It was a clear night, and Hyakutake found herself waiting for Kells at the fountain where her introduction to the war really began. Where she'd met a strange woman who wasn't what the media wanted her to believe. It seemed, to her, a fitting place to make her first journey to her soul's homeworld, to the comet called Hyakutake.

She had to admit to herself that she was...well, very nervous. What would she find there? What ruins, what bones, what memories, perhaps? Hopefully...she didn't find anything too bad...

The tanned woman took a deep breath, hands clutching the fabric of her 'skirt' in her lap. She could do this.

"Hyakutake?" Kells called out as he drew near. Her aura gave away that she was here, but the page felt it was only polite to call out all the same - besides, she might be too wrapped up in her thoughts to sense him drawing close, and from what he could read of her body language and posture, that may very well have been the case.

"You called me, milady?" He asked softly, dipping into a bow once he drew close enough for polite conversation. "What is is you need?"

Hyakutake felt him before she heard him; that faint, bright aura that said he was a friend. She looked up to him and smiled, just the sight of him helping her to relax. "I did, dear knight." She stood, returning his bow with one of her own. "I...there is something I must do, and...I wanted you there with me. I know how to go to my homeworld, Kells. To the place my soul comes from."

It just made sense to her infatuated mind to take Kells. Especially since she couldn't bring Albert along as well...

"I would be glad to assist you with anything, milady," Kells said, reaching out to catch Hyakutake's hand and brush his lips across her knuckles. At her next words, however, he paused and raised an eyebrow, blinking. "To.... ah, the object that bears your name, then?"

The thought of going to another world was one that Kells was simultaneously fascinated by... and slightly terrified of. "And you're quite sure it will be a safe trip to take, Hyakutake? I wouldn't want you to risk yourself unnecessarily..."

His lips on her knuckles brought her to blushing, but she gave him a smile and a nod. "Yes. And I'm certain it will be safe. If anything...it may just be...barren, from what I read. But..." Her smile melted into a frown. "I have to go look, Kells. I have to see where my soul came from, and see if maybe...maybe I can do something for it. I had to be reborn for a reason. Not just to be the last person left to be, technically, of Hyakutake."

"I understand better than you may think," Kells said softly, adjusting his hold on her hand to hold it instead - a protective action, he told himself, not a flirtatious one. Young as senshi were, there was no way their little game could be more than what it was now. "And no, you should not have to go alone. There must be something... chilling... about visiting a world like that on your own. I'm more than happy to be company for such an undertaking."

"Thank you." She wrapped her free arm around him, taking comfort in his presence, the feel of another Order aura so near her own. "I've always been surrounded by life, so...I am unsure what it may feel like when I get there. But if I don't go...then my world may never again be itself. Whatever it was like. Or whatever it could be like. I just..." The exact words were hard to find.

Redbud-Tree
"All the more reason to go with company," Kells said softly. "Perhaps... I may even learn a thing or two from your world, empty though it may be." He smiled down at her, shifting to shelter her protectively under his arm. It felt... right, somehow. Perhaps because she was Order, as well? "After all, it is a rare thing indeed to be given the opportunity for magical space travel."

Hyakutake could help the giggle that escaped her, the statement putting a small smile back on her face. "Well, when you put it like that..." Another giggle. "It's part technology, too." She pulled out her senshi phone, the one Ash had given her when she Awakened. "There's an...app of sorts on here, that will help us get there."

Redbud-Tree
"Ah, I see. Magi tech , then. Fascinating." And why didn't his own group get something like that? It seemed much more useful than being sent out to... hit things. With books. "I don't suppose I could take a look at that device at some point, could I? Or perhaps a spare, if you should ever come across one?" He wanted to tinker with it - even now his fingers itched with the urge to take it apart and study its makeup, but he didn't dare do such a thing to an item that was currently in use!

Hyakutake looked thoughtful, then smiled. "How about I hook you up with the Guardian who gave it to me. She seems very technologically inclined. Perhaps she'd be able to answer things about it for you!" She gave him a quick squeeze around his waist, her mood improving by the moment. Even if her world was barren, she had company of the best sort, and perhaps...perhaps she could find a way to make it live.

Redbud-Tree
"Hm... I suppose that would do." He'd rather learn through his own experience, but alas, secondhand was sometimes necessary. "Thank you, Hyakutake." At the quick hug - for there was no denying that was exactly what it was, his face flared red and he pulled an arm up to shield the blush from being seen. "A-ah.... shall we go, then?"

Hyakutake nodded, raising a brow at him and her smile taking on a knowing tone. She wasn't oblivious. SHE KNEW WHAT HIS FACE WAS DOING. "Righty-o, Rudolph~." She had no issues teasing him, keeping her arm around him as she started going through the instructions she'd remembered for getting to her homeworld. It didn't take long, but it took her complete concentration and then...

They were there.

For a brief few seconds, her mind registered ruins and barely-alive greenery, and then something else replaced it entirely.

Lush greenery and buildings that were designed to both compliment and stand out against the nature around them. Tall people with slender figures and pointed ears and wide eyes dressed in what seemed to be silks and sheer fabrics and intricate pieces of jewelry, many of them with long hair. And the only true differences between the genders at times were the breasts on the women. Voices speaking in a language that was alien-yet-foreign to her ears. And a laugh escaping what felt like herself, followed by rapid-fire chatter to someone next to her. When she turned her head, it wasn't Kells there, it was a young man with features like those of the people around them, vibrant green eyes and skin the color of dark burnished wood and long hair colored like chestnut wood.

