In the year 2148, explorers on Mars discovered the remains of an ancient spacefaring civilization. In the decades that followed, these mysterious artifacts revealed startling new technologies, enabling travel to the furthest stars. The basis for this incredible technology was a force that controlled the very fabric of space and time.

They called it the greatest discovery in human history.

It was only the beginning.

The year is 2214, and the galaxy has finally stepped away from the edge it’s been standing on for nearly three decades. After narrowly avoiding galactic extinction in 2183, 2185, and 2186, with the defeat of the Reapers at the hands of Commander Shepard, the galaxy could finally breathe a sigh of relief. After losing so many lives to the Reapers, there was the question of whether the many civilizations could survive the mass extinctions they inflicted. Entire planets, with populations in the millions and billions, were gone, and it was hard to imagine recovering from such heavy losses. But as is so often the case, life finds a way to survive. The Quarians, with the help of the Geth, having found a way to coexist peacefully, used their knowledge of ship building and massive workforce to help build new colony ships for the other races. The Asari formed the backbone of the administration network, coordinating reconstruction efforts from the Citadel while what remains of the human Alliance military combined with the decimated Turian military while they recovered from the losses on their home planets.

Nearly three decades have passed since the Reaper attack, and things have finally begun to return to some semblance of normality in the galaxy. The Citadel has been repaired, and still remains the main hub of all official galactic business. The Council, main governing body of the galaxy, has reconvened, with the Humans, Asari, Turians, Salarians, and Quarians all having seats on the council, they are all striving to make the galaxy better than before. Having fought off the Reapers, many believe the imminent threats to their way of life have been eliminated, but as is so often the case, evil finds a way to survive. The destroyed and broken husks of the Reapers provide important research data to scientists all around the galaxy, but others seek to use their technology for more sinister ends.

The Council frigate Argent Thames, named for the final battle against the Reapers and based on the SSV Normandy, the ship that Commander Shepard used to fight them, has been dispatched as part of the task force that prevents the use of unregulated Reaper tech. In the past few years, they have been dispatched on several more missions than usual, as illicit research comes to fruition. Most of the time they meet with minimal problems, and each operation is routine. However, this time, hot on the heels of a terrorist who has apparently gotten his hands on a devastating weapon designed with Reaper technology, they have been outpaced at every turn. With no other options, they are forced to turn to a most unlikely ally; a dangerous and deadly psychopath with intricate and intimate knowledge of the terrorist’s organization.

Illium. The Asari corporate colony where those with less-than-legal interests go to do business and seek pleasure. With a population of around fifty million in the capital city alone, it is certainly a great place to get lost or get someone else lost. It was the perfect place to lay low, cool her heels, and wait out the oncoming storm. Her search for Sidero had come up dry here, and the trail went cold, but the drinks were cheap enough, and someone was bound to come through with a new lead before long. Her heavily air conditioned apartment would have frozen a Krogan solid, but she didn’t care, she liked the cold, and it certainly made for a better atmosphere than the sweltering heat outside. Skylar tossed the empty bottle of ryncol off the balcony, wondering who it might hit on the way down to the planet before she heard shuffling in the room behind her. She turned, expecting to see someone pulling a gun on her, but all she saw was the purple Asari maiden she had brought home the previous night. She wasn’t even sure of her name, not that it mattered. She had bought her contract for a song and dance, and then killed the man that sold her to her. Indentured servitude was legal on Illium, as was everything just shy of murder and basically amounted to slavery for how well they got paid. Skylar looked the woman over for a moment then turned back to the view of the sunrise. ”I paid your contract off last night; you can leave any time you like.” She spoke in a deadpan tone, as if it was the most obvious thing in the world. For most people in the Asari’s position this would have been great news, being free of such a contract meant she could do whatever she wanted again. Instead of getting her clothes and leaving however, the Asari walked up to Skylar, blanket wrapped around her body and placed a hand on her shoulder.
”Thank you…” Skylar scoffed and shrugged off the woman’s hand, ”’Thank you’? Really? I spend half of what you’re worth on your contract, and spend the rest of the night taking advantage of you and you say thank you? This place is so ********> The Asari recoiled a little, thinking that she might be mad, and having firsthand experience with that, looked visibly afraid of what Skylar might do. Skylar simply scoffed and gave her a grin, ”Then again I’m one to talk. Get your s**t and get out. I don’t wanna see you around here when I get back. And for the goddess’s sake, don’t sign any contracts while on this planet, no matter how good they sound.” With her Good Samaritan advice given and her ultimatum given, Skylar grabbed her pants and her jacket, slipping them on and heading out the door, leaving the purple Asari to wonder who the woman was and why she helped her get free of her contract.

