Bitter wasn't even a good word to describe the state of being he was in right now.

Everyone was either leaving him or against him and he didn't know how to handle it. He had decided to leave his family herd ages ago. To be out on his own and experience things that he would never experience as long as he was living there. It was sheltered and that was the kind of life he didn't fit in with. So he left, and felt like he could start a new life with Iona. That wasn't the case as they both mutually separated with the agreement that they would remain friends. Of course this would happen to him. He could never be happy for more then five minutes. His life was constant stress. If it wasn't training within the herd it was protecting someone or something. It was engrained into his body. It was something that he couldn't escape.

His father he still didn't get along with. He didn't know if they would ever be on good terms again and it was all over a stupid reason. It was nothing major. Nothing that couldn't be solved with a simple discussion, but sadly wasn't going to happen. Both were too stubborn for that kind of thing. So he was quite content with leaving it the way it was. He could care less. The hurt of losing his father left a long time ago even though his father was never truly a father to him.

But right now, he was stress free. Even if he was hurting internally he still felt free. No mate that worried about him or followed him around. No family to really go back to. He visited once in awhile, but those visits were becoming few and far between. He didn't know where he stood with his family. He didn't hate them, but he didn't like them. He always had trouble when it came to his emotions.

He let out a long drawn out sigh before stopping at a small stream. He was thirsty and tired from traveling. He lowered his head and took a sip drinking his fill before hearing movement nearby. He perked his ears up at the sound of the bushes rustling and got in defensive mode.

"Is someone there?" He called out with a gruff voice. He was getting older and becoming more like his father then he would have liked.

She wasn’t used to this; wasn’t used to wandering out of the world of her mother. Before, she was forced to do things she didn’t want to. But Vivietta was small, small and vulnerable. She relied heavily on her mother for food, and because of that, she had to do what she was told, or feel the wrath her mother would likely reign down on her. So she did it. She gathered material, hunting things down ( and failed to catch them ), anything she asked. And when she finally left… when she finally escaped from that world of hate and manipulation, she didn’t know what to do.

She didn’t know how to survive…

The purple mare shook her head some, dipping her head down slightly toward the ground. She sniffed at the grass for a moment before breathing out a sigh. Her ears pinned behind her head as she tried to figure out what it was she could do. She sniffed at the grass and tried to get some through the muzzle, but was only able to get a small bit through the metal bars. She shook her head in frustration before moving forward once more. She needed to find a place with longer grass that she could possibly fit though and get some food. Her small tail flicked behind her, fluffing slightly and resting against her flank. If she could just find someplace to eat, drink, and rest. Someplace safe.

The mare’s ears perked slightly at the sound of water. Vivietta hadn’t found water she could drink yet. If there was water up ahead she would be able to get something into her system that would, at the very least give her something in her system that would help her keep going. She allowed herself a small sigh of relief as she moved forward, careful and quiet. She paused when she could see the stream through the bushes. Her head tilted to the side, watching the water with interest. And after a moment, she moved forward quietly and felt herself brush against some bushes. She glanced down toward the leaves, before looking once more over to the stream. It was just so inviting.

And then someone spoke, and she panicked. She ducked her head down, ears pinning slightly against her scalp as she glanced around to find who spoke. She didn’t want to interrupt anything, let alone get caught by another out here in the open. Her mother had always told her everyone was evil and would hurt her, would abuse her and possibly even kill her. And thus far, Vivietta hadn’t met anyone to confirm or deny those claims. She pondered moving forward and into the open, or to run. After a moment, she inched her way out of the bushes and glanced around, before seeing the stallion not far off. She stared toward him for a few moments, her head dipping down some and ears pinning more as she watched him like she was standing in front of a Skinwalker. ”S-sorry… for interrupting you…” She whispered, her voice quiet from behind unable to open her mouth enough to talk loudly.

