With her new found companion on her shoulder, Kalli was content to walk through the streets of the city. It wasn't like she had anything to do for the day. Her siblings were busy and her friends were no where to be found. Incanthis hadn't stopped by to take her shopping in some time and the last time she'd seen Istanell hadn't gone so well. Kalli didn't even know where to begin to look for Azure either. Her dark red eyes cast a glance at the bird on her shoulder and she smiled. The baby kinfa seemed content to remain there and was even closing it's eyes slowly. The young fire earthling shook her head but left her familiar alone. Focusing on where she was going Kalliope did her best to avoid bumping into others on the crowded street.

Zuberi sat down on a bench, watching the crowd go past without really seeing them. Soon he would be leaving to Matori. He even, to his surprise, had a guide. The Shifter seemed like a good sort, but it didn't change that this would be the first time he was leaving Oba. He...was unsure how he felt about that. Zuberi didn't consider himself a sentimental person, but Oba was all he knew and it was strange to think of leaving it for...well he wasn't sure how long. For a moment, Zuberi just stared off, looking a bit lost, like a giant overgrown dog without its owner.

Kalli thought she was ding well by not bumping into anyone. Though she was also trying not to disturb the sleeping kinfa on her shoulder. That was where she made a mistake though. She took her eyes off what was in front of her for a moment to check on the bird and she ended up getting ran into by a woman that was in a hurry. Kalliope lost footing and stumbled until she finally fell. Only she didn't hit the ground. She landed on something soft. Her familiar had woken and fluttered away, landing behind the bench. Kalli gave a small squeak and looked at what, or rather who, she had landed on. It was an oban male that had taken up a place on the bench. Speechless, her eyes grew wide.

There were some things even Zuberi couldn't be prepared for and a strange Oban girl falling into his lap was one of those things. He let out a soft grunt at the impact. Instinctively he reached out and grabbed hold of her waist, steadying her. He caught a quick glance of a baby kinfa, which landed safely on the back of the bench. He turned his attention back to the girl in his lap. Pretty and clearly surprised by her own clumsiness, so at least it wasn't the ploy of a thief or one of the girls (and boys) who tried to get his attention at times. Satisfied with that he easily lifted her up and placed her beside him. "Are you okay?"

A small squeak came from her as she was easily lifted up and placed beside the boy. Kalliope felt her cheeks grow warm but she quickly took her eyes off him so that she could look at her kinfa. "Lyier, are you okay?" She shifted so that she could turn around on the bench. The bird gave a chirp and fluffed up his feathers but otherwise looked unharmed. Kalli let out a breath she hadn't realized she'd been holding then looked back at the boy who she'd landed on. "I'm fine, thank you, and I'm sorry about that. Someone bumped into me when I wasn't paying attention."

He paused before answering her, just looking her over for a moment. She seemed younger than him, but not too off in age, possibly. He didn't recognized her, which didn't many she wasn't nobility, since he never paid attention to them unless they caught his interest. And...she was pretty. "It's fine," he said and glanced over at her bird. He reached out tentatively to put it.

She didn't seem to notice him looking her over since her gaze had gone back to the bird. Kalli moved a bit, wiggling her hips, and got up off the bench so that she could walk around it and collect the kinfa more easily. Before she reached it, however, the boy was reaching out to it. Kalliope stopped to watch what would happen. "Uhm.." The fire orange kinfa turned his head to look at Zuberi but he did't seem to move beyond that. With the boy's hand getting closer the bird simply closed his eyes slowly, expecting some form of affection since Kalli spoiled him.

Zuberi rubbed the Kinfa under the chin, pleased when it didn't run away from him. A small smile crossed his lips. He had never been very good with animals, well except for the Janarim, but with them it was more a show of seeing who was the dominant one in the relationship. This was new. "It goes by Lyier?"

The red head was surprised by what she saw. Normally Lyier didn't like others. And by others she meant her family. The little bird freaked out and fluffed up when any of her siblings tried to pet him. "Wha- Oh, yes. He goes by Lyier." Since the kinfa was enjoying the attention she didn't move to collect him just yet. "You must have a way with animals. He usually only lets me touch him." Kalli mused. The baby bird peeked one eye open to make sure Zuberi continued with the affection then slowly let it close.

Zuberi shook his head, chuckling lightly. "I'm terrible with animals. People too." A smile curled his lips, gentling his usually intimidating features as he continued to pet the kinfa. He seemed content to do it all day if must be. He turned his gaze back to the girl. "I'm Zuberi," he said.

Now that was something. Someone that was supposedly horrible with animals was able to pet her familiar. Kalliope stared hard at the bird for a moment. Was it just her siblings the bird didn't care for? As the boy spoke again she brought her dark red eyes to his face. It took her a moment to realize what he'd said. "Pleasure to meet you, I'm Kalliope." There was a cringe as she said her full name. "Call me Kalli though." When Lyier chirped again she smiled at him. "Silly bird." Orange feathers ruffled a bit and he leaned into the boy's hand.

"Kalli," he said, "your bird has very strange taste in men." He chuckled. "How long have you had Lyier?"
It felt strange to make small talk. But he found himself pleased with the situation and wished for it to last just a bit longer. The bird was pleasant company and the girl, well, she didn't bother him either. She seemed more intent on the bird than him, which was different, but not unpleasant.
"Are you from the city?"

She made a small face at her familiar but gave a nod in agreement. "That he does." Kalli sighed. "You cuddle with a stranger but not my brothers?" It was then that she placed her hands on her hips and proceeded to show a bit of sass to the bird. "Crazy bird." When all Lyier did was peek an eye at her she gave a small laugh. "Sorry, I've not had him long. A few weeks I think." Kalliope was sure that was accurate. Give or take a few days. Honestly she was horrible with time. Taking her gaze away from Lyier she looked at Zuberi again, this time she actually looked. He was a cute looking boy. Definitely one that would get the attention of girls. "Yes, I actually live about five blocks from here."

"So close," Zuberi said. He wondered how many time they might have crossed paths without ever noticing it. " Then I suppose it was good luck that you happened to fall into my lap, unless you have a habit of falling into people's laps." He teased, though it was hard to tell with only the hint of a smile on his lips. He reluctantly pulled his hand away from the bird, giving it a soft pat on the head.

"What? No! You're the first! I mean..." Kalli closed her eyes and groaned a little. Her face was flush with embarrassment. "I don't usually fall." Opening her eyes reluctantly she looked at the boy's face, trying to see if he was serious or just playing with her. Nothing really showed in his expression though. "I'm training to be a dancer, so I usually have better balance." With one hand she reached over to the other and gently rubbed. Oddly she had a fluttering feeling in her stomach. Lyier made a noise of protest when Zuberi stopped petting him and puffed up. Soon he hopped toward the boy in order to gain his attention again.
