Glitnir was starting to get a feeling of "can't won't don't stop" when it came to patrolling. No matter how much the wound on his leg hurt, he kept finding reasons to keep patrolling, or rather, he got bored with doing the early-summer lounging and healing and needed to "go for a walk." He had been meeting interesting people, anyway, and so that was as good of a motivator as any to keep going around. He hadn't encountered anyone particularly troublesome; perhaps his lucky streak would keep up. Or perhaps it wouldn't. A streak of black whizzed by Glitnir's feet, a rat-like youma about the size of a medium-large dog. Well, it was part of the job to dust it, so Glitnir pursued it. At one point, it stopped, looking at him with baleful eyes, and he saw that it had something in its mouth: a sketchbook. Was it a trophy from a recent victim, or something lost? Perhaps he'd find out after he dusted the damn thing.

People had warned him not to go out and about at night. They had warned him that there were creepy things that meandered around, looking for souls to consume. And he would believe them, as he had seen them many times on his own from the windows of tall buildings that he would occupy at night to get a view of the city. Shadows that rush about as if it was right and proper to exist at any given time. Perhaps it was so. And if that certainly was the case then he should have KNOWN not to go out at night. Even IF the stars looked marvelous, and even if he wanted to use it as inspiration for a later scene he might paint. None of it was worth it.
All that said, the entire situation could have been so much worse. Sitting at a bus stop in the dark could have ended in bloody murder, being eaten by what were known as the youma, or being kidnapped by one of the dark warriors and used as blood bag for whatever nefarious activities they do. Instead, he was yipped at angrily by a large rat-like creature, who for some dastardly reason decided that his note book was far more delicious than himself, as was that jogger who dashed away screaming.
"O-oh no you don't!" It was small! He could take it! So he dashed after it, pulling out his easel to use as a potential weapon if he could just get close enough to whap the creature. It scampered out of sight and continued away, and he nearly lost it before he slowed down his run to see a young man standing there instead, looking after where the youma had ran.
Strange clothes.. Standing outside at night with no fear in his eyes. NOT entirely shrouded by black or another ominous color. It must have been one of those Warriors of Light. Or atleast that's what he liked to call them.
"Excuse me! I uh.. Could you help me get that creature?! He ran off with something important!!"

"Huh?" A civilian came running up to him, giving the youma an opportunity to skitter off. He mentioned something important, and Glitnir felt some relief. The person the sketchbook belonged too was still living! If that was this guy's, anyway. "Was that sketchbook yours?" He took a quick glance off in the direction the creature ran off in. "I can definitely get it back for you! Just stay back. That thing will go for you if it sees you. I'll try my best to get it back unharmed." With that, he charged off after the youma, hoping that the civilian would stay put, or at least not draw the beast's attention if he came along.

"It would go after me? That's.. Rather surprising seeing as the little thing stole my book first. I mean, what does it even need a book full of cruddy sketches and faces for? I hardly doubt it's an art student.." Anxo started off loudly, anxiously, but slowly spoke softer until he reached a mumble. How embarrassing! Rambling on like an idiot!
"I will stay back, Just.. you stay safe too, okay? And when you return We'll have formalities! Just please.. Please get it back!"

It took the book first? How odd. Either the youma was trained to grab what it saw as potentially pertinent documents or it was just really dumb. In any case, Glitnir chased down the youma and managed to corner it long enough to give it a few solid whacks with his scales. The thing yelped and dropped the book before running off again. Judging from the dust flaking off, it was on the ropes. He had to finish the job before it ran off to recover or harm anyone else. "It dropped the sketchbook! I'm going to go finish it off!" Hoping the young man would take the cue to follow, he went to go follow the youma.

Anxo did not have to be told twice! As soon as he heard his beloved sketchbook was released he dashed towards it, scooping it up and hugging it tightly to his body as the other man continued to run off into the distance chasing that hellspawn of a creature. He said he was going to go finish it off.. So that meant he was going to kill it, right?
The young man looked back at his belongings that were left abandoned a fgood number of meters when the creature first took his book, trying to decide whether or not he should go and retrieve them. Bah, most likely that would be a terrible idea.. How could he thank this Warrior if he the other could not find him?!
For now he waited here, hoping that he'd return. What's to say that he even would? What if he was simply going to dash off after he accomplished his task? Even so, Anxo opted to stay right where he was.

