The day was clear and bright and filled with the cheerful twittering of birds. Of course, all of this was more or less lost on the black mare with wings of twilight. Her flight wavered clumsily, dipping and then climbing, the beats of her wings sluggish and heaving. The forest stretched dark beneath her, trees thinning from time to time to reveal a winding path or meadows.
The larger ones were too busy for her liking, even with none present in their midst. She needed something smaller, something where she could bathe her wound and take stock of her injuries in peace. Muttering a litany of unpleasant things under her breath, the kalona cross mare known as Keshani Avenara spiraled out of sky when she found a suitable landing site. The meadow was small and sufficiently ringed in trees, not too far off a fairly well-traveled path. Most importantly? Not a single damned Skinwalker in sight.
Which was currently her only real criteria, truth be told... Thought the source of freshwater was looking like an endearing enough bonus.
Softly glowing feathered wings giving a last, feeble beat, Keshani landed with sufficiently less grace than she tended to display. Hindleg torn as it was, it collapsed beneath her upon the impact. With the loss of strength in that leg she was left her to scramble, attempting to keep her hooves as the remaining three legs attempted to buckle under the weight. She was tired, tired beyond measure... And her leg ached something fierce.
"To the fires with all of you, cursed and born alike." She muttered, ears flat to her head as she gnashed her teeth and bared her fangs. "When I get my feet under me again, I swear you'll get yours."
Her legs gave out at last, leaving her to slump into the grass with a low groan.
