Bad news all around for SNME. Ratings were SUPER low and there is only one more confirmed SNME which is confirmed for July. Perhaps we have seen the beginning and end of SNME. Here is the inside news on the failure of SNME:

The Fast National rating for WWE's "Saturday Night's Main Event" came in below a 3.4 last night (specific numbers were not available at press time), indicating that wrestling's presence on a major network did nothing to revitalize interest in the product.

According to Nielsen Media Research, NBC's two hours of wrestling caused the network to place last among the four channels offering national programming Saturday night.

The professional wrestling industry was looking for a significantly higher number, going as far as to suggest that anything below a 5.0 would be a disappointment.

While those within the TV industry had lower expectations, the score is also below those estimates and does not create an optimistic outlook for future WWE programming on NBC (outside of the confirmed summer SNME).

WWE sources will likely attribute the low rating to the NCAA tournament, but even then, the company will not be able to spin this as great news

What do you think about this news? What do you think happened to make SNME flop in such a huge way? Please discuss your feelings.

I'm sure it was because many people forgot about the event. I almost forgot too, I missed half the show.

Now the WWE has an idea of how hard it is to get ratings on Saturday....

Don't think they did a good job of marketing the event nor did they really give anyone a reason to tune in. They treated it like an interbrand episode of Raw...Next time they need to look at it like a big PPV. It's their chance to draw in fans who wouldn't normally be watching.

I really enjoyed Saturday Night's Main Event. I thought the WWE took the NBC ball and ran well with it. This was a fun show. The set and the honoring of the oldschool graphics was spectacular. Matchwise, Michaels vs. Shane McMahon was good for a hardcore match. I do sincerely hope that Shane McMahon doesn't get full of himself from this one match and start wrestling on a regular basis again. It usually happens... I have to wonder, however, that with the Survivor Series screwjob finish at the end, how much will that please incoming Hall of Famer, Bret Hart? Imagine if he cancelled because of that? I liked the spot where Shane missed the McMahon Terminator and hit Vince McMahon instead. I'm willing to bet that Rob Van Dam and Shane McMahon will wrestle in the future...

The Main Event vs. Main Event match didn't live up to much, but expectations should be low when you have Wrestlemania opponents tagging up with each other. The WWE finally pulled the trigger on Mickie James turning on Trish Stratus. It's pretty funny how the WWE is pushing a lesbian obsession with that angle. The Boogieman has an upcoming movie coming out called "Slither". Gotta say, how about them headlights on Sharmell Sullivan last night... I really enjoyed hearing the 3 man team of Jim Ross, Tazz, and Jerry Lawler. Ross was every bit as good as before, while a 3 man team works when two guys are in-ring experts. It doesn't work, however, with Johnathan Coachman, who knows zero about wrestling other than what's been spoonfed to him while on the job. Very relaxing commentating team to listen to.

The beer drinking contest was goofy, as expected. Anybody want to bet how many more appearances that Steve Austin will make, besides Wrestlemania 22, for 2006? I think Saturday Night's Main Event will be appealing to him, but other than that, I don't know... I am CRINGING at the fact that Mark Henry and the Undertaker are wrestling a casket match at Wrestlemania. Who in the hell even remotely thought that was a good idea?

I liked it too, I really sorta knew what was gonna happen though so it was kind of predictable but all in all, it was pretty good. I personally liked the how they managed to hold the hardcore match and the superplex off the ladder to the table to the outside was really really innovative in my book. One thing I didn't get was why they promoted it like a pay-per-view to start off with.

Hmm well lots of people have lives on Saturdays, but apparently not me. haha but it was good except for Booker pulling off that crap that he does. He needs to stop being a whimp and face the boogyman.

Same here. sweatdrop But I think maybe Boogeyman
needs some action, besides scaring the s**t out of
people, it's the same thing, over and over.

I phoned two of my friends to tell them what channel
it was. They thought it was a PPV.>.<
