In a small but not forgotten corner of Deus, Horace rapped his knuckles smartly on a door that may have led to a broom closet - an assumption that could be made simply because of the size, or the lack thereof. But, judging from the nameplate on the door, it was more likely to be the office of one Gale Gentry.

Gale's minute office was mostly forgotten by people who had been to it, and almost entirely overlooked by people who passed by, and completely unknown to even exist to most. Still, he felt proud of his place, even if it was roughly the size of a Hobbit hole, the room just large enough to fit a desk and two chairs, one of which was a comfortable, swivel one that Gale currently occupied.
The knock on the door was mildly surprising; Gale was not used to guests, and he dragged himself away from the piles of files on his desk, standing to pull open the door.
"Yes?"

"Hello, Gale. Have you got a minute?" Horace seriously debated trying to edge his way in even if Gale did not have time.

He frowned slightly, but shifted aside to accommodate the new arrival.
"Yes," said Gale slowly. "May I ask who you are?"

Oh. He blinked. Introducing himself had never crossed his mind. He was so used to reading up on other hunters that he simply forgot that other people didn't. Sheepishly, he rubbed his bad hand through his hair, extending the good one to shake. "Sorry. Horace Nokoni, in your division." His smile was a little sheepish, too, as he looked down at Gale and then moved past him into the office. Horace sat in a chair, not the fun swivel one, to his eternal sadness, and fished a notebook out of his pocket. "Figure you'd appreciate me getting to the actual point.." He chewed on the end of his pen for a second before looking up at the other man and shrugging. "Heard this last thing, the green eyes infection, had to do with O and, uh, a little birdie said you'd know more and might be willing to tell." It was a statement, but his voice lilted up hopefully at the end as though it were a question.

"Ah," said Gale, and gave a small nod, taking back his seat in his own chair and keeping the door open, otherwise it would have been too stifling in the tiny office. "Well, I assume you already know who I am, then, otherwise you wouldn't have knocked on my door unless you were lost. But either way, I'm Gale, and it's nice to meet you, Horace."
He leaned back and crossed one leg over the other, a curious expression on his face as he contemplated the man in front of him.
"You want to...know about the Ouroboros organization?" Gale asked, brows arching, and hoping to the high heavens that it hadn't been Lucky or Quinn that had been the "little birdie."

"Mhmm, try to make it a point of finding out at least who the higher ranked hunters are on the island. Nice to meet ya, too." He grinned at the idea of someone being lost and knocking on a closet door. Horace nodded at Gale's question. "There's not a lot of readily available information in the books and records that I have access to, and admittedly, I'll always be better with written word. But word of mouth seems the best way to find things out." He looked expectantly at Gale. Puppy dog eyes very (very briefly) considered and discarded as likely more creepy than useful in this instance.

Gale gave a slow nod, idly swinging from side to side in his chair. "That's because most of the information about Ouroboros seems to be limited to those that have actually interacted with them," he said finally. "And because Deus doesn't really like admitting that they exist, yet here we are."
He rested an elbow on the desk, propping the side of his head up against his hand, the puppy dog eyes not quite missed.
"Is there anything specific you'd like to know about them?" Gale asked.

He wrinkled his nose. "That seems highly inefficient. Why didn't more people record things? He paused, considering Gale's question. "To be honest, I want to know everything. But I- hmm, how exactly are Ouroboros related to the most recent outbreak of green eyes? And previous outbreaks?" His pen was ready, just itching to take notes in shorthand.

"Welcome to Death Division," said Gale dryly. "Nothing here is ever as efficient as they make it out to be."
His fingers brushed idly over the patch on his eye as he mulled over Horace's request. "The Ouroboros are, in essence, a splinter group of Hunters," said Gale after a moment's thought. "They have a different perspective on the way things are meant to be run. As for their involvement with the green eyes, well..."
He wondered if it was possible to spin this without adding his own involvement, unless Horace already knew of it. "They have an artifact that causes the virus, or at least, I believe it does. A very dangerous artifact in the wrong hands, and even in the right hands. It causes a degradation of the mind, a blatant hunger and thirst for knowledge that cannot be sated."

Horace resisted the urge to roll his eyes. ******** organization, how does it work? Apparently, not exactly well in this division. He noted the eyepatch curiously - a fidget or a recalled memory... "A different perspective? How different?" There had been talk on twitter about them, of course, and a vague detailing of their aims, hardly comprehensive. An artifact that caused a thirst for knowledge. He pursed his lips for a moment. In that dream that was not quite a dream, there had been something that cause a thirst not for knowledge, but a sort of all-consuming greed for the things each person had wanted most. He had abandoned friends to hold it, hoard it, and in the end, it had disappeared, vanished from his hands. It had never really been there. "What kind of artifact is it?" A pause. "I'm assuming the virus is 'green eyes'. How did they get the artifact and do we know what they plan on doing with it?" His pen tapped against the paper. Where there was one artifact, there were more, and not all of them were beneficial.

"It's a bit hard to explain," said Gale slowly. "The Ouroboros don't have divisions like we do. I wound up on one of their organizations once and everything was weirdly cult-ish, like they were trying to drag us in to their beliefs of things being a certain way."
His fingers moved idly to brush over his temple. "A...grail, I think, is what they called it," said Gale, frowning slightly. "Yes, the ones with the green eyes. I haven't yet discovered how they acquired it in the first place. As for what they plan on doing with it, well..."
He gave a small sigh. "Conflicting information. There's a hint of trying to deactivate it safely, but there's also word that they're trying to get it onto Deus to infect us all."

"Things a certain way?" He prompted. Did Ouroboros believe fear creatures were not to be ...corralled, more or less, or that horsemen were a gift to humanity or... He frowned, utterly distracted by Gale's next comment. He hummed thoughtfully. "Then they were behind the outbreak in the mall - the mission that Rep spearheaded?" Jordan had attacked him then; he had watched hunter fight hunter while a desperate few tried to save civilians. "If they are attempting to infect us, was the recent incident a test-run or some sort of mistake?" He wondered how deep Gale had gotten into their ranks. "Gale," he began, remembering the feel of it in his hands. "Were you a part of the mass dreamstate recently, the one with knights?" His pen tapped idly against the paper. "In it, we were history: reliving old knights' decisions. There was a grail, one that caused a kind of greedy madness... People fought over it; I had taken it from Lucky in the end, only to have it vanish from my hands. Perhaps it was the same sort of thing, even the same grail, although I feel like, if so, it must have gotten stronger as years pass." He wondered if that was a weakened version or a real one at all.

"I...have no idea, honestly," said Gale, brows rising. "I wasn't present on Rep's mission, I was out on a surveillance trip somewhere else during the time it took place; something completely unrelated to Ouroboros. As for whether or not the recent event was a trial run or a mistake, well..."
He trailed off, trying to figure it out, his mind flickering back to the Opus Labs incident, though he disliked visiting it. "There was a trial run before this recent...outbreak," said Gale slowly. "I would assume that this one was less intentional, all things considered, but I can't be positive."
The idea that there had been a mass dream state recently didn't surprise Gale. "No," he answered Horace truthfully. "I wasn't a part of that, though I've heard mention of it over the past few days. I suspect, however, that the grail in there is either the same grail as this one, or something related."

"A trial run? Were you present for that?" He raised one brow and made another note in his notebook. The idea that the grail was the same was certainly interesting, although he didn't know if that information was actually useful beyond a coincidental level. He tapped his pen thoughtfully. "How much do we know of Ouroboros' internal structure, then? Do they have a figurehead?"
