Sorry, this post is so weird XD I didn't know what to doooo ovo

Ahhh, Tale. It had been a while since she'd been home, after traveling to Sauti with her father to trade healing supplies. Once home she'd climbed up to her home and collapsed on her bed gratefully. Now that it was morning, though, it was back to work - as her father reminded her that morning. Washed from the road-dust, and dressed, Padma had gone to pick what she could from their garden, outside of town - and now lugged them back in a satchel, pouting as she rubbed a spot on her hand, which was red and enflamed. A Jauhar plant had ripened - she should have known better than to try and pick it, but she had mistaken it for something else. Now, a rash had erupted over her skin - raw and burning.

She really should have gone straight to her father, but there was a sort of overwhelming desire to sink the burning flesh in water - so instead she paused just outside town, sitting in the grass and taking her canteen, pouring it over her hand with a relieved sigh.

Dezani had just gotten back from Sauti himself after doing a favor for his father. Now that he'd been allowed to become a rider instead of a beast tamer, Dezani really didn't mind doing an errand for him every now and then. As long as it didn't become a full time ordeal. Things were slow with him and Raiha at the moment as far as training went. She was still getting used to him, and he was still figuring out just what he needed to teach her to be the best mount. Lost in his own thoughts, the lancer didn't realize anything too out of the ordinary until Raiha started to squawk at something in the grass.

"What? What is it girl?" He questioned, following the bird to the spot it had insisted on going. In the grass sat a younger Leafling girl, and Dezani couldn't help but laugh. He really hoped Raiha hadn't thought she was her next meal. "Are you okay, miss?"

Padma soon ran out of water in her canteen, but for the moment her hands were soothed, the enraging flares of nerves dulling somewhat, even if they still felt raw. She really should continue home, have her father look at it, but she knew that showing him what had happened would result in a stern lecture, one that she wasn't in the mood for. So, instead, she enjoyed the scenery - the quiet life of the Tale woods.

That is, until a brightly colored Kinfa (those Sauti birds she had been so pleased by) appeared. For a moment, she was startled, blinking wide-eyed at it - but soon a boy followed, laughing softly at the frantic bird's antics. Out of politeness, Padma nodded to the fellow Leaf earthling, but then her eyes tugged back to the Kinfa, breathless at the beautiful plumage, a thoughtful look crossing her face. What she wouldn't give to take a feather - the coloration was so lovely, she was certain that dying a cloth in those colors would be just as beautiful...

"Hmm? Oh - yes, just resting. " She responded, her voice mellow and airy. And sure enough, she looked well - other than the stiff way she held her hands above her folded legs. The skin was red and irritated, but nothing especially horrible. Truly, she seemed more intent on the bird than anything else, now that the two strangers had appeared. "You have a kinfa? They're beautiful birds - where did you get her ?"

"Oh Raiha? I rescued her from a trap," he started to explain, while said kinfa gave another squawk and settled down next to the younger girl. "I was out dealing with my father's traps when I found her foot caught in one. I guess she saw something she liked and decided to go for it and got herself stuck. One of these days she'll get big enough to where I can actually practicing riding her. Won't you girl?" he cooed to the bird, sitting down beside the two of them.

"What brings you so far out here? Running errands or simply adventuring?" he asked curiously. He had been her age when he was running errands for his father, but hopefully if that were the case she was doing it willingly and not because one of her family members had insisted she do it.

More than a month later ( dead )

A trap?! Padma's eyes widened fractionally, darting to the bird in concern, but the little creature seemed truly content, now. "The poor thing. Wait- you ride Kinfa??" She turned her head back towards him, surprised. She'd only seen the little birds, in the few times she'd traveled into territory where they were abundant - it had never crossed her mind that they grew larger! She blushed, embarassed at her assumption - after all, in hindsight, it was foolish to think they stayed cute and cuddly forever.

After a moment, the boy sat - friendly and curious, and Padma relaxed after her realization, nodding her head with a sheepish smile. " Mmhmm - for my father. He's a healer, in Yera - we have a garden for herbs." Rubbing at her hands again, Padma peered at the boy, looking him over curiously. "You're from here? I thought... maybe I would've seen you, if you were a local!"

"I've been traveling a lot for some time now. Even before I really left home. My father always had me running errands in Sauti and such for him. Trapping business and all that. But yeah, hopefully I'll ride Raiha one day. If she lets me. And if not then well, I have a great companion either way." Dezani blushed a little, embarrassed about talking about himself so much. He hadn't meant to or anything. It had just sort of happened, especially when it came to talking about his precious Raiha. He knew the girl's father was a healer and she was helping him out. That was about it. He felt really rude now.

"So enough about me and Raiha here! What's your name? What do you like to do? Do you plan on becoming a healer like your father?" he questioned, hoping to learn more about her.

I am the Queen of taking forever to tag :I

Even if Dezani seemed self conscious about talking so much, Padma didn't seem to mind. Still - even if Padma got around locally, helping Uquin with his garden and visiting the homes of patients, she had never gone off on her own before! And he had! She was incredibly impressed, and looked at him with renewed interest. So when he turned the conversation to her, Padma pouted, but realized that asking him to go on and on about his travels was probably not very interesting for him.

