 If everything went well tonight, this could be their first date. Friendly lunches didn’t count. They’d been lovely, of course, but this was the real deal. This was night time at a nice restaurant, a table for two by the window. Mossflower had already arrived and been seated and now she waited, refusing to acknowledge the butterflies in her stomach. Belldandy was lovely. In the last few weeks their friendship has blossomed and Mossflower had realized she’d wanted something more than just that. It seemed so strange to even want to fit in a real relationship to her busy life but she couldn’t deny the way she felt. It was exhilarating. Whether Belldandy felt the same way was an entirely other matter.

Belldandy had never felt so grown up then this moment. Here she was, freshly primped and going out at night to meet a friend for dinner. There was a slight bounce in her step as she rounded the corner and came up to the restaurant. She immediately spotted Mossflower in the window and waved before pulling opening the door to the eatery. "Hi Moss!" she said softly as the waitress showed her their table. "Oh I'm not late am I?" the idea suddenly invaded mind and she started to look distressed she'd kept the other mare waiting.

"Not at all," Mossflower said swiftly and smoothly, as if she’d already anticipated that particular distress. She’d stood as soon as Belldandy had arrived, moving in to give the other mare a friendly kiss on the cheek. "I only just arrived and made myself comfortable. I hope you don’t mind." Pulling back Belldandy’s chair, she ushered her over to take a seat and then also sat, smiling warmly at her companion. "I’m so glad you could make it. This restaurant has some lovely reviews."

"No!" she visibly relaxed. "I mean, no I'm glad you were able to get comfortable. I'm glad I didn't keep you waiting." she got comfortable in her chair herself, glancing around the place. It was indeed a nice, fancy place, it seemed the kind of establishment her parents would come to. "I'm..really happy you invited me!" "Does it?" Bell fumbled with her menu a bit, unsure of what to get. "H..have you been here before? Do you know what's good?"

"No, I haven’t but I did check the reviews and my older brother came here with his husband last week," Mossflower replied as she also looked through the menu. It was a short list with an emphasis on fresh ingredients from local farms. "The zucchini flower entrée sounds lovely though. So does the mushroom risotto." As she read, she peeked a look over the top at Belldandy and smiled happily.

"Zucchini..flower.." Bell glanced over her menu, getting increasingly intimidated by some of the fancy sounding names. "I think I'd have that." She started to cast her mind back to if she'd ever had zucchini and if she had, did she like it? Putting her menu down, she watched Moss, and blushed a little when she smiled. Moss was so nice, she'd never met another phony like her ever. She never made her feel silly for nervousness or shyness. She never tried to make her do things that she wasn't ready for. She was her first real friend. "How..how uhm..is that nest of starlings doing?"

"I think you’ll really enjoy it," Mossflower encouraged. The mention of the starlings lit her face up even further, the words rolling out in a delighted rush, "oh so very good. They are all feeding well, I haven’t lost even one. With luck I’ll be able to release them all into the wild once they are grown. Though Pudge will definitely go first, he’s the biggest of the lot and very healthy. He’s very cute. Maybe you’d like to meet them sometime?"

Bell was so engrossed in Mossflower's excitement that it took a moment or ten for her to register the question. "What? Uhm..oh..Oh!" she sat back in her chair a little with the realization that she'd never been to Moss's home before even though they've spent a lot of time together. "Oh I don't know what to do with birds..." she trailed off. Well that wasn't entirely true. "Well..I mean..sometimes some birds seem to like the higher pitch notes on my flute but I don't particularly know if Starlings are those types of birds." She sounded sad when she said that as she felt bad she didn't know. "That's a stupid thing to feel bad about!" the little voice in the back of her mind chided her. It'd been quietly recently as she spent time with Moss. "If anything you should feel bad for worrying about such a dumb thing! I don't know Mossflower can stand you." it huffed.

“You wouldn’t have to do anything with them.” Mossflower laughed. “But I’m sure they would love to hear you play your flute. I know that I do.” She could already imagine Belldandy in a field somewhere, playing a gentle tune, surrounded by the wild birds that come to listen. Like some sort of fairytale princess. The waiter came back and she ordered for the both of them, after a quick glance at Bell to make sure that was okay. The food arrived promptly, interrupting another gush about her starling hatchlings. “It all looks so good. Tuck in!”

Bell stared at her dish. It was fancily made and arranged and looked almost too nice to eat. She'd seen dishes like these when she was out with her parents and had always been reluctant to eat such a nice arrangement, leading to cold food. Luckily, salads didn't get cold. She took first bite. "Mmm! It's good!" Of course it was, Moss had great taste. Digging into her meal, she happily chirped without much forethought. "I like being with you so much, every day I see you is a wonderful time!" Another bite. "I wish this could be everyday." Ruriska Forward on Bell/Moss! So sorry for the delay!

It really was delicious and Mossflower was glad Bell agreed. She was halfway through the dish when the other Phony said those fateful words. Her heart skipped a beat but she continued eating, not saying anything other than talking about how lovely the food was, until their plates were clean. “Well,” she said finally, not sure whether to take the plunge or not. She didn’t want to make their dinner awkward halfway through but Belldandy had given her an opening and it felt right to take it now. It was just a matter of taking it slowly. “This could be every day. I like being with you too. You’re my best friend and I’d even like to be even more than a friend, if that’s what you wanted too.” Mossflower smiled hopefully at Belldandy. Best friends, that made Bell so happy but Moss had persisted on. More than a friend? She pondered what the other meant for a moment before it hit her. Oh. Oh! Ohhh... Even if the white unicorn had a poker face, there would be no way to hide the shade of strawberry she was turning. "W..with me?!" she gulped out. She'd honestly never even considered the idea and somehow had it in her mind that she had a boyfriend already. Had they even discussed anything like that previously? Bell couldn't think straight, just blush harder. "I didn't think..I didn't know you thought of me like that! I..I..with me?" Ruriska 404 Error. You broke her. lol

Mossflower had expected a less than coherent first response but it was still slightly alarming because she just wasn’t sure if Belldandy’s stammering, blushing confusion was an ‘I’m sorry but no’ or ‘I could feel the same way’. “Yes, with you,” she said, firmly, deciding to stick to it. She was putting all her cards on the table and if it didn’t work out, at least she’d tried. “I think you’re sweet and kind and beautiful, more so than anybody else I’ve met and if you’d let me be with you every day, I-I would be honoured.” Astraea Pandora (getting back on track!) uh oh *presses restart button*

"Yes." Whoops, that came out without Bell thinking about the word. It felt like it was the right thing to say, the thing that everything inside her was already shouting anyway. Her huge blue eyes blinked as she realized she'd agreed and she suddenly started to panic. Had she said yes too fast? Was that ok? Ok ok ok deep breath. She inhaled and exhaled slowly. "I mean..yes, I think, I would like that too. To be with you everyday. Uhm, if that's ok."

Yes.Mossflower’s heart was beating in her chest like a drum. "Of course it’s okay," she said, breathing out the words with something similar to awe. She loved and would be loved in return. This feeling was unlike anything she’d ever experienced before, it was so warm and overflowing. "I would like that very much."