He paused when the mare stepped out of the bush. He stared at her for what felt like a lifetime before taking a few steps to approach her. He rarely did such a thing because he couldn’t find a single individual worthy of his time. Iona was that for him, but now they were only friends and nothing more. It bothered him that he could never find someone to settle with; someone to call his own. He felt like a misfit or like there was something wrong with him. “Interrupting what? I’m not really doing anything.” He said in a gruff tone noticing immediately the muzzle around her nose.

That had to be annoying.

He thought as he examined her further. It made sense why he could barely hear her when she spoke. That muzzle would limit how far she could actually open her mouth. “Doesn’t that bother you? Why don’t you take it off?” He asked raising his brow slightly as he took note of her shy behavior. His skull mask covered this however and she wouldn’t be able to notice the look he was giving her at the moment.

“You should probably take that off if you want others to actually be able to understand you.” He said with his words flowing off his tongue like liquid poison. He lacked good social skills because all he was used for was battle fodder. But he stopped himself from saying anything further when he noticed how she was acting. He wasn’t use to this. He was use to strong willed mares that would always give him a piece of their mind. She confused him a lot. It was a feeling he wasn’t use to; something that was out of the ordinary for him. “Do you need some kind of help or something? Are you lost?” He decided that was a better line of questioning then what was going on in his mind right now.

“What the hell is wrong with you?
“Are you some kind of freak?”
“Do me a favor and just go away..”

They were questions he would never say aloud. He had his fair share of weirdo’s in his family, but unlike them he judged everyone. Usually unfairly and he didn’t care one way or another. His father always use to tell him it was impolite, but he still did it. Right now, however, he didn’t know what to make of this mare.

“I’m not going to harm you…It’s been a long time since I’ve actually had someone to speak with.” He was being honest. Even when he was with Iona, he was still away from her. He was a loner by nature, but he still craved conversations from time to time like everyone.

“So you don’t have to act so afraid of me.” With those words, he stepped close enough to where they were only a few inches apart.

Vivietta shifted uneasily in front of the stallion, her ears pinning slightly against her head. She wasn’t used to this… wasn’t used to being out and about. Her mother never let her do these things; never let her wander the area and learn about new worlds. Or people in general. She breathed out a soft sigh, her bright eyes flickering up to him in confusion. He seemed to stare at her muzzle, as though trying to figure it out, or even figure out why she wore it. And the thought made her shudder. What if he was going to use her like her mother did? What if he was going to hurt her or try and shove something through the bars for her to eat and she wouldn’t be able to fight him off? What if… No. No. Don’t think like that. She chastised herself, shaking her head. She couldn’t just jump to conclusions like that and think that way. It was dangerous, and could make her life a living hell. If she wasn’t careful, she would end up driving herself to an early grave… And that wasn’t why she had escaped her mother’s grasp, now was it? No, it wasn’t.

Vivietta lifted her head slightly and let her eyes flicker over him. He was asking her so many questions, and she was trying to keep track of each one, but it was getting confusing. He eyes flickered away for a moment, before pinning back on the stallion. She fretted somewhat that he was going to attack her, but he seemed to just be attacking with questions. Her eyes flickered somewhat nervously, before she dipped her head some shyly. Her ears pinned back again, and she took a few slow steps back. But then he was saying she could trust him. That he wasn’t going to hurt her. It put her on edge, mostly because they had just met, but what if he was telling the truth? What if he was going to be nice to her and help her? And it was true… If she could get the muzzle off she would be able to eat and drink a lot easier. But that also meant that if she wasn’t careful… He could snap her neck, or bite her, or tighten it, or…

No, bad Vivietta. Stop it.

The mare pulled herself from her thoughts long enough to see the stallion take a step toward her. It put a panic in her, and she took a half step back, nervous. She swallowed thickly, despite her heart pounding in her chest. She needed to be careful. Maybe if she talked to him a little more… She blinked up at him, eyes showing her slight fear. ”I… I do-don’t know… M-Mother said…” She trailed off, because that wasn’t a good idea, don’t talk about her. ”U-Um… I’m Vivietta…” She mumbled, lifting her head just a tiny bit.
