The first task Clyde was assigned to do was help with clean up on something. He really didn't know what caused the damage, wither it was an earth quick or an attack, all he knew as that some time that night he had nightmares of being trapped forever in a small glowing box unable to get out. He might be getting a little claustrophobic after realizing he spent months in that pod. Thankfully he couldn't remember it. What he was doing was exploring his new space, and clean up on the upper levels of the dorms was a great way to do so. So he grabbed a broom and pushed to start. No need to advertise what he actually could do. It seemed new trainees got paid about the same no matter what they were doing. Why do more work? So he pushed the broom along and picked up the debris for now. Anyone he came across got a friendly hello.

Arorangi had been helping clean up the hallways, considering the extend of the damage. Some of the rooms had been just fine, but others were less fortunate, and there was much to be done, even for the people who's places were all right.
Which was why Arorangi was doing his best to help, as much as he could. His own room had had a few things knocked off of shelves, but other than that, and some debris littering the floor, he'd been fine. He'd run a few errands here and there, gathering tools for repairs, sweeping up dust, and now he was back in the hallway, trying to make it more livable for those who had to walk back and forth.
Arms full of plaster and drywall bits, Arorangi almost didn't see the young man just ahead of him, and stumbled just in time away from him, the debris crashing out of his arms and onto the carpet.
"Whoops," he said with a bellowing laugh. "I am very sorry, I did not mean to make more work for you! Here, let me - "
He bent down and started cleaning up again.
"Are you new?" he asked brightly. "I do not believe we have met before! I am Arorangi!"

Clyde dropped into a crouch and picked up the fallen things. "It's fine. We are just moving messes at this point anyways." he gave the other man a small cheesy smile. "Yes I'm new, nice to meet you Arorangi." he stumbled slightly over the pronunciation. That was not a name from around Oregon that's for sure. I'm Clyde." he finished picking up the pieces and stood. "Where do these go?"

Arorangi beamed at him.
"A pleasure, Clyde!" he said brightly, thrusting out a hand to the other man, and dropping several more things in the process. They fell with a clatter onto the floor in a noisy heap. "I am glad to know that there are new people here on the island, the island is in definite need of some new faces! Not that there is anything wrong with the old faces, but it is very important to make new friends!"
He reached out and patted Clyde jovially on the shoulder and then glanced down at the pieces.
"Oh, I am not actually sure," said Arorangi with a laugh, scratching at his head. A few dreadlocks swayed over one muscular shoulder. "I just picked them up on the way here, I believe they are trash to be recycled, or maybe they can be used in some other way, but I was just trying to clean up the hallway!"

Clyde laughed and shuffled the things to one arm before grasping Arorangi's hand with a good grip. On that was more designed to hold a hammer steady than to shake. A small voice in the back of his head scoffed at the dropped items but he brushed it off, he didn't mind. It was all a mess anyways. "I'm glad I could find someone willing to make friends. It's hard when there are already groups." and it was, an he being a traveler found it was harder to make friends than most. But a friendly face and and offering to assistance always worked for him in the past. It was time for him to network and he was already liking Arorangi. "Getting them out of the hallway is a good start. Since we are on an island it would be best to save things. is there a trash can we can toss all this into for the mean time?" While he had a clear idea as to what to do, simple things like finding supplies were still a struggle. (Thus why he grabbed the broom.)

Clyde's handshake was nice and firm, clear evidence of a hard worker. Arorangi's only hand was calloused, skin a little rough from years spent doing various aspects of outdoor manual labor, most of it in the fields outside of his father's home in New Zealand.
"Making friends is always an important part of coming somewhere new!" said Arorangi brightly. "It took me a bit to get myself integrated here on the island, but after I have managed to make new friends, it has become a lot easier! But yes, there are already groups here, yet I am not in any of them, I like a lot of people!"
He gathered a few more stray bits of debris into his grasp and glanced up and down the hallway. It was still rather a mess, but the cleanup would not be completed after one night, after all. This was a great, big thing to have to get through, and would take a lot of people to help with.
"I think there are trash cans in the storage closets, if we can find one!" said Arorangi, taking a few steps.
"So, where are you from, Clyde?"

