Clyde Descended.
The room was dark, except for a torch. The lighting was poor.
Find his weapon… Find? What did that even mean? How was he to find… he didn’t see weapons only tablets. How odd, and disjointed. Then again it felt like everything here was that way. He didn’t have a foundation on which to place his feet yet. The ground was sandy, slippery…
There was a whispering coming from a strange wall. A whispering a soft hiss, and mummer. It wasn’t so much that it spoke to him, more that he was drawn to her. Her, yes her. He knew it before he even touched her. On her front was a rune like a pair of crossed guns. He let his hands run over it feeling the cool tablet. It drew him in. Like a lizard’s skin.
“Hello.” He said, speaking to her. She gave a small hiss of greeting back. Not words, just a soft hum of contentment. Yes this was the one. She was here.
He reached up to take the Tablet and pulled. She didn’t budge, seemingly stuck in the wall. He tugged harder. Still stuck. Then with a pop she came free and for a moment he thought the wall might come down. But it seemed fine. Other than the whispers and one other tablet that seemed to be hissing at him. It was not a happy hiss but a grumpy one of discontent for him having taken this particular tablet.
“Don’t worry about it.” A thought not his own, a voice not his own spoke to him. For a moment he looked around. But he was alone except for the tablets upon tablets.
And the tablet in his hands. He stared down and a moment later the tablet changed, feeling powerful in his hands. It shifted and broke apart, no, moved into two places, one for each hand. His hands fell into place, comfortable around the handles.
“I am Vanessa.” She hissed.
“I’m Clyde.” He felt some flush raise to his cheeks as he felt like a school boy again. The guns felt cool and heavy in his hands. His newly awakened arms were not yet fully ready to take hold of these. Yet there was something else, something different. He felt stronger too, more complete. And she was beautiful. He was not unimpressed. But having her so close in his head was an odd feeling, like he would never be alone again.
“You won’t be.” She spoke again speaking directly to his thoughts. He hadn’t realized he had thought loud enough for her to hear. He was a surprised, but felt a soft hum of amusement coming from her. It was his first time with this. But he felt power a small buzz of adrenaline flooding though him. With this, he strangely knew how these worked, in concert together. He let his finger rest outside the trigger, ready to go in a moment’s notice. Powerful and beautiful. “You won’t be either.”
He felt an agreement of a kind. They would work together. She would lend him her strength, though he wasn’t sure what he would give her in return. He would figure it out. He let his fingers run along her exterior. In time.