Skylar wandered the upper city walkways of Nos Astra, Illium’s capital city, hearing the different people chatter around her always calmed her down; it made her feel lost in a crowd, even if she stood out like a Krogan at an Asari wedding. She was up early, but the planet never really slept, everything was going at all hours of the day and night. Shops, businesses, vendors, nightclubs, stripclubs, nothing ever slept on Illium. She once took a recon job surveilling a corrupt store owner for blackmail pictures in this very area, and the owner didn’t leave his shop for 48 hours, and even after that he didn’t stop club hopping for at least another 20. She wished she could lean by the railing and reminisce all day, but she had places to be and people to meet.

If there was one thing Skylar loved on Illium more than anything else, it was the nightclubs. They had the raw energy that she thrived on, the loud music that she loved, the drinks she had a love-hate relationship with, and the people she went home with for a night (or day) of fun. This particular club was one of her favorites. The ‘DJ’ was a VI program that was easily hacked to play Human music so she never had to listen to bad Hanar techno or Turian dubstep while she was here. Just a few button presses on her omni-tool and she was in the zone. Her first stop was the bar, grabbing a drink and waiting for her contact to show. Maybe they’d have info for her, maybe they would come up dry, but she hadn’t dealt with this particular info broker before so she wasn’t sure how on the level they were. She was on edge, but listening to the music and drinking kept her from wrecking the place prematurely. When the lavender Asari sat down in the seat next to hers, with what must have been her servant standing next to her, she glanced up for a moment, and then went back to staring at her datapad, pretending to ignore her new visitors.
”This place has great blue velvet martinis.” Skylar heard the woman speak to her over the music. The woman didn’t have a drink in her hand, and she had said the passphrase, so Skylar responded in kind, ”I prefer Earth brewed scotch… You have something for me?” Skylar asked the woman as the music blared around them. Something felt off about this to Skylar, so she was on edge as she looked over at the beautiful Asari maiden in the scandalous dress, waiting for the reply in the affirmative or the negative.

The nostalgia was as palpable as thick hum of the music in her veins. The second Kiya walked in she wanted to dance. She was dressed for it, showing just enough skin to make things interesting. There was a human girl up on the bar, obviously new and not quite grown into her own hips yet. Kiya bit her lip, a sudden urge to show all the patrons here a real show.

But alas, the Captain would kill her. Kiya sashayed into the bar, Mez at her side. Lumi hadn't wanted anyone going in alone. Kiya and Mez were given plenty of warnings of what they were in for. A quick in and out job. Pity…Kiya would have liked the challenge of getting their target out in a more willing way. "There she is." Kiya spotted her sitting at the bar. Skylar Kross, wanted for a vast array of charges that mostly involved someone's murder. She looked just like her picture, the tattoo just under her shaved hairline making a positive identification simple.

Kiya slid into the seat next to her, Mez on the other side. The passcode was exchanged and Kiya leaned on the bar. Putting herself quite purposefully on display for their target. She leaned in, "I might have a little something for you." The data pad was passed from hand to hand. "I trust you've been having a good time?" Kiya leaned back, eyeing the murderess. She waited, the question poised to check that everything was in order.

Skylar took the datapad from the Asari without another word, pulling out a small black box and starting to decrypt the files on it. She took a sip of her drink and watched the numbers scroll across the screen. "I've been having the time of my life. Blackmail, stickups, the occasional slave trade, nothing out of the ordinary for Illium. My favorite part? It's all legal." Skylar gave a chuckle as she watched the device work it's magic, suddenly very aware that she was still being watched by someone other than the Asari. "Your errand boy is staring at me. I suggest you tell him to quit it. Now that I think of it... weren't you supposed to come alone?" Skylar had noticed this little indiscretion before when they had first arrived, but it was a rule few people followed when conducting business on Illium. Coming alone mostly just meant come with a body guard to protect you from any funny business. But the man next to her didn't strike her as the body guard type. Something was wrong, and Skylar couldn't quite put her finger on it until the song in the club changed. "So how's things up in the Asvari Towers? New office treating you well? I bet it's a higher class of clientele." Skylar decided to see if what she thought might be happening was right or not. If it was, she would be thankful she did, if she wasn't, then she'd down an extra glass of ryncol and maybe bring this lovely lavender lady home with her.

