Horace had finished his run in the town and retired back to the training field to, well, train. It was what it was there for, after all. But he was bored. There was absolutely no one he felt like sparring on the field and hitting poor Higgs-Boson over and over seemed cruel. Sparring dummies wasn't exactly fun, either. Just then, he saw a (not-entirely) familiar head of hair. Well, Lucky owed him a spar and was walking through the training field and according to at least Rep (********, who used him as a morality measure?), that meant Lucky was free game. A heavy, spiked hand would land on Lucky's shoulder. "Hey Lucky, wanna gamble?" It was not the most clever of word plays.

Lucky immediately dropped his copy of Covert Circular Symbols, An Unabridged History and looked more or less paralyzed. Fighting was something he almost always avoided. Even training. Just because he had a magical weapon didn't mean it was something he could always rely on. In most dire situations, he'd been on his own. Or so he kept telling himself, to make himself feel better about his incredibly poor fighting skills. "Do I have a choice?" he asked, trying to sound more humorous than he felt. He slowly glanced over his shoulder, and upward, body language still tense and uncomfortable. Oh, it was the guy he had almost strangled to death in a fit of destruction. Could he run? Maybe escape was still on the table.

Horace snorted . "Nope, you owe me, angry backpack." To be fair, Jan had gotten Lucky off of his back and Horace hadn't been seriously injured. Not like Lucky, whom he was sure had at least one broken bone. He seemed alright now, though, so Horace felt very little guilt. Still, keeping hold of Lucky, Horace grabbed the book from the ground (it was was an awkward maneuver, but doable) and stuffed it in his pocket. Not for keeping, but because not book belonged in the dirt.
With a cheerful whistle, he hooked his other hand into Lucky's collar. Twisting roughly, he began to try and drag Lucky a little closer to the center of the field.

"Owe you what?" he complained, right before Horace grabbed the collar of his jacket. "Hey, wait --" At being dragged around by anywhere near the neck, Lucky was already flailing in an instinctive attempt to escape danger. He had not yet summoned his weapon but the chaotic clawing and kicking was definitely going to be annoying. HP: 44/50 DMG: 7

((Ignore roll. Horace is not going to hit Lucky again if he doesn't summon.)) "Oh, c'mon, don't be so uptight." Horace groaned but kept his hand around Lucky's collar. "A spar, obviously. You hit me, I hit you, if I win you tell me about your little helicopter ride."HP: 43/50 DMG: CHG: 1/3

Lucky's reaction to the words 'helicopter ride' was the same as if Horace had just been reading out loud from a private journal - a mixture of embarrassment and horror that was easy to read from the look on his face. He still hadn't fully grasped how big of an audience he'd had for that incident, partially because of how much pain he was in afterward. The fact that Horace knew about it and wanted the details meant he'd get them, one way or another. Well. Better to be the one to tell him than someone who might describe things a little more... unfavorably. Hopefully Horace wasn't too sore about the whole 'almost got strangled to death' thing. "Hn. Fine, one spar." Lucky's eyes briefly paused on the gauntleted hand still keeping him from taking off. He did not like his odds here. His weapon appeared, seemingly from thin air - a twisted sawblade with jagged teeth. He gripped the horn handle tightly and the runes seemed to flare even brighter for a moment. At least one of Horace's opponents was eager to fight. He waited almost patiently for Horace to be appeased enough to let go of his jacket. "And if I win... you tell me why you want to know." "Awesome!" He grinned disarmingly. "I didn't think you'd agree." Not that Horace would have stopped bugging Lucky if the other hunter hadn't agreed. Continuing a refused spar was of course, unconscionable, but there were other ways to be utterly tenacious. And it wouldn't be the first time Horace had the opportunity to be described as 'a dog after a bone'. When Lucky summoned, Horace let go and let him a few moments to gather himself. Then he crowded close quickly, bringing his fists up under Lucky's weapon to jab him in the stomach, spikes stabbing into the softer flesh there. He was a little excited to see how Luck wielded his weapon. HP: 43/50 DMG: 8 CHG: 2/3

Lucky's hesitance to fight was not doing him any favors here. Also, just because he had a shield again didn't make getting punched in the gut any less painful. He stumbled backward and swung blindly, rather far from where Horace actually was. HP: 36/50 DMG: n/a CHG: 0/3 GC y3 chill y2

Horace blinked. "Dude, you can do better than that." He swipped half-heartedly in the general direction of Lucky but, really, it wasn't a spar if Lucky didn't hit. "Come at me!" HP: 43/50 DMG: 0 CHG: 2/3

To make a long story short, he did. And to make a short story long -- overestimating the distance between himself and his opponent, he managed to sink the sawblade through Horace's midsection halfway to the hilt. There was something still deeply uncomfortable about seeing anyone with a weapon lodged in them (even if fear shields supposedly kept them from being truly eviscerating), so he quickly tried to remove it. It was unclear what part of the process ended up doing more damage, but Horace was privy to more than a few repeated, frantic apologies in the process. HP: 36/50 DMG: 12 CHG: 1/3 GC y3 chill y2

"That's more like it!" He gritted his teeth against then force of it, then grinned. A pause. "Wait, why are you apologizing?" Horace reached out to grab Lucky's wrist, twisting it as he did so. "Spars are supposed to hurt-" Yank. "That's how you learn." Obviously more than okay with any pain Lucky inflicted on him, Horace yanked forward again. Letting go, he let some of Lucky's own momentum guide his fist into Lucky's side. The spar was only beggining to get fun. HP: 32/50 DMG: 6 CHG: 3/3
