Rider/Handler (Delete as appropriate)
Name: R'oe (Roscoe)
Age: 29
Gender: Male
Sexual Orientation: Heterosexual
Rank:Wingrider
History:

Benden

Roscoe was bred and born in Benden weyr, although he was raised in the creche along with the rest of the weyrbrats Roscoe does know who his mother is as she happens to be one of the women who works in the creche. His mother has long told Roscoe that he is the product of a bronze rider, as she tells it he was created in the aftermath of a gold flight...but it seems to Roscoe that many of the creche children have simular stories and claims as to their parantage. That didn't keep him from mentioning it whenever he could of course and while he believes many of the other children are making things up....he fully believes his story to be true, he dosen't see any reason for his mother to lie after all.

Perhaps because of this assumed and self imagined birthright Roscoe has always been a very self assured youth and has swaggered about the weyr since he was old enough to understand his mothers stories. It was inevitable that he would stand for the first clutch he was able too and while several such clutches have come and gone since he came of age without a dragon choosing him Raoscoe is undeterred - he still has quite a few years to try and he'll patiently wait for his to be born.

After Benden (Trine)

In the aftermath of the revolution Roscoe likely would have perished fighting the revolutionaries if not for N'mols timely rescue, his friend showing up to whisk the injured Roscoe away from the fighting just in time. Trine was a completely different place then Benden and once recovered Roscoe found it hard to adapt - thankfully he found refuge with the many Benden refugees that now camped out at Trine and along with all of the others fiercely declared that they would win their home back.

But that revenge would be a long time in coming and in the meantime he would have to make due with Trine. Pitching in to help rebuild the damaged Weyr as well as ensure his Benden comrades had comfortable lodging Roscoe had to admit that although Trine's way's were different and peculiar the Weyr had none the less done its best by them. Before long Sunnath rose, a bit of a bittersweet flight as the Benden queen should rightfully have done so in her homeland but Roscoe, along with many other candidates stood before the eggs when the time came.

Impressing Jaggeth was an experience like no other, sure he had always assumed he'd get a bronze but a good sturdy brown was quite fine too and after meeting Jaggeth well, R'oe couldn't imagine life any other way. Jaggeth however was not nearly as keen towards fighting as his rider was, nor did he share his riders thoughts about atypicals. Through Jaggeth R'oe began to soften a touch, he was more open to those who rode atypicals..and maybe Trine felt just a little bit more like home as time went on.

That did not stop the pair from fighting for Benden and helping to end Keller's reign of terror when the time came however and although the Weyr was not repopulated after victory R'oe could rest easy at night knowing that at least it had been freed.

In the aftermath of the fighting R'oe and Jaggeth have had to come to terms with a more peaceful existence, and although war had been the only thing the brown had known he was keen to place their efforts towards more peaceful endeavors, fighting thread was enough of a fight for him thank you and no, he didn't really mind all the changes going on around them, what did he care who lead them? As long as they were a sensible sort. R'oe on the other hand had a more difficult time adjusting to the thought of following anyone other then a bronze and inwardly he still defers to the opinions and thoughts of the gold and bronze riders...even if outwardly he attempts to be seen as neutral in his thoughts.

R'oe fears however that this age of equality will end in ruin, not from war but because he honestly doesn't believe that the lower colors will be able to handle the burden of leadership, he fears that thread will start to tear apart wings led by greens and that clutches laid by crimsons will eventually lead to a weakening of dragons as a whole. Although he empathizes with those who want to be more then they are he believes this new way of doing things to be good hearted but misguided and is inwardly preparing for the eventual fallout it will cause.

Description:

Roscoe thinks that he's a rather handsome fellow - thats just another facet of his self confidence, and in truth he's not all that bad looking. it's unlikely that girls are lining up outside his room like he likes to say but that might have more to do with his personality then his looks. Roscoe is fairly trim and athletic (as all future dragon riders should be) even if he's a bit on the short side of things. It's unlikely that he'll even be able to lift the most weight in the Weyr but he can hold his own fair enough. His skin naturally boarders on what would be considered a dark tan which according to him goes well with his dark hair (kept short for ease of handling) and chocolate eyes. It's too bad the saying wasn't Short, dark & Handsome or Roscoe would have it made. Though as he will tell you he already does anyways.

He has a strong jawline which is good because the majority of his other features are kind of soft and it's likely he'd look a bit more feminine that he'd like if his strong jaw didn't save him, as it is he just looks a bit more like a pretty boy then a rough and tough weyrbrat.

Personality:

Roscoe's main goal in life seems to be making Benden look good, he is very proud of who he is and where he was born. Benden is quite frankly the only decent Weyr on Pern as far as he is concerned and since all those other weyrs continue to pollute their fighting strength with the Atypicals then there's very little chance that this is going to change anytime soon.Generally even tempered, temperamental outbursts are unseemly and certainly not the type of impression one wants to leave of his Weyr. Is fairly good natured among his fellow Bendenites but tends to quickly find fault with unseemly or childish behavior which he harshly reprimands.

