Part One: Eyes of the Suruhama
Bisera was the sort that would rather stick around at home, holed up in his room, working on whatever piece he was obsessed with at the time, instead of going out. At the present he had just that sort of project, one that was quite important to him, and would have very well kept him in his room were it not for the fact that he had found himself dragged out bodily. The very last thing he wanted to do was leave home when he wasn't hadn't even finished one of the two earrings that he was making for Daelin. They were coming along well, the materials finally gathered, and all he wanted to do was work on getting them done. His older sister, who had responded to their invitation to return home, wasn't having it though. Apparently she seemed to think that 'fresh air' and 'a nice walk' were in order, something that was all but killing Bisera if the look on his face was any indication.
"Where are we going, Alanor? Is it far?" He asked, moving to follow along after her even though what he really wanted to do was turn on his heel to head home. He wouldn't though, knowing full well that she would catch him, she was far faster then Bisera was after all. No, he'd have to go with her, choose his moment, and then flee he decided as he trailed along after her.
His older sister turned to look Bisera's way, giving a bit of a sigh, "Bisera, it's nearing the Festival of the Firebird, and various merchants are gathering. I think it will be far more fun, not to mention far better for you, to come along with me as opposed to sitting about in your room." She scolded him, though in a manner that was more motherly then really angry, "Do you really think that it's healthy to stay in there day in and day out? What happens when the twins get older and can no longer be bothered to look after you?"
Bisera gave a thoughtful sound in his throat, then said, "I... don't know?" He really hadn't thought about it. He supposed he was just used to think how they were presently with Kin and Vanna bringing him dinner when he forgot to go and fetch it for himself. Shaking his head to clear the thoughts suddenly swirling around in his head, thoughts that were sort of getting his creative juices all stopped up, he asked, "So, you said something about a festival and merchants?" He really was out of the loop if it was already time for that particular festival and he wasn't even aware of it. Of course missing things due to his oblivious nature wasn't really out of the ordinary for him, was it? If one member of his family or another didn't remind him he'd like miss out on all the fun things that went on around him.
One day he really would learn to be better at balancing things in his life, his obsession with his work especially, but that day it seemed wasn't today. The look he got from his sister was one that included a lifted eyebrow, before she spoke again, "Yes, there are some merchants gathered, selling their wares in a big group, like they always do during festival times."
There was no better time then a festival for merchants to gather in droves to sell things, often times offering good prices given that there was so much in the way of competition. It was something that had him giving a thoughtful sound in his throat before he said, "Alright, I wouldn't mind looking around a bit." There was always a chance that one merchant or another would have some useful materials that he could buy off of them. He kept that part to himself though, not wanting his sister to know that even during a shopping trip that he was still being very single minded. It was just something that was really, really hard to turn off was all.
As they got closer to the gathering of merchants Bisera couldn't help but stare, "Wow, that's actually impressive." To see so many people gathered, a lot of them members of the Wind Tribe but not all of them, he found himself actually looking forward to wandering through to see what everyone was selling. He was glad that his sister had told him to grab what coin he had since he would have otherwise had to run home if he found something that he wanted.
Heading into the throng of merchants hocking their wares it wasn't long before Bisera had found some things that caught his eye. He got himself a small back of assorted stones, nothing rare but a lot of pretty ones, some metal wires, and a pair of capramel horns. All things that he felt were going to aid him in his craft. It would interesting to work with horns this big, cutting them down to size, shaping them right, it would be fun! Of course just as he was thinking that something else caught his eye, something that was beautiful beyond words. Turning slowly toward the merchant's stall he found himself starring at a trio of dark, glittering blue crystals that were sitting on a white cloth. The white cloth only seemed to make their dark color stand out that much more and without realizing it he was drifting over toward them, leaning over to inspect them, and then reached toward one of them... only to get a smack on the back of the hand.
"I know that they are something special but no touching." The man said, giving Bisera a smile, "These jewels are quite rare, the 'Eyes of Suharama' their called, and are something I was thinking of giving to the shamans as an offering during the festival."
The man's smile only seemed to widen though, "Everything is for sale though. If you were able to offer me something more interesting then the jewels I might consider letting them go." He offered Bisera, giving the young man his best salesman's smile, "Better hurry though, I won't be here forever." Words that sent Bisera running.

Part Two: Tinerr?