With a few well-aimed swings of his scale, the beast crumbled to dust and was no more. Glitnir sprinted back to Anxo's position after dispatching the youma. "Well, it's done," he said. "Are you okay? Nothing came by to hurt you while I was gone, right?" He exhaled heavily and wiped the sweat off his brow. "You've got to be careful around here... if I hadn't come around, that thing might have come back to hurt you really badly. Sometimes you've just got to run." His focus shifted to the sketchbook. "Is that sketchbook a memento of yours, or just your important work? I'm just wondering."

Through his worry and fretting, what was just a few moments felt like an eternity to Anxo as he anxiously waited for the warrior of light to return. There was nothing more he could do while standing there except for fidgeting with his finger tips and trying to make out any sort of shape that might have been coming from where the warrior had originally disappeared to. In that moment there was nothing else around and it seemed like not even the crickets wanted to make noise. His own breathing felt loud in his ears.
That figure running towards him was welcomed, once Anxo realized that it was in fact the warrior of light and not some other random creature.
"Yes... Yes, I'm fine, thanks to you! I-I know, I should have ran but this book.." He glanced down to the book in his hands and then grinned slightly once Glitnir had asked about it.
"No, not a memento, or important work, really. It's like... Whenever I have a spontaneous thought, inspiration, or want to chuckle or anything like that, it goes into this book." He flipped it open, turning a few pages. there were scribbles of the occasional fan art or of just every day life objects, but most of the pictures still consisted of scenery and reference notes for his work.
"It's like an emotional portfolio. I dunno, but thank you so much for helping me get it back! I don't know if there's a way to thank you properly besides getting my butt back into the safety of my apartment."

"Oh, so you're an artist, huh?" Glitnir eyed the pages as Anxo flipped through them, noticing some scenery. "My little sister likes drawing, too. Her sketchbook has a lot of cityscapes and things like that. Also some weird stuff like a strawberry spaceship." He cast a quick glance over to a nearby building. "That's a good plan, I'd say. Do you want me to escort you home? When there's one monster, there's likely to be at least one more trooping around in the background."

"Yeah! I do a bit of scenery design for the DCU theater department! If you sister would ever want to compare ideas, that'd be really cool! And strawberry spaceships sounds like the basis of a really really awesome play! Oh, uh, But you're a warrior of light! A superhero of sorts, yes? So.. Uh.. I guess that wouldn't work well, would it?" Oh poor Anxo was practically tripping on his words as he spoke excitedly to the man who had come to his rescue. The offer to be walked home was so well received that the young man eagerly nodded.
"If you wouldn't mind, that would be wonderful! I'm sure that you'd be busy for the evening, but if you'd like, I could offer you a snack or something for your troubles, if you wanted to stay a while. But you are patrolling, right? So Perhaps I shouldn't distract you for too long.."

"Scenery... my sister would definitely love to see that! And I'll have to keep an eye out for your work next time I'm around the theater." Glitnir cocked his head as Anxo spoke. "A warrior of light? I guess that's one way to call it. I think I could have my sister find you sometime so you could discuss things anyway. Did I get your name? I don't think I did." He extended his hand for a handshake. "You can call me Glitnir. I'll give you my civilian name once we're somewhere safe." A beat went by before he continued. "I'm busy tonight, but I wouldn't mind coming over for a snack sometime. Give me your information, and we can set something up!" He took a few steps forward, looking behind him to see if Anxo followed. "Tell me which way to go, and I'll lead the way home."

"Yeah! Warrior of light! It's from this video game I play, but the title fits, right? I know of this war that's going on and about, and to me, atleast, it really feels kinda... Light vs Shadow. We all know how that ends up, but I feel like the name kinda blends really well."
The offered hand was taken in his own firm grip and given a few quick shakes before being released.
"Anxo DeLuna! It's a pleasure to meet you, Glitnir. I'll give you my address when I get to my home. My number too! You can feel free to call me up any time for a late night snack. College student and what not, up all hours of the night. You know how it goes."
A hand came up to point to a medium rise building that could be seen peaking over the tree tops. It wasn't anything special, but it was nice enough, especially being so close to the park these days.
"Just right over there. Fourth Floor, Room 417. Lead on!"

Glitnir couldn't help but chuckle at Anxo's enthusiasm. This one certainly seemed to be impressed with him. "I'd say you play too many video games, but you're right." The enthusiasm was almost a little overwhelming; Anxo was certainly willing to provide all kinds of things. "I definitely know how it goes. I'm going to be in a graduate program this coming year, so all-nighters will be everywhere. I'll lead you home, and then I'll give you my information." It was definitely nice to meet another connection in the area. Glitnir led the way, frequently checking over his shoulder to see if Anxo was keeping up. He was looking forward to that snack break.
