 Having two sisters as.... exuberant as Nightshade's was a very good reason to find excuses to go get himself a little lost now and again. It was not that he did not love them, for he truly did as much as they endeavored to make his young life difficult, but a young colt could only take so much hoofpolish and pushing pillows to catch falling fillies until he sorely needed a break. A comfortably overcast day was a perfect time for a walk, just enough n** in the air to keep from getting warm as he wound through streets and fields and wherever else his hooves decided to take him.
He would have very much liked to continue to wander, but the heavy clouds were slowly deciding they were done being so melancholy during an otherwise very lovely late spring week, and a soft sprinkling heralded the decision. And given that he cannot stop the weather, he would have very much liked to go straight home to keep from getting far too wet, but unfortunately it seemed like that was also very much out of the question.
It was an odd noise that caused the colt to stop, hooves placed against a garden fence so he could crane his neck up and see what was going on the other side.

 A storm was brewing. Sugar Petal had been planning to nap after a long day out in the sun, but the sound of the radio announcing this evenings forecast had caused her to grab her rain coat and head out. Her newest plants were too young to handle such a storm, and Sugar Petal didn't have enough allowance to replace them or purchase the tools needed to help encourage them to recover. She needed to work, and fast!
"Okay guys. We're going to move.... move this over... over here." Her voice was faint and distracted as she mumbled to her plants, hooves tugging on a cover she was fastening to rods, concentrated humming breaking her mumbles time to time. Frustration surfaced when her stand of long hair flipped out and twined around a rod, causing the cover to slip free and a low whine to escape her.
Her head raised when she spotted a dark color nearby, jumping slightly once her eyes landed on another foal. Oh! How long had he been standing there? Flushing as she realized he probably heard her muttering to her plants, the filly pushed back hair with her elbow. "Oh, hello. Are you here for one of my siblings, or...?"

Well that had been funny, but Nightshade knew better than to laugh at someone having a hard time, no matter how funny an antic may be. He absolutely knew what was okay to do, and the colt smiled down at the struggling filly.
“I don’t know who your siblings are, sorry. Do you need any help getting the cover up?” The wind was picking up, and Nightshade was entirely willing to admit that he wouldn’t have been able to get a proper cover over plants in such conditions. Together though? It should be a piece of cake! Or, at least, slightly less than impossible. They were only two babbens after all.

Normally she wasn't one for small talk, but she perked right up at the offer to help. Yes, she would love that! None of her siblings were home and her parents were far too busy to help. The storm would wipe out some of her younger plants if she didn't get this up in time. Gratitude slipped over her face as she shifted to the side, nodding.
"Yes, please." She wasn't sure if two babbens were enough, but she was willing to try!

"Then it's settled." The colt smiled against the wind, dropping out of view behind the fence. Only a few soft thumps were there as warning before Nightshade came sailing over the fence, landing... well, not entirely elegantly, but smoothly enough not to look like an idiot, catching his feet under him before he could right himself up. Good to know he inherited some of batmom's physical abilities when it came to agility things like this. (Constantly having to chase Laby around helped with that sort of thing, too.)
The little colt didn't delay, clever eyes sweeping over the state of the filly's garden. Not too bad, yet, but the the little plants would be torn right out with this kind of wind. Nightshade didn't delay in grabbing the edge of the cover she had been fighting with, teeth clamped against the material and grunting as he struggled to pull it close enough to the rods so she could secure it.

It'd be a lie to say Sugar Petal didn't expect him to fall face first in the mud. She knew a certain sibling who would, even. Yet, there he was, soaring over the fence like a gazelle. Her eyes widened in awe before she quickly smashed the idea of someday trying to mimic the feat. No, Sugar Petal, you could not fly over a fence. She'd ruin her garden trying.
As he struggled with the cover she scrambled closer, immediately getting to work securing the corner as he held it in place. It took quite some fumbling, but eventually she let out a relieved sigh. One down, three more to go.
"Thank you." She called as she trotted over to the other edge, finally actually getting a chance to look up at the other phony. "What's your na- OOOF - me." The cover smacked Sugar Petal right in the face, leaving a bright mark on her nose. Scuffing, she yanked the corner down, pulling at it to one of the free rods for her partner to secure.

Polite little colts did not laugh when someone got smacked in the face with a tarp. He snickered only a little bit. He did feel bad for her, truly, but it was also quite funny. Also, he wasn't the most polite of colts. He just pretended to be.
"Nightshade!" He called out over the growing storm, dashing to the filly's side to secure that corner down for her. With two edges down against the whipping wind, getting the other two would be easier, able to grab and pull one of the free edges solo and have enough concentration left to use his magic to tie it off.
"I really like your garden- though I imagine it would be nicer when not in the middle of a storm!" He laughed, shaking wet hair out of his eyes.