He has no doubts that with Benden taking care of things even the approaching red star won't be much of a problem. Oh sure it will be dangerous but the Benden riders can handle it. If anything he might be a touch over confident which could lead him into trouble down the road as over confidence tends to lead to arrogance and arrogance never ends well for anyone.

Although typically a thoughtful type of person he tends to be a bit rash when it comes to anything that might make Benden look good or in correcting something that he thinks makes Benden look bad - this could possibly get him into trouble with his superiors once in a while since although he has Bendens best interests at heart sometimes reacting in the heat of the moment is not the best idea and once should consult with a superior first...something he tends to realize after the fact and generally apologizes for.

A bold type of person he is convinced that he generally has the right idea about how to handle any given situation...worse he also typically feels like he knows the best way that those around him ought to be acting and he tends to express those opinions in a not cruel..but certainly unmistakably chastising way.

He's not a very flexible person when it comes to world views, he's quite well entrenched into the Benden way of life and anything that differs from those ideals are to his mind...wrong. Although he would never say so out loud (for fear of hurting his weyrs reputation) He even has a hard time accepting the difference between hold and weyr life - something that can make dealing with fellow candidates who happen to come from holds a bit tense at times. As long as that holdborn is willing to work on accepting life t Benden Weyr however he can be supportive enough..he just won't hesitate to point out that such and such was a fact of said persons 'old life' and should be forgotten if it ever comes up.

Because he holds his own opinion in such high regard then he tends to be a fairly talkative person, expressing said opinion openly and honestly in any conversion, since he is not a stupid person however he rarely enters into an argument in which he feels he can't back up his opinion properly, deflecting such situations with an amused look and small off hand comment along the lines of 'You'll see differently soon enough' instead. He's a candid fellow, more then willing to share whatever life story he might have with those he's meeting, portraying himself to be an open book and while his frank nature might put some people off it might also be a bit refreshing since he'll be unlikely to ever lie to someone and can always be counted on to give his honest opinion of any situation.

Other:

Dragon
Name: Jaggeth
Age: 14
Colour: Brown
Description: Hatchling, JuvenileAdult
Size: Above Average
Build: Very Slim

Personality:

Jaggeth is a peaceful creature, generally enjoying a live and let live type of mindset, calm, collected and hard working he is quite likely the epitome of the brown stereyotype. A gentlemanly type brown he is often concerned with the needs and feelings of those around him and can be counted on to act as a sympathetic ear to anyone who might need one be they human or dragon. That is not to say of course, that Jaggeth cannot fight, merely that he only chooses to do so when he must. Despite this quiet sweet nature when at peace this brown is nothing short of predatory when a threat is exposed..Jaggeth is willing to let you live in peace, no matter what you think, what you are or how you behave...as long as you extend him and his the same courtesy. When one becomes a threat, all bets are off and he fights with an intense focus that can be hard to break, his rider will have to be strong willed enough to know when to call it quits and make Jaggeth listen as he'll continue on until he quite literally drops from the sky.

Around the ladies Jaggeth delights in being a Knight in shining Armour, attracted to the more timid and peaceful of his brethren it's unlikely this brown will try to chase a fierce queen or fiery crimson..even a more spitfire green will likely turn him off, but show a softer side and he'll almost certainly be smitten when the time comes. Almost incapable of carrying a grudge Jaggeth seems to forget slights almost as soon as the incident is over with..but soft spoken words or acts of mercy stick with him for quite a while and he'll demand that his rider behave in a suitable fashion - defend your friends when necessary but live in peace and be happy. Jaggeth has a special love for healers and in his off time it probably won't be unusual to find this brown visiting the wounded or lounging about the healer tents thrumming a soothing tone to those languishing inside. He dosen't mean to be a pest about it but it might seem that way sometimes, he's a follower not a leader however and when told to go by anyone in authority he'll almost certainly retreat with an apologetic rumble without a fuss.

Why Me?Jaggeth is just what Roscoe needs to move on in his life, he will help blunt the edges of Roscoe's prejudices. Under his blunt demeanor Jaggeth knows that Roscoe has a good heart and this brown is determined to bring it out in him. The fact that Roscoe is so willing to be sociable (even if its only to voice his opinion) and stick up for what he believes in are strong points according to Jaggeth. Likewise Roscoe will likely find his browns typically sweet and helpful demeanor to be pleasing, certainly it's unlikely that Jaggeth will ever do anything to make them look bad and that's important to Roscoe.

Both are good, steady and hardworking, willing and capable of following orders and getting the job done no matter the obstacles in their path. Jaggeth is just what Roscoes needs to get over the prejudices instilled in him by his upbringing and the anger brought forth in the uprising, Jaggeth will help and allow Roscoe to move forward and adjust to a Bendenless life.