Last time Skylar had a business deal like this go wrong, she very nearly didn't live to regret it. The only thing that saved her a** was the Krogan bartender who didn't like trouble in his club. He shot at her too, but at least he shot at the other guys first, she was one of his best customers after all. Skylar didn't enjoy the idea of being hauled off in cuffs, so she silently reached down to scratch her leg, covertly undoing the strap on her pistol's holster as she readied herself for a fight. The alcohol in her system was making it a little harder to focus her biotics, but she could manage. It wasn't like she hadn't fought off a mercenary company while half wasted on some dextro drinks made for Turians and Quarians.

Illium, Asari owned.... officially controlled by corporate interests. Lilith told herself as she reread through the mission dossier to confirm her allowed parameters. Meanwhile the elevator she was waiting in continued at a steady pace to her desired location; a nice vantage point overlooking the exit to the club their target asset had entered. Stun rounds only, target must be captured alive. a VI transmitted to her brain. I'm aware, you don't need to remind me. she replied back internally to the VI in her inhibitor collar. Her eyes tilted up to view the lights indicating the current floor before calculating her time until arrival. Internally a clock counted down and as it neared zero she prepped herself to move. The elevator pinged before it's doors slid open and she exited. Lilith casually walked along her path with a silver briefcase in hand. Were it not for her light emitting eyes and strange collar she'd look like any other human business woman. Once her destination was reached she scanned the area for any unwanted guests.Upon finding none she set to work.

Her brain quickly went to work using it's immense processing power to infiltrate into the local network. From there she locked down the route to herself while making sure to cover her cyber tracks and mask her presence. Once isolated she knelt down and set her briefcase down on the floor. With a quick push of a button she popped it open to reveal a large array of parts. Her brain guided her hands through an assembly process and within a few seconds she had assembled her sniper rifle. However she kept it low, hiding her presence for now. No need to be in a firing position yet. "Captain, Alpha in position and tapped into the local area networks. Awaiting further orders, over."

It had been a while since Mez had been to a nightclub on Illium, and this one was just like he remembered them to be actually. All of the rising familiarity from their surroundings aside, Mez made sure to focus on their mission that had been told to both himself and Kiya, the Argent Thames’ navigator, numerous times by Captain Lumi. For all his relaxed mannerisms, Mercantz Philips was actually quite capable when it came to missions and his work. Right now, it was the top priority to make sure both himself and Kiya made it out of this nightclub alive and in one piece given who they were here to interact with and help to capture: Skylar Kross.

”There she is.” Is what Kiya had said when they spotted the tattooed woman across the room from where they’d been waiting.

”I see her. No need to point her out.” Mez replied. ’She sticks out like a sore thumb given her practically highest profile case file that I read up on before we left the ship.' Mez thought to himself, resisting the urge to shake his head as Kiya led them over.

Mez followed Kiya’s lead, given his role as the simple bodyguard, on this and sat down next to the Asari. After placing the drinks he'd ordered for himself and Kiya onto the table in front of them, he gave a light stretch of his arms above his head as if to settle himself into a comfortable position and gave a quick study of their female target, Skylar Kross. She didn’t look that terrifying up close, but her criminal record said otherwise to him.

Upon hearing Skylar’s threat over his stare, Mez held back a light chuckle of his own. ”Hey now. What kind of gentleman would I be if I didn’t make sure my employer here was safe?” he replied, giving a slight nod in Kiya’s direction. It wasn’t like he hadn’t done his own share of actual bodyguard work back when he’d been a mercenary either. ”I would suggest my services to you in the future in that regard, but from numerous rumors I checked up on I’d say you probably wouldn’t need it.” He figured it was okay to say something like that since he was supposedly working for an information broker after all.

She hated the city, Illium was hot and smelly and filled with the lowest criminals across the galaxy, and she was ready to be back on the ship the moment they all reached the surface. "why am i on this damn planet Naya" She growls to her second with a cold look on her face, Her uniform had been exchanged for a more local style to blend her in with the rest of the city. She was barely recognizable as the famous captain of the alliance and the second human to ever earn the title of spectre, but the garments that had been designed to keep a Krogan comfortable were making the human suffocate among the unrelenting heat, Who's idea was this anyway? hide the captain in robes on the hottest planet to ever be colonized? across the walk way Lumi had her eyes trained to scan each of the exits of the club for their target in the event she tried to run, inside Kiani, Mez, and Kiya each held their positions to locate and detain the fugitive they were looking for. If she tried to run and successfully made it through one of the three exits out of the club past her three crew members, Lilith was tactically placed above the scene to watch doors one and three while Lumi's position placed her to watch one and two. Knowing Skylar wouldn't surrender easily Lilith was given stun rounds to incapacitate their target.