Bisera wasn't really sure what a good trade would for the 'Eyes of the Suhurama' but he went about gathering up everything that he had that he thought might be of value. He got various pieces of jewelry that he'd made, some of his rarer supplies, even considered using the gold bits that he'd gathered but decided against it. The gold he'd been able to pan from the river was for Daelin, he had promised him earrings, so that wasn't something he could give up. Everything else of value that he had though he gathered up, stuffing it into his pack, and started for the door to his room... and crashed headlong into his father.
The two of them exchanged a glance before Torin asked, "What are you doing, Bisera?" Noticing the full pack that he had as well as the mess that he'd left behind in his room. There was something about the way that his son was acting was a bit odd, not to mention it was a little out of character to see him moving at such a fast pace, "Are you alright, son?"
The blond nodded, "Yeah! Yeah, I'm alright. I saw something, a merchant had it, it's something that I really want to get! Oh, Dad, there were these three jewels, dark blue ones, the merchant called them 'Eyes of the Suruhama' and he said that anything was up for trade! If I get there quickly I should be able to trade him for them. There has to be something in my pack that the guy will want, right?" At least that was what he hoped for. He really wanted to get his hands on those jewels... though to be fair he'd be happy if he was able to even get one of them from the merchant. The crystal would make a rather beautiful piece or, with help from his father, he could split the crystal into more pieces so that he could make several pieces.
"I need to get going! I will try to be home as soon as I can!" He said, waving to his father, then rushed back in the direction that he'd come from not all that long ago. As he arrived though, back to the very spot where he'd left the merchant, he found that the man was no longer present. Was he moving about to sell his goods to the crowd? No, that wasn't good! What if someone else bought the trio of jewels before he was able to find the man again? He had said he was going to give them to some shamans, but he also said that everything was for sale. That meant that everyone, not just Bisera himself had a shot at the jewels. He just had to find the man.
It seemed that only after circling around the area a good half a dozen times did anyone really seem to notice what it was that he was doing. Him running around in such a manner finally catching the attention of one of the other merchants that was set up near to where the other man had been. She watched Bisera a moment before giving a whistle that caught the blond's attention, "If you're looking for Barrith he's no here any more, he packed up and headed for... Tinerr, I think? I can't say for certain though that is where he is, I just think that was what he said."
"Tinerr? That far? How long ago did he leave?" He might be able to catch the man that she'd called Barrith. Bisera didn't care for the fact that the man offered him a potential trade before just up and leaving and a part of him said that he shouldn't follow him. The man surely wasn't to be trusted after pulling such a stunt, right? At the same time though he couldn't get those jewels out of his mind, he wanted them, even if it meant chasing them down in a literal manner. If he moved fast he would surely be able to catch up with the man, right? A shame that he didn't know anything about Tinerr, didn't know the various ways to get there, and truth be told rarely left home. To travel so far was quite daunting, especially knowing that he might not even get the trio of jewels that he wanted.
He'd need to find Alanor, to chat with her, see if she knew how to get to Tinerr. It took some time to find her, precious time that allowed the merchant to get further and further away from her. Once he spotted her he rushed over to her, talking fast about what was going on, what he needed, and where it was that he wanted to go. It took a bit of convincing on Bisera's part before Alanor finally gave up the direction that Bisera wanted to go. It wasn't that she wanted to let him go but it was nice to see him looking so determined about something. Her brother tended to be so meek and quiet, was always holed up in his room working on one of his protects. To see him actually willing to run after something was a nice change of pace.
With her blessing Bisera was on his way, running off with a full pack toward Tinerr. He was determined to catch up with the merchant and at least have a chance to get the crystals, even if it took him on a longer journey then he'd ever gone on alone before.

Part Three: Finding Barrith
The journey to find the merchant that had wandered off wasn't one that was without incident. Bisera wasn't someone who'd gone out on the road before, not on his own at least, and when he did leave the house it was never all that far. A trip that would potentially take him all the way to Tinerr was something that was beyond anything that he'd done before in the past. As such he had a few problems here and there, such as finding himself on the wrong path at one point, not having nearly enough in the way of supplies like water, and his pack started to feel as though he were carrying around a capramel on his back instead of just a pack of various trade goods.
It was a rather exhausting trip, one that had Bisera sweating and panting a bit, but still he continued forward. He was trying to catch up with the merchant and if he took a break for anything, especially after he took those wrong turns, he was sure to lose the man for good. Losing him wasn't something that he could let happen! He couldn't just give up without even trying to trade with the man after all. He just had to catch up and he would at least have his chance. Even if there was no guarantee that he would get the 'eyes' but at least it would be a learning experience of sorts for him when it came to negotiations.