Clyde nodded. The outliers were always easier to make friends with. This made sense. Also friends with everyone. Clyde could do that. And from the sounds of his duties, it wouldn't be a bad idea to do so. Trainees weren't expected to do much yet but he took some pride in doing a good job. And the first step was to build a strong foundation. "Ahhh good." Now which doors had closets and which had rooms, that was the question. He didn't want to walk in on anyone. And even if he thought he knew, he didn't. "Would that be end of the hall?" "Ashland... Er Oregon. It's a little hippy town. But I'm a bit of a tumble weed. I've traveled a lot recently. What about you?" hippy was probably the best was to describe his last residence. Though even as a kid he moved around a lot.

Arorangi had no idea which doors were closets and which were not, but an adventure was still an adventure. Besides, if they didn't find one, they could always go back and goof off, or maybe Arorangi could show him around the place a little.
"Perhaps it is at the end of the hall," he said brightly, peering this way and that. "One would think, but I have opened many doors before that were not exactly what I thought they were!"
He gave a booming laugh that indicated he'd accidentally walked in on several people before, and Arorangi turned to give Clyde a beaming smile.
"I am from New Zealand!" he said happily. "It is a most beautiful place, have you ever been there before?"

Clyde laughed a little at the idea of this man walking in on several of the other hunters. What an Awkward experience that must have been. He could only hope that he only managed to barge in on clothed people. "I'm From Oregon. That's in the United states... I sadly had never been out of country before. Passports are expansive man along with airline tickets." he shrugged a bit and lost a piece of his pile. "Oh oops. I'll come back for that."

"I have only been to Nebraska in the United States!" said Arorangi, cheerfully continuing on their way. He probably was dropping more debris than was carried, but since the hallway was still littered with wreckage, this was both hardly noticeable and hardly surprising. "I lived there after my father died and I went to the States to live with some family friends! It was a very nice place! I have never been to Oregon, though."
There was a door up to the left that looked like it did something. Arorangi reached for it, tugging at the handle, and it swung open rather abruptly. A series of mops and brooms came tumbling out on top of him, and he gave a squawk of surprise, dropping his armful entirely to bat away the cleaning supplies.
"Well, I have found a closet," he wheezed out. "I am not sure it is the right one, however..."

"Hey look we found more brooms!" Clyde laughed and dumped his pile of debris down next to it. "Where there are brooms there are sure to be dust pans and at least one trash bag." he imbibed in searching for something. "Ok maybe not in this one... but hey look pales. this will speed things up." he tossed out a bucket to Arorangi. "I hitch kicked through Nebraska once. I didn't really stop though. there was a nice market that let me lurk around a while."

"I did not expect this many brooms, admittedly," said Arorangi with a laugh. There were at least three or four of them that had fallen out, along with a couple of mops, a dustpan, and some scrub brushes. "Something tells me that we do not need this many..."
He took one of the offered buckets and crouched down, beginning to dump the debris into it with messy gestures.
"A market?" Arorangi asked, glancing up at Clyde. "What sort of market?"

"Oh just a one of those road side grocery store things. I can't remember if that was a 24 hour one or not but they let me use the place to get a ride. A really nice lady ran it. We chatted it up for a while." Clyde looked into the closet. "I don't know, we could always use them as weapons or something right? More weapons is good." Clyde had no idea just how ineffectual they would be as a weapon. He followed Arorangi's lead and started to collect the debris.

"There are many nice people in Nebraska!" said Arorangi cheerfully. He finished stuffing as much debris as he could into the bucket, and then reached for one of the brooms. Two of them had normal heads to them, but the last was one of the long, flat ones used to sweep up large amounts of things.
"Here," Arorangi said, and thrust it towards Clyde. "We can use this and get some of the rest of the mess up, and I will grab the dustpans."
Which he did, a moment later, looking quite pleased about the whole scenario.
"Tell me about yourself, Clyde," he said brightly. "What do you like to do? What is your favorite food? Where would you go if you had a million dollars?"

"There certainly are. I'm lucky to have met them." Clyde took the broom and looked it over. this would do. he got the broom down and lingered at the closet. He got paid the same no matter how fast they worked right? "I traveled a lot and did whatever odd jobs I could find. This one seems a little more permanent. But if I had a million dollars... I'd go on a cruse around the world and keep traveling till the money ran out probably. " he laughed. "What about you? What would you do with it?" he picked up the conversation where it was curious about his new friend. He seemed chill.