"Oh! It's Padma. And... I .. don't know?" She shrugged her shoulders and smiled somewhat sheepishly."I don't mind helping people, but I don't know if I have the guts to do it all the time, like he does." Padma would rather travel and see the world - but to do that she'd need a profession to make a living off of! It would be foolish to assume she could just traipse around without supporting herself. "You've been traveling all by yourself, to Sauti and back? That's a long way to go ! I don't think I'd ever be able to do it alone!" Definitely impressed, Padma leaned forward, curiosity clear in her expression and posture. "What's your name, though? Maybe, if you feel like it, you could tell me more about your travels?"

Honestly I'm fine either way. I just enjoy rping and don't mind waiting. But if your muse is not wanting to work with them it's totally fine too. I don't want to force you to continue something if you don't want to. <3

"Oh I'm so sorry!" Dezani exclaimed, feeling very rude for not introducing himself after the talk they'd already had. He had a habit of forgetting to tell people who he was though. Most the time he figured no one wanted to know who he was.

"I'm Dezani, and you've already met my wonderful traveling partner, Raiha," he smiled, formally introducing himself. He wasn't sure what to talk about as far as his travels went though. He could talk about the war maybe, but then again the war wasn't a very pleasant thing. Perhaps he could talk about the different lands he'd been to, though he'd mainly been in Sauti most of the time.

"I uh...honestly don't have many stories to tell. I'm incredibly boring I'm afraid."

It was rare enough that Padma met truly polite people. Normally she was content to sit quietly by and let the louder, more raucous ones do the talking - leaving her in a position where she could react as she wished. However that meant, in cases like this where both she and her talking companion were more quiet and wary in their conversation, that the words became stilted and somewhat awkward. In moments like this, Padma could almost imagine her sister Ujana rolling her eyes and giving her a shove forward, insisting that Padma was obnoxious and talkative enough most of the time, and that her silence really didn't suit her.

The memory was bittersweet, as she hadn't seen or heard from Ujana or her mother in quite some time. But even so, she laughed at the thought, then shaking her head at his apologies. "Charmed, Dezani. Raiha." She turned to look down at the small kinfa, smiling at how cute the bird was, still somewhat startled to realize that they grew. Then again maybe it was foolish to think they'd stay so cute forever.

"Oh hush! You've traveled from Tale to Sauti by yourself, as you've said - rescued poor little damsels in distress-" She gestured to the kinfa with a soft laugh, "That's quite a story already! You're too modest, Dezani."

"Oh I wouldn't say that. Really. Traveling isn't that impressive. Just a lot of walking more than anything. If it came to it I'm sure you would be just as capable, if not more so than I am. Really all I can do is catch and rescue poor little animals. You can use healing arts. That is truly amazing." Dezani paused, hoping he wasn't putting too much pressure on the girl. She had even said she didn't know if she could do healing all the time and here he was bringing up her healing even more.

"Of course, I'm sure you could do anything you set your mind to. Healing or something else." There. He hoped he had made up with his comment from earlier by adding that in.

Haha I'm fine if you are. <3 Again, if you don't need the play, I don't want you to feel you have to continue heart

Padma wanted to insist, she really did. He had come through other lands, had been outside the sphere of a parent's influence. Had some measure of control of his lot in life, even if it was only 'when do I leave town, and where do I go next?' In a way, that measure of freedom was terrifying to her; she'd always been somewhat sheltered by her overprotective father, but ever since her sister's disappearance, it had only gotten worse.

She didn't dislike healing, or that she had a measure of skill doing it. But... becoming a healer, would that mean she stayed here, in Yera, with her father? She winced at the thought, murmuring a half-hearted thank you, even if she noted his realization of bringing the subject back up, rushing to rectify it. "...Thank you. I do sew, a little-- spirits!" Padma had made a sweeping motion with her hand, brushing a stray lock of hair from her eyes, only to remember that she had yet to properly wash her hands, after coming in contact with that toxic Jauhar plant.

While she didn't know if it would actually spread the stinging, red rash to her face, she still scrambled to stand, pinching her eyes closed and holding her hands out, far from her torso. "Spirits, I'm so stupid-- there's a, um... a stream! Just... just over there." She gestured, vaguely, towards her right, wrinkling her nose at her own foolishness. "Can you bring me to it ? Please??"

"Ah yes! Here hold still I'll get you there." He was worried by her suddenly panicked plea and wasted no time picking the smaller girl up. Glancing around, he spotted just where she was pointing to, carrying her over to said stream. He wasn't sure if he could do anything to help, but he could at least try. Better than to just sit and watch the poor girl struggle blindly.

"Here, let me see," he muttered, pulling out a rag he had in his pack and dipping it into the stream. Hopefully the water alone would work on cleansing whatever had gotten into her eyes. If not, well he hoped he didn't make it any worse. He hesitated, really concerned he could potentially make it worse, but the longer he waited the worse her problem may become.

"I'm going to try cleaning you up with a wet rag," he warned, leaning closer to dab at her eyes.