What felt like an eternity later he found himself in a place that he'd never seen before, a while new town, and he couldn't help to stare with rather wide eyes. Wow... a whole new town, one that was rather crowded too. People, mostly Wind Tribe, were gathering, and after a moment of starring with his mouth agape it clicked. Oh! Right, the festival celebrating the firebird, wasn't that was the man called Barrith was talking about? So many people had gathered here for the festival, something he realized that he's never been too. Sure, they had celebrated at home but they had never come to Tinerr for the celebration. At least he hadn't himself, he wondered if some of the others in the family, maybe his mother and older siblings, had come here before while Bisera and his father camped out at home.
Shaking his head, trying to focus, he set to searching once more for Barrith. If the man was here then that meant he might already be on his way to the shamans that he'd mentioned, he might already be going to give the 'Eyes of the Suharama' to them. If that happened, while a good offering to the firebird, meant that he wouldn't be able to get them. It was selfish of him, he knew that, going after something meant as an offering to those grand birds. Surely he must have something that would work as a good trade for the 'eyes', something that would still make for a good offering to the firebirds, right?
Turning to a nearby man he asked, "Have you seen a merchant named Barrith?" A question that was met with a shake of the man's head. He gave a sighing sound, then moved forward to ask the next person, getting a similar answer. It was after he'd asked a good dozen people that one of them pointed in a general direction saying that the 'merchants were that way'. It wasn't specifically Barrith that he'd found but at least it was a lead? A lead that might bring him to where Barrith was waiting and hopefully he'd find him before the 'eyes' were given away to the shamans or worse traded off to someone else.
Well, at least once he got to where the merchants were gathered he'd be able to get himself something to drink, something to eat, stuff to help him recharge after his long trek to this place. He was almost spent but he couldn't slow down, not yet.
A short time later he was walking into the area where the merchants were gathering, going to where one was selling food first. After getting himself a filled water skin and a cup of dehydrated fruit, nuts, and some sort of granola. After draining some of the water he put it into his pack, then walked along while eating out of the cup, finding the sweet and salty snack to be something that really hit the spot at the moment. Giving a happy sound the search continued, stopping only when he finally spotted Barrith. It was something that drew a squeak from Bisera before he hurried forward, gulping down the rest of his snack on the way.
Once he reached Barrith's side Bisera stood there with his cheeks stuffed with food, looking a bit like a greedy moracker, before he held up a hand to indicated that he needed a moment. A bit of time chewing later and he finally spoke, "The 'Eyes of the Suharama', do you still have them?" He asked, sounding both nervous and hopeful at the same time, all but holding his breath as he awaited the answer from the merchant.
To say the least the look on the man's face was one of pure shock, as though he didn't think that he would be seeing Bisera again. He'd left him behind after all, chalking him up to someone whose eyes were far bigger then their wallet, yet here he was. He gave a bit of a smile then motioned to him, "Seems that you were more determined then I first thought, alright then, young man, how about we sit down and talk shop?" The man motioned to him, over to an open spot where the two of them could sit down. Once they were settled down he reached into his pack, retrieving the brilliant white silk cloth, opening it up to reveal the jewels to Bisera, "These are what you're after, yes? Now, show me what you have to trade, let's see if your trip turns out to be worth while to us both."

Part Four: The Bargain
Opening up his pack Bisera set to work laying out everything that he'd brought with him, "I am learning under by father's direction how to become a jeweler like he is. I know that I am not where near as skilled as he is but I promise I won't waste the 'eyes'. I would only make the most beautiful pieces with them." He said as he showed off some pieces that he'd made, necklaces and bracelets mostly since those were the easiest to create given enough time. There were a pair of rings as well, though they were a little rougher in their appearance, "I am still learning when it comes to rings." He explained as the man started to pick up each piece, inspecting them very closely, assigning each piece it's own value in his head.
Bisera leaned forward, watching, his eyes wide, as the man went about his work in silence. He couldn't help but to squirm a little, having never had his work appraised in such a manner. The only one that looked the stuff over was his father and given that it was his father he wasn't as harsh as a merchant might be. What if the man wasn't interested? What if he decided that there was nothing at all that he had that was worth the price the man was asking for the trio of jewels? The moment that thought got into his head he started to fret, both over the quality of his pieces as well as the the possible loss of the eyes. He was so deep in his own thoughts that when the merchant cleared his throat that Bisera jumped.
"Well?" He asked, leaning forward a bit, waiting for some sort of reaction from the man that was sitting before him.