And then it was Kells again, and the ruins were back. And she could just stand there wide-eyed.

Redbud-Tree
Unlike Hyakutake, Kells' vision of the ruined and empty world wasn't replaced with an illusion of long ago. Instead, he simply saw what was - and that alone was enough to break his heart. Taking the senshi's hand when he saw how dazed she appeared, he patted it and tried to get her attention. "Hyakutake? Come now, you can't stay lost in your mind forever. Hyakutake, my dear, I don't love the sound of my own voice so much that I enjoy it being the only sound in this desolate place. Come back, please?"

She shook herself at Kells' voice, looking at him in surprise. "I think..." She looked around at the ruins, the low greenery that was fighting to come back to the world. "I think I saw what this place was like before...before whatever happened to us to make us be reborn on Earth." She took a deep breath. "This place used to be vibrant and lush and willows were everywhere. And the people themselves looked almost like trees. Dark-skinned and vibrant eyed and hair the colors of wood or flowers or leaves."

Redbud-Tree
"I see... perhaps you should write down, or try to draw what you've seen," Kells murmured thoughtfully. "A way to preserve what was lost, and to serve as a guide while you rebuild this world anew." Perhaps it was a bit optimistic to give her hope that she could bring life back to a world as dead and empty as this, but... well. If Hyakutake could do it, then perhaps his daughter's other home would have some hope, as well. (Just so long as Elpis remembered that she was his baby first, sole survivor of a lost world second!)

She nodded, trying to commit the vision to memory. "I think...next time, I'll bring a notebook with me. So I don't have to worry about forgetting anything between here and home." The senshi looked around, and moved over to one of the ruins, the unusable remains of a bridge that seemed to be made of some kind of stone similar in color to heated soapstone. "I wonder...how one goes about rebuilding..."

Redbud-Tree
"A notebook would be wise... do you suppose a camera would work here?" Kells followed Hyakutake to the ruined bridge and knelt down to sift carefully through the rubble. "If it would, I should think photographs would help you to remember the visions... as well as give you a guide for rebuilding, if you consider it."

"I...could try and bring a digital camera. Less likely to end up...well, falling into the wrong hands." She smiled sheepishly, running her hand over some of the smooth stone before moving to help Kells. "It would also be helpful to draw right on the photographs. See if I can at least doodle a gist of what I'm trying to rebuild it to..."

Redbud-Tree
"Just make certain to have extra copies, if you do," Kells murmured, scooping up a few pebbles and inspecting them individually. "Do you suppose this is analogous to rocks we have on earth? And you say there were willow trees... if they are the same, perhaps earthborn saplings would take root, given time and effort?"

"Maybe..." She picked up one of the rocks herself, examining it. "It reminds me of soapstone...but stronger." She turned it over in her hand, looking around. "I think...I think I might try bringing a sapling here once I know the water is safe." Speaking of water...she eyed what the bridge had originally gone over with suspicion. "We have no idea what's in there. And if it's safe for anything."

Redbud-Tree
"Then before you consider a sapling," the knight said, gently replacing all but one piece of the rubble, "Might I suggest bringing some glass vials and stoppers? I'm no ecologist, but I imagine taking samples is a good idea in this situation." The remaining piece he kept, clutched in his hand - a macabre little gravestone for a multitude of lives lost on a world that wasn't, and never had been, his own.

"That would be a good idea." She was thoughtful a moment, then looked sheepish. "I might know someone who would know how to get it tested. Discreetly." She hated using her mother's connections, but...this was for a good cause! "Maybe we'll get lucky and it's just like normal river water." She hoped it was. For so many reasons.

Redbud-Tree
"With any luck, it will be. Have there been others who have succeeded in bringing life back to their homeworld?" He held out the piece of rubble for her to take, if she wished. It was Hyakutake's by right, after all. No matter how curious he was, no matter how chilling it was to step foot on a dead world like this, anything belonged here was hers by right. "If so, you might ask for whatever information you can obtain. It may be somewhat individualized per world, but it would still give you a general guideline."

"I don't think anyone has succeeded yet." She took the stone, pain crossing her face. "I..." She took a deep breath, to steady herself. "I'm still going to try. To find a way." Hyakutake's pain mixed with determination and fire, a drive to push on, no matter what. "I wasn't reborn for nothing. I'll make sure of it."

Redbud-Tree
"In that case," Kells said, and took her hand in his, closing her palm around the stone and cradling her hand gently in his own. "You won't be doing it alone. I shall stand with you, and press on until something can be salvaged and remade. The world from your memories may be gone, but it will not be forgotten."

Hyakutake couldn't help the grateful look on her face. "Thank you. Just...thank you, Kells." She'd been right to bring him along. He was just...there were no words. He was kind and supportive and smart and just..."I'm glad I met you, and that you came here with me. I think...I think we might have a chance. Even if it's a small one, I'll take it." She would make her homeworld green and living again. Somehow.

Redbud-Tree
"A small chance is still a chance," the page said, warmth coloring his tone. "And.. ah, I'm glad I met you, as well." Was he blushing again? He was, wasn't he? Damn his inability to keep from getting flustered! "But for now, perhaps we should look around a bit more? It wouldn't hurt to take in a bit more of the scenery, such as it is. And you might find yourself with another vision, as well."

“Maybe.” His blush was contagious, her own cheeks darkening as she moved to stand. “That sounds like a wonderful idea. Best to explore what we can before we need to go back.” See what there was to see, what kind of work she had ahead of her. She’d seen a taste of what her world had been. She wasn’t going to let that vision stay in the past.