"Captian, Alpha in position and tapped into local area Networks. Awaitng further orders, over." A sweet melody to her ears, everything was ready before the Target could be alarmed, "good Lilith, keep an eye trained for our target and fire when you have a clear shot, Kiani keep on her tail if she runs, Kyrian, Dryoas i need both of you to cut her off if she gets far" she relays to the whole team there with her, she didnt know what to expect with skylar "Kiya, Mez we are ready"
PostPosted: Mon Jun 08, 2015 5:09 am

Kiya giggled softly. She reached for her drink, taking a small delicate sip. She waited until Mez was finished giving an explanation before joining in. "Precious isn't he? I was rather weary about getting a human, but he's survived surprisingly long." Kiya reached over to Mez and twisted her fingers through his hair. Lightly she played with his hair, intimately enough to suggest that she enjoyed other aspects of his employment as well.

Kiya turned back to Skylar. She took another sip of her drink, enjoying it as she doubted alumni would ever give her the chance to finish. That, and it gave Kiya time to consider her next answer. They had no details about the communication from the original broker and Skylar. "Don't you worry my sweet. I always look after my favourite clients." A coy answer, but it kept away from details. She looked up at Skylar through her lashes, not oblivious to the fact that the holster of the humans gun was unclipped. Kiya simply smiled and didn't move a muscle. "I would be heartbroken if you left me for another."

As if on cue, a lovely, albeit cold voice, was whispering sweet nothings in her ear. Kiya's eyes sparkled in the techno coloured dream lights. "Perhaps it is time we let you enjoy your prize. I have other business until my day is done." Kiya got up and drained the last of her drink in one long swallow. "Forever a pleasure." Gesturing to Mez to follow, Kiya walked towards the door with the kind of walk that said come hither.

Skylar wasn't easy to convince most times, but the Asari did a good job selling her human pet. He talked a little too much for her liking but she could definitely see the attraction. Had the Asari not assuaged her concerns, Skylar might have taken the info and bolted, but as it stood, the nameless Lavender beauty managed to get the upper hand... for all of about a minute. As the Asari and her bodyguard stepped away from the bar, Skylar's datapad beeped and she glanced down. The datapad had the info she desired on it, but also on it was an alarm, stating that the broker she was supposedly doing business with had been taken into custody, and that whoever had the datapad was not who they appeared to be. Heaving a heavy sigh, Skylar slipped the datapad into her pocket and finished her drink. "Here I was hoping this would go well." She supposed it was rather fitting that the music decided to change tones at that particular moment.

In one swift instant, Skylar's hand darted to her her pistol, quickly bringing it up to aim at the Asari and her cohort. Taking a few shots at them, Skylar slipped off her bar stool and quickly ran for the exit she had scouted before; the one that had the least chance of being watched. As she ran, the Krogan bouncer decided to get in her way and she used her biotics to lift him up and chuck him over her head, back into the crowd of people that were only a little startled, some more than others; this sort of thing happened a lot in bars on Illium it seemed. Skylar pushed past the club's patrons, making her way to the exit, but before she could make it there, she was hit by a fist from a direction she hadn't seen, making her stumble a bit. Shouting obscenities in several different languages, she turned to face her attacker, a young woman with a streak of yellow in her hair; clearly a soldier. "Wanna play, b***h? Let's play then." Skylar used her powers to pick up a nearby bar stool and chuck it at the woman from behind, using this as a distraction to bolt for the exit. Pistol still in hand she made it out of the club and onto the skyway, looking around for only a second to see if there was anyone out here after her before she bolted in the direction of her home. She needed to get back to her apartment, get her things and get the heck off this rock. Illium had gotten a little too hot for her liking.

Getting shot was never a good feeling. Getting shot in the shoulder, with the vibrations shaking down your and the feeling like someone just got you with a sledgehammer, was maybe one of Kiya's less favorite injuries. The bullet was lodged somewhere on her shoulder blade, and she could feel the metal grinding against the bone as she pulled her own gun and turned to see Skylar breaking for it.

"The target is running through exit 3. I repeat, exit 3. Come on Mez." Kiya started running through the crowd. A thin biotic shield was just enough to wedge people out of the way, and consequently kept her and Mez from being jumped mid pursuit. "Oh, and if someone on board would kindly get a bullet extraction ready. I imagine this will start to hurt once this is over." As it was, thick warm blood the colour of amethyst was staining the back of her vest.

"Skylar Kross. Surrender, and we'll do this the nice way." Kiya called out, spotting the murderess once they had gotten out of the back door. Or at least she was assuming Mez was still with her. She didn't exactly have time to check. Also without waiting for the surrender, Kiya let off a few rounds of stunners. "That is for the shoulder." She added, hoping that one of them hit. Humans were typically easy to take down. But this one…she was something special.