Barrith looked up at him, opening his mouth to speak, before he trailed off, "Hey, wait, what is that?" He asked, pointing to something shining from within Bisera's pack, something that the jeweler had forgotten about in his haste to lay out the pieces before Barrith.
The young man turned, looking into his pack, before he fished out what the man was motioning to, "These, they were a gift, a rare material for me to work with when i am feeling more prepared for using them. It's Gorororum Scale." He explained to the merchant, holding it out for him to see.
"Yes, they are taken from a creature found in the frozen lakes in Zena." The merchant said, looking the piece over, his eyes showing genuine interest after he looked it over from all angles, looking quite pleased with the quality of it. After a moment of inspection more he said, "This scale, along with two necklaces, and the braided bracelet with the green stones, those for one of the eyes." The man offered him, a steep price for a single jewel, one that left Bisera reeling a bit.
He looked down at the single 'eye' as the man picked it up, offering it to him, "I... just the one? What about the other two?" He asked, giving the other two blue gemstones a glance but the man seemed to be rather set on only giving up one of them. It was a difficult thing, did he really want to go along with that asking price? Was it too steep? He'd put a lot of work into the necklaces and the braclet and the scale was a gift for him to use in the future. At the same time he could make more jewelry and he had more of the scales. Did he want the jewel that much? He had never seen one like it before and one was better then none, he could make a beautiful piece out of it or carefully break it down to make multiple pieces, "It's a hard bargain." He murmured.
Turning back to his pack he said, "I can throw in something else for the other of the 'eyes', some raw materials, maybe? What about some uncut stones?" He dug around in his pack for a moment, then showed him some of the stones that he brought along, they weren't cut or ready to be set yet, but they were pretty nevertheless.
The man gave a thoughtful sound, reaching out to take the stones, and set to examining those next. After he went through each and every stone, the man gave another sound, humming thoughtfully. He picked out the stones that stood out to him the most value wise, returning the others to Bisera's hand, "Add in these stones, as well as the rest of the jewelry, those more roughly made rings included, and I supposed you can have them all." Barrith said it in such a manner that he made it see like he was doing Bisera a favor with the trade.
It made him still worry a little that he might be being swindled but at the same he wanted the three 'eyes' for himself. Even if he ended up getting the raw end of the deal he would have the trio of jewels and he could sure that they were added to only the most amazing pieces that he could create. He might even give one of the three to his father, to see what true skill could create using one of them as the focal point of the piece. Bisera drew in a deep breath, held it a moment, before letting it out slowly, "Alright, I'll make the trade them. Everything that you asked for in trade for the 'Eyes of the Suhurama'."
The man wrapped up the three jewels, offering them to Bisera, and said, "Here, I will even throw in the cloth for free." The merchant said, moving to pack up everything that he'd traded for the jewels, putting it away into his bag. Once that had been done, and once Bisera put the 'eyes' away, both rose up back to their feet. Barrith held a hand out to Bisera then, "You're new at your craft, I can tell, but once you have more experience we might be able to strike up a business arrangment between the two of us. You make pieces for me and I sell them to you, I will take a cut, of course, but we will both profit from it."
If I can give you a bit of advice? Get in more practice, work on your fine details, and keep growing as a craftsman. The more ornate and flawless you pieces become, the more people will want them. A reputation and repeat customers are something of great importance for someone like you, as well as when it comes to making coin. Have a good day and enjoy the festival...?"
"Oh! Sorry, my name is Bisera." He introduced himself, slinging his pack over his shoulder.
The man nodded, "It's been nice doing busness with you, Bisera. Just remember my name, Barrith, and come visit me again after you've made some new pieces and maybe we can talk." He said, lifting a hand to wave at him. With that the merchant was on his way, off to see what deals he could make with the various goods that he'd obtained from the jewler.
Bisera watched as Barrith went on his way, taking to heart what he'd said. He would need to head for home soon, get to work on practice and working on the 'finer details' as the man had suggested. More work alongside his father should help, more simple pieces made to practice being precise, and with time maybe he'd get that good reputation that Barrith suggested was so important. It was something he definitely wanted, it sounded as though it could be quite useful, not only to Bisera himself but to his family as well. If he was ale to bring in money it would mak it that much more comfortable for them.
That was a task for tomorrow though, for the moment he kind of wanted to do the other thing that Barrith suggested, that being enjoying the festival. As he headed on his way to do just that he found himself wondering something, something that he'd kind of been curious about for a while, did the Suhurama have three eyes? The man had named a trio of jewels after the eyes of the sacred bird, something that now made Bisera really want to meet with one of those birds just to find out.
