It was fairly easy for Callum to travel across Jauhar when he applied the right amount of charm. Most travelers were content enough to let him walk along with them so long as he kept his questions at a distance, and his dancing at the forefront. Spending his days cooped up with his grandmother wouldn't do for the nomadic hybrid, nor would it work if he spent all of his time with his friends. So it came to be that Callum found himself in Neued, on the borders edge, watching a bard's performance.
The gangly youth tapped his feet to the chipper music, clapping along as professional dancers plied their trade. It took everything in him not to join them, but this...this wasn't just some shoddy performance an amateur might do for his friends. This was the real deal! And they had an audience so thick that it was nearly impossible to get to the dancers in the center anyway. It was why Callum was on the fringes, standing up on a cart just to see. His pouch bounced against his hip and it's full weight caused him to dip every so often.

Groups of people watching a performance were always easy targets for the thief. While they were distracted by the music, Xariy could easily slip up behind them and snatch what they had before they even realized it! Oh she just loved how unaware others were. It made her job so much easier. Dancing along in the crowd, Xariy tried to find a good target. There were just so many options to choose from, but as she scanned the crowd she knew just who she would go after. A handsome youth with a full pouch stood on a cart trying to see, and while he was on the fringe of the crowd he seemed very engrossed in the performance. It was perfect. While most thought her methods to be dangerous, Xariy enjoyed the hunt and toying with her target. She didn't just steal and run away. She talked to them and flirted with them mercilessly until they either wanted to give her something or it was easy enough to just take it. That's what she planned to do with him. Making her way over to where he stood on the cart, she smiled up at him and gave him a once over. He was a hybrid, interesting to say the least. "Well aren't you a cute thing. Enjoying the performance I see?" Xariy practically purred at him, trying to be as charming as she could be.

Callum paused in his unconscious swaying, clapping along with the tune, to look over at the girl who had addressed him. And what a girl! He had never seen an Oban up close before, just from a distance, and that was when he lived in Sauti.
He wasn't dumbstruck for long. His shifting gaze had darkened into a day time hue, and softened as he smiled. "The energy here is fantastic, though... it's not nearly as captivating as you." Callum bent down and held his hand out to the stranger. "Come up here with me; you can see the dancers better from here."
She was as sweet as she was bold. Callum found that kind of thing admirable. Of course, in his naivete, he hadn't thought of her using it to steal from him. "Do you live around here?"

Oh the poor boy was far too kind, and very obviously flirting with her. She quite enjoyed that fact. Taking his hand, Xariy nimbly climbed up onto the cart to stand beside him. Even while being younger than her, he was definitely taller. Not by much, but just enough for her to really lean against him without bumping uncomfortably against him in any way. The performance was still going on, and with the company she had as well as the atmosphere she felt like stealing from him so soon would kill the mood. She would wait and talk to him a bit first. "I don't live around here. I just sort of travel wherever my feet decide to take me. It's a lot of fun and there's so much freedom in getting to go wherever I want to without dealing with too many problems." she explained to him, her swaying causing her hip to bump against him as she spoke.

Callum put his arm around the woman's waist reflexively. He gave little thought to personal boundaries and acted on an unconscious instinct to insure her safety. The cart may have been stable, but it was a small, mobile platform above an area of solid ground that gave him little comfort.
As she spoke a noticeable light came about Callum. His gray eyes that were already so energized by the performance practically came alive. "I very much envy the ease with which you travel." The very way in which she spoke of the nomadic lifestyle he wanted filled him with a wondrous envy. "When I was younger my family rarely stayed in one area for too long. It's nice to meet with a fellow traveler, and such an exotic one at that."
With her hip against his Callum was both hyper aware of being so close to a pretty girl, and yet unaffected by it. "Would you...want to dance with me?"

"Dance? Well of course," Xariy smiled sweetly at him, snaking her arm around his shoulders. "Anything for a cute guy like yourself. It'll be fun." He was a very attractive hybrid, and she did enjoy dancing. Why not let herself relax and have some fun instead of constantly being on the prowl for once? Besides, if she really wanted to steal from anyone, she could always do it later when everyone was asleep or partying. Lots of drunk people meant the jackpot for her. People always lost things when they were drunk. Maybe the boy could even direct her to good loot. "So sweetheart, what's your name?"

