A certain manx cat had been known to slip through a particular neighborhood, even after a certain little orange haired girl had left for a while. Even though the cat knew the circumstances to the child's disappearance, it didn't mean she couldn't be optimistic and keep lingering around just in case.
The tailless cat's persistence paid off, and one day as she was passing through, she saw a familiar head of orange hair, though the girl wearing such a thing had grown a bit taller than she was used to.
Without hesitation, ********* cleared her busy schedule in a split second to make time for this girl. From the opposite side of the driveway, the chubby cat scampered forward, grinning from ear to ear. She held back any urges to cry out the child's name, but she let out the loudest, please meowing sound that she could.

The first to notice the meow was probably the least ideal for the small feline, probably the most annoying too. But the small cry had been a trigger for the Pendergast household dog and the realization there was another cat outside (not inside and not theirs) sent Dodger into a barking frenzy. Thankfully there was a fence between the two creatures, keeping the canine confined to the back yard, but it didn't stop the beagle from pressing himself up against it and squeezing his nose through the planks of wood.
Barking ensued for a good two minutes (with another dog in the neighborhood joining in) before someone stepped in. Ridley's father Jasper was the first to investigate and attempt to get the dog to quiet down (futile at best). The large man peered over the fence to see what had brought this fit up and simply narrowed his eyes at what he saw.
Though he didn't exactly know who ********* was, or even what exactly, the small cat still seemed familiar to him. He had seen her skulking around the neighborhood for the past few years really but never really figured out who is had belonged to. But why it had decided to stop and meow in his drive way... well, maybe he could fathom a guess....
"Ridley!" He called towards the house, even before he reached the door to return into it.

The dog's barking was indeed something that had startled the manx, her fur puffing up. She knew Dodger well enough, but that didn't make it any less of a surprise when he started to carry on like this was the first time they had ever met.
Her fur eventually settled back down into a more restful place, and the tailless cat eventually began to pace back and forth by the fence where the dog was.
It was once Ridley's father had checked up on things that the feline stood up on her hind legs, pressing her forepaws against the fence and stretching as tall as she could get, facing the man. Clearly, speaking to him was out of the question, but she trilled out a cutesie mewing sound.
Clearly he understood, for the next thing she knew, he was calling for who she had been waiting for.
In a display of excitement, she seemed to bounce back to the ground with her forepaws, then ran in a couple excited circles.chirigami Sorry for the delay, Gaiamons ate my soul <3 Poke me on AIM when you tag this please <3

The last thing Jasper noticed about the cat was the odd little star shape on its forehead. As he had only seen the cat from a distance for those few years, it wasn't something obvious to him. It could have been a spot for all he knew. But it was a star. Clearly. He wasn't going to question it, much less give it another thought. Was it one of Ridley's - no, no thinking about it. He was just going to go back into the house.
The door never had the chance to click close before it was swung wide open again and another figure bounded out. It was hard to tell who it was because of the height of the fence, but a voice was well enough to ring forwards. "Jeeze, shut up Dodger." The latch of the fence was clicked and Ridley maneuvered herself out as quickly and carefully as she could. Least not to allow the dog to follow.
She spun around quickly, her eyes wide and almost twinkling with joy. The girl was just a little bit taller, a little more filled out after those three years. A slight tan graced her skin and her hair was a little different than her usual signature look; the loops were still there but now instead of braids, there were long strands. A tween was in her midst but that didn't mean she wasn't overjoyed to see a feline. And not just any feline. "*********!" She called out, going instantly to her knees to scoop the cat in her arms.
