They had survived.
Yuki was barely able to comprehend the events leading up to the present, where he gazed out over the bright blue sky and rich green hills. It would all sink in, he was sure. The obvious, and most important fact, was that they were alive. Not just him, but those he'd come to know and care for within his time in Camelot.
He knew now that they were the only ones that he had left in that world, and most of them had chosen to stay in Avalon. His old life was gone, and save for his experiences of the heart, Yuki couldn't say he missed it.
He drew in a slow, deep breath. Then let it go.
Still, he couldn't throw away his memories of her and he wouldn't wish to. Riley, however, needed to know that he hadn't always been alone.

She could hear him calling. He wanted protection, and it was a duty that would last a lifetime. She heard it singing through her entire body, and it excited her. She was right all along, in the end. As hard as Merlin had tried to destroy their world, they had persevered. He was trapped, and the being that held him captive would do so for eternity, with their help. She stumbled, desperate to take her place among those who would protect the world for all time. The grass beneath her bare feet felt like heaven. Her hands clasped against her heart as she looked at their new world, rife with life and beauty. Noemi and Milo and Jason were all here, not so far away, but closer still was Yuki, waiting for her. She took her time, twirling around and around as her arms flung out into the air. "I always believed." She whispered up into the sky, to anyone who could hear her. "And I always will." Her twirls stopped just short of Yuki, where she clasped her hands in front of her again and brightened up with a giddy, almost childish grin. "Safe." She told him. "Alive. And home." They had done all they set out to do, and more. "I never gave up hope."

He'd known she was there, perhaps because of her soft whisper, or perhaps just because he sensed her presence near.
Yuki turned, away from the expanse of lush grasses and clear sky, the smile he already wore widening at the sight of Riley as she danced in the sun toward him. Like a good spirit that had finally been set free.
Not willing to let her stand alone, even only a few short feet away, he closed the distance between them and wrapped his arms around her middle and hugged her against his chest.
"It's even better than we could have hoped for, isn't it?" He said, really more a statement than a true question. "We still serve, in a different manner, but we're free now."

She fell against his chest when he held her, all of her weight now his burden, if only to be closer to him. Her hands wrapped around until they were lost and unseen in his hair, playfully stirring within the dark lengths. "It's perfect." She breathed out, bending in with a grin and kissing the tip of his nose. "And it will be perfect. It's like a dream, one which I never want to wake up from." They were free to be together, with their friends and family and each other, and they would serve as the protectors of a legacy made to save their world. There was nothing more she could have asked for - And as soon as she thought it, she realized that wasn't exactly true, but she bit her tongue because her joy was extracting thoughts from her that were meant for the future. She shouldn't think of such things now. As if on cue, her cheeks flushed with embarrassment, and she reached out to adjust his collar to perfection. She bent in to kiss the neck that craned exposed from that collar, just as he had done to her before Merlin had crumbled. "So." She whispered against his skin. "What should we do first?"

Her weight was far from burdening him, his stance shifting only slightly to support them both. A little chuckle escaped him, a kiss put to her forehead after she'd put one to his nose. Then, a second later, to her lips properly.
"You're blushing," he noted needlessly, one hand coming to her cheek and his thumb brushing over the flush of her skin.
Letting his head tilt back just slightly as her lips brushed over his throat, he made a little sound in his throat that might have warned of a less than serious response before he even gave it. "I can think of a few things..."
But it was only fair, to the woman in his life now and the one who had been before, that he didn't hide his life or love from her.
"I'd like to share some of my memories with you, love... If you still wished to hear them." Yuki offered softly, "I'd like to know more about you as well, if you would like to share your own memories with me."

"Of course I am." She whined out against the skin of his neck, the feel of her lower lip jutting out evident. "This is your fault. You can't point it out every time you make me blush, you'll be doing it a million times a day and I will die." Her arms wrapped tighter around him, and she pulled her head back when he finally offered to share. "Nothing would make me happier. Walk with me, into the sanctuary. We can explore our new home. There's much to do, much to find. But perhaps most importantly, much to share." She peeled herself away from him slowly, reluctantly. Her hand remained firmly intertwined in his, however, tugging him forward. She wanted to see every inch of their new home, and all they were now tasked to protect.

Yuki made a show of lifting his brows in surprise, even if she wasn't in a position to see it. "Die? Well, we certainly can't have that... I'll be nice." His arms were wrapping lovingly around her shoulders, then, hugging her against him tightly as her own arms around him did the same.
He moved with her, smile ever present, fingers intertwined as she pulled away from their embrace and they began walking toward the castle.
"Maybe we'll get our look around before the others, and claim the biggest room for ourselves." He teased as they went, making a gesture with his free arm of something massive.