Skylar's biotic barrier absorbed the few stun rounds that hit her from behind and she spun around to face the Asari that shot her, her face the picture of barely concealed rage. "If you're after me, you should know that that isn't going to happen." She figured they would want her alive, but she wasn't about to give them the pleasure of her going down without a fight. Bringing her gun up to aim at the Asari she stepped backwards slowly, and as she passed a civilian, she grabbed the Quarian in a chokehold and held her to her chest. Placing her between the Asari and her, turning her gun to the Quarian's head as she struggled against her, Skylar shouted, "You shoot at me, she dies. You follow me, I crack her suit open and she dies." Skylar glared at the Asari who was not who she appeared to be, backing up slowly with the Quarian in tow, intending to make serious on her threat unless they backed off. If anyone had read Skylar's dossier, they would know that she had no qualms about slaughtering civilians wholesale if she wanted to get out of a jam. With her biotic abilities, this made her a very dangerous variable when in a crowded situation like this.

The lights and noise was too much for Kiani, putrid smoke filled the air and the popular glowing drinks served to the table weren't even remotely tasty. this was definitely not a place she would call "fun" by any means. "more drinks?' the charming asari offered a tray and Kiani shook her head. That was the eighth time the waitress had come to serve her. she didn't notice the female's eyes linger down her profile as she wandered off, strictly paying attention to the meeting happening at the bar. The captains orders played out over her ear piece and she watched Kiya stand with Mez in tow.

So far so good, things were going well, but it all seemed a bit dull before Skylar stood. Kiani felt the hairs stand on the back of her neck as the gun shots went off and the fugitive made a run for the nearest exit, 3 on the planning charts. wihtout a moments hesitation she threw the table she sat at at the runnign woman and struck her face, her biotic's breaking through the womans barrier to make a clean hit. Skylar screamed profanities and glared,
"Wanna play, b***h? Let's play then." Kiani must have looked stupid taking such pride in the hit that staggered the criminal, the bar stool from behind fixed that though. In a moment the fugitive was out the door and Kiani was scrambling to be out right behind her, granted civies scrambling to get away from the fight stalled her advance. "get the ******** off me!" she gave shout, launching a few people into the air as her increased strength was made to do. s**t im not on point! she thought ashamed for loosing skylar.

Lumi figured Kiani would loose her target, she was still pretty green, but her physical properties were useful, she would learn. "Lilith, that is you Que, Exit three, make sure to shatter the barrier and get the second round in before she has time to recover' she didn't feel the need to ask Lilith to avoid the civi, she trusted the organic android to make the right decision and a clearly calculated shot.

Lumi was already on the move, most of her cover ditched to fall the burning surface thousands of feet below the walk way. her uniform clear to see making most of he civies on the area flee, most of them had some kind of criminal history so it would be understandable that they might fear for their freedom, she came up behind the scene as Skylar took a hostage and threatened to break the Quarian's suit. "ill handle the Quarian Lilith, take your shot, Kyrian, Dryoas, stand by, Kiani, crowd control"

"You must inform the commander that referring to you by only half your designated name is a breach of Alliance code." The VI chimed inside her brain. I don't care. This is not the place or time to address such behavior. she told it. Your attitude is disquieting. it replied. Lilith decided to just ignore it as she peeped on the club via it's own security cameras. Is dancing fun? flashed in her mind momentarily before she pushed it aside, focusing instead on their target. She watched as Skylar pulled a gun and shoot Kiya in the shoulder. Damage minimal, functional rate still high. Though she could see for herself after Kiya confirmed which way Skylar was heading Lilith brought up her rifle and got into position. She was sitting back from the opening of her firing point so as to not have the rifle sticking out of it. Her rifle, a modified version of the M-98 Widow was custom built for someone like her. It was built to be semi-automatic with the knowledge that the fast speed of Lilith's brain could quickly readjust to changes caused by the recoil and continue firing.

Lilith shouldered her rifle and sighted in on exit three waiting to pick up her target. The civilian made things harder and where it not for her inhibitor collar blocking the thought entirely she might just have decided to hit the Quarian and make her dead weight. When Skylar exited the club she picked her up straight away, back to her rifle, and once Skylar was clear of the door she started placing her shot. Atmosphere and distance accounted for, first barrage. her brain processed as her finger squeezed the trigger firing the first round. Within milliseconds Lilith's brain was already adjusting against the recoil and lining up for shot two. In no time at all she was in position and firing shot two. The two bolts would probably only feel like one to Skylar's brain and while the thought would have been amusing her collar inhibited it to prevent her from feeling pride. With the two shots in the air Lilith continued to track her target waiting to see if she needed to tap off two more.