Callum gave her a winning smile. He moved his legs around in a semi-circle, guiding her with him. What had started as slow movements for Callum quickly picked up in a more vibrant dance.
The cart moved a little underneath them, but he wasn't concerned. If it were going to turn over it would have done so already. "Callum." He answered easily. Even when he moved away from her in the dance, he always returned to the close contact. "What's yours?"
He hadn't been able to dance in so long that all of his pent up energy seemed to come out at once. The last time he had attempted it with a partner her husband had chased him off with an axe. That was a lesson Callum was not eager to repeat.

"Well since you're just so cute I guess I could tell you," she grinned, matching his steps as they danced. While she wasn't the best of dancers, she did know how to move at least a bit. It helped that she tried to keep herself nimble being a thief and all. A clumsy thief was a dead thief, and she didn't want to be that. Luckily keeping up with it made her look somewhat competent at their dance. While this hadn't been her plan, it was safe to say that she was thoroughly enjoying herself. Callum was a good dancer and attractive company, and she was sure she'd never be able to find someone like him while she was traveling around Oba. Everyone there was too.....well stuffy to her. Everyone she'd interacted with there had been too stern or just very focused on honor and the military and blah blah. Nothing she was interested in. "My name is Xariy, and it's a pleasure to meet you," she bowed, grinning at him as she stood back up. Painted Moose I am the worst. Sorry this took so long. Just let me know if you'd like to keep this going or not! I understand if you don't want to.

OpticPeach Sorry it took me so long to respond! I got a new job and I've been trying to adjust. xD "A compliment from such a beautiful woman? I must be blessed." Callum grinned. As the song changed, there was a lull in his performance that was only accelerated once a new tune began. He moved his hips, dipping into areas of the cart that might have thrown his partner off balance. Of course, that didn't stop the cart from tilting, but that just made Callum tighten his hold on his partner.
"Xariy? I like it. It's exotic, like you."

Callum really was a charmer. She had fully intended on stealing from him, but his carefree attitude had halted those plans. She really was a sucker for wind boys of any type. Continuing her dance with him, she easily kept her balance on the cart even while it began to shake. A thief with no balance would've been a sad thief indeed. "Exotic, huh? I suppose so," she smiled, pleased with the compliment. "You're pretty exotic yourself. I like it."

“Oh yeah? Hopefully by the end of this dance you’ll still find me as exotic, or maybe, something a little more relatable.” If only the music could have continued. As it was the performers were winding down, pulling out the final melodies before calling an end to their production. Callum knew the signs all too well.
Still, Callum wasn’t ready to give up and let things die out so easily. He spun Xariy into a dip, then looked into those lovely, scarlet eyes. One hand continued to hold onto her hand while the other had moved to brace her back. “I’d rather like it if you considered me a new friend. I certainly wouldn’t mind getting to know you better.”

"Mmmmm...I'm always up for new friends, especially when said friend is such an exciting individual," Xariy chuckled, enjoying the position she was in. Callum was grace and beauty while she was something a bit more sinister. It was an interesting mix with the two of them, and their dance moves while different had fit together into something all the more entertaining. She hoped others had been watching to see how great they were. If nothing else Xariy did so love to show off sometimes. "Now that our dance is over I'm not sure there's much else to do though, unless perhaps you have a plan?"Painted Moose /cries work has devoured my life I'm sorry for slow replies.

She was definitely a spicy handful, and one that Callum was glad to have met. He wasn't even aware of the fact that maybe others had been watching until the sound of clapping was much closer than it had been earlier. Looking up he noticed that a few members of the crowd had turned, and even one of the dancers themselves gave the pair a bow.
He just grinned and pulled his partner into an upright position. "I would suggest getting something to drink, perhaps even a bite to eat, before we think of more entertaining activities."

Xariy honestly hadn't realized how hungry she was until Callum mentioned getting something to eat. The dancing had taken a lot more out of her than she thought would, but she didn't regret it for a second. It had been a nice and entertaining experience, but now she was definitely all for the idea of getting food. Perhaps a good drink as well to sate her thirst. "That does sound like an excellent plan. After all the energy we've used up a good meal would do us both nicely."
