Demadria stood just inside the entrance to the small cozy cave adjoined to her family's grotto. The few splashes of cool water that had been splashing down from the grey sky as she journeyed home from a gathering trip that morning had blossomed into a light shower that showed no signs of letting up any time soon. She had risen just before the sun to venture out into the forest surrounding the harpy's territory, she enjoyed watching the sunrise as she gathered ingredients for her dyes and she found the serene quiet before most of the flock began their day soothing.
The sky itself was a dull grey that seemed to suck the energy out of the small mare, she held it with a disapproving glare and then turned her back, dismissing the dismal weather with a flick of her tail. Her workshop, in contrast to the outside world was a riot of color and a chaos of cloth. Bolts of it were strewn over boulders to display and hanging from convenient outcroppings to dry. Colorless lengths of it were neatly folded in one corner, waiting for inspiration to strike. Baskets of bright, feathers, animal furs, shiny pebbles, even a few precious shells she had traded for were littered about, waiting to decorate her creations.
Demadria sighed as she took in the familiar sight with dull eyes, she was bored. Inspiration hadn't struck for quite some time and although normally she didn't mind having time to herself, the greyness of the day dragged at her mood and left her feeling lonely. For once, she wished she had a lover to snuggle up to on a gloomy day, Demadria was sure that would be how many of the other female members of her family would be occupying themselves, but she had never had a lover. Although the harpy males were almost all perfect gentleman, she hadn't spent much time with stallions her age since her early foal hood, before the males were separated. She knew males were delicate, they were flighty and emotional and needed to be kept in the safe zone under the watchful eyes of the elders and guards for their own protection, but she was much too shy to approach one so boldly in front of everyone. She had been taught the rudimentaries of stallion and mare relationships of course, she had no reason to feel the way she did, it was widely accepted, expected behavior even, but she hadn't worked up the courage yet.
Normally Demadria was much to busy with her work to worry about such things but idling about brought all these worries bubbling to the surface. She wondered if something was wrong with her, if she should be ashamed of her shyness.
Sighing again, Dema began to sort and organize her materials, figuring if she couldn't work, at least she could make it look less like a tornado had torn through her workspace.

Demadria bustled about the cave grumpily, she had banked the fire to embers before she left, not wanting to risk a blaze in her workroom while she was out. The many colors seemed washed out without any source of light and the familiar room was somewhat creepy in the chill darkness. Dema minced around busily placing folded cloth back onto convenient ledges in the rock, placing bobbins of yarn and thread back into their baskets, she knew she would feel better once her home was clean again. There was something so... stressful about the place when she had gone a long time without tidying, like an itch she couldn't scratch, but she had been so busy out and about enjoying the weather she hadn't wanted to take the time.
Finally giving into her grim mood, she placed some pinecones into the fire pit, watching them closely as they began to blacken and tongues of flame grew from the embers to taste the air, once she had a small blaze going with her tinder she placed a few twigs and branches, and then a log on as fuel. She sighed contentedly as the cave came alive again with a warm glow, feeling better viscerally as she went about her work.
There was a faint tapping, a claw against stone? Demadria whirled around in confusion, slightly startled that any of her sisters would be out and about in this mess. When she turned she saw one of the other harpys, a priestess, she remembered after a moment's thought. Familiar by sight although she couldn't recall ever meeting this mare in particular before, she was still quite young and still hadn't met many of the adult harpys outside of her family or the artisan's guild.
Demadria jumped a little as the priestess spoke, blushing at being caught off guard, but her smile of greeting was warm and genuine as she beheld the soaked mare. "Come in, and be welcome!" her eyes practically glowed with sudden excitement, the mare's coat was vividly hued, her feathers and accessories vibrant as well. Demadria's mind soared with the possibilities, her claws itching to experiment with dyes to make a red as rich as the harpy's mane or to find the right hues to exactly match her eyes.
"I am the weaver, you have the right home! My name is Demadria," she responded a bit nervously, cowed in spite of herself by this lovely stranger. "I have seen you about, but I'm afraid I can't recall your name," she admitted, sheepishly.
Dema stood transfixed for a full minute before remembering her manners and hastily snatching up a fluffy length of plain cloth for the mare, "Here, if you'd like to dry yourself you may use this." She winced, "I don't mind the water, but you must be freezing, I have a fire going if you'd like to come in and warm up while you tell me how I can help you." She stepped back, inviting the mare to step further into the cave.
