm a lady!" She chirped with another giggle at the stallion's embarassment; wiggling her own tiny tail the tiny goat-mare skipped forward. With no sense for 'personal space' she sniffed at the newcomer..humming softly and affectionately butting her head against the mare's leg. "Clover! I'm a goat..but, my mama taught me to talk like you do. Aren't I clever?" Impishly wiggling she pranced off through the tall grass, calling over her shoulder as she disappeared. "Gotta go home! Bye bye Aatuai! Let's race again tomorrow!" Quote: ConvallariaSapphire eyes blinking as the ladies in front of her introduced themselves one by one as first a male, and then as a goat, Val felt a blush rise to her pale blue cheeks. Her head jerked back in surprise when the goat-dwarf-cerynei nudged her with her warm head, but just as it happened, the little thing disappeared into the grass. Her eyes turned back to the stallion. "From the mountains?" she asked, brows furrowing. Convallaria was from the mountains, from the tundra beyond - and despite the fact that she was a prized mare, even she had a horn of some kind. "I've never seen an unshamed male without horns from the North," she said. Her eyes narrowed and she ignored all his pleasantries. "Are you outcast?" Her own society had collapsed, but she wasn't about to admit that while she was interrogating such a sorry male. Quote: AatuaiSnorting out a soft laugh the male turned to bid his little friend a warm farewell "See you next time Clover! Be careful getting home.." With that taken care of Aatuai turned his attention to the mare's piercing sapphire eyes..tail giving a few delicate swishes before he again spoke up. "An outcast? Oh no..I chose to leave..I longed to explore the different lands below. After my mother passed away there was not much keeping me up within the mountains.." Trailing off he stepped through the grass, enjoying the suns warmth. It was not in his nature to feel miffed at what the mare had said..she seemed to be a noble sort. "I feel no shame at not having horns milady. I can still protect those that I hold dear..I'm also quite swift."
