Prasiolite stood in the park, out of the way, least she be approached again by some of the shadier men and dumb little boys on the city. Yes her outfit was revealing, but Prasi felt it screamed I will castrate you as well. She rolled her eyes and grinned thinking of the last guy now slumped on the sidewalk a ways back. She'd punched in a rather unpleasant place, drained him and walked over him like it didn't happen.
She shook her head knowing that wasn't exactly the best way to go about things but also feeling a great deal of satisfaction.
Turning she headed off further into the park, brush in hand and despite it being her weapon and a better one than she had had before she used it to brush her hair, ever the vain one, old self forgotten and all. "At least I will make quota tonight. At least these jerks deserve it."

These days, Palatine took her patrols more seriously that she used to. Ever since New Year's, she'd had a reason to head out into the night and hunt down however many youma and Negaverse officers she could. She wanted vengeance, pure and simple. They may not have succeeded in killing her child, but they'd done more than enough to earn a mother's wrath.
She felt the aura of a Negaverse officer at the edge of her senses and followed it to the park.
Palatine came to a stop when she was in viewing distance, her face suffused with confusion.
“Do I know you?” she asked.

Prasi turned when she felt another approaching, someone she recognized from her earlier days as a knight. Another older knight who had attended the fiasco that was the training session they had been invited to once weekend.
She gave a short nod, "yes we met once. I was a different person then, but yes we met. I was Lyceum knight of Polaris, but since the first week in this year Ive been Prasiolite."
She crossed her hand over her chest and stood waiting, for what she wasn't entirely sure. She wasn't aware how many people knew memories were connected to choice, remembering meant choice. She knew that intimately now.
"I'm sorry its been a long time, so I do not recall your name."

Lyceum. Yes, she remembered the name. She wasn't completely sure she remembered exactly when she'd met the other knight, but she was certain she had.
“I'm Palatine,” she reintroduced herself.
The officer's words made one fact blatantly obvious. “The first week in this year.” New Year's. Palatine remembered what had happened over New Year's quite vividly. Hearing about it was still enough to get her blood boiling.
“What happened to you?” Palatine asked. She thought she already knew the answer.

"Prasiolite," she responded when Palatine reintroduced herself, "its a bit of a mouth full, but one gets use to it."
Prasi shifted slightly and sighed, "what happened ... I was kidnapped from the new years eve ball, held in a room chained to the floor, tortured and starved, but not by everyone. Most, not all. Some were teens, or barely adults, doing unspeakable things to others."
She shuddered the memories of being visciously kicked repeatedly and remaining anywhere from soaked to damp for the days she was a captive. "On January 6th I joined the negaverse. Thus far I live well enough. I do not think I will ever particulary agree with draining other's, but its a thing"
She looked curiously, "we're you not aware of what happened on new years. I know the other's were rescued, but I am not aware of what kind of an effort that was. I was already transported to the hospital by then."

“Of course I'm aware of what happened on New Years,” Palatine snapped unintentionally.
She paused to try and reign in her sudden show of temper. That wasn't like her at all, but New Year's was a delicate subject for her. If she'd been more aware of what was going on at the masquerade, or if she hadn't drunk quite as much, maybe she could have saved Paris and her kid never would have had to go through any of that.
It was just one more piece of guilt to add onto all the rest.
“My kid was there,” she admitted to explain her snappish attitude. “Tortured and starved like you said. We managed to get her and most of the others out. I'm not sure if it was all of them. I never heard all the captives names, and I was more concerned for my kid than I was anyone else, to be honest.”
Palatine stared at the agent warily then. “So did you join by force or by choice?”

Prasiolite frowned at the squire in front of her, "no need to get testy," she said in a somewhat bored tone. She wasn't trying to start a fight, not everyone was aware of what had happened or more so of what had gone on in the negaverses version of the house of horror. She felt slightly shame faced when Palatine mentioned her kid being in the fun house.
"I'm sorry that she got captured, but glad you got her out. Not everyone walked out of that place alive. I do not know most of who was captured, but I've heard some speak of some things."
She took a step back from the woman because she wasn't sure just how her answer would have the squire reacting. "It was a choice. I have my reasons, they are noble and they are my own. Despite what I went through, its for the best."
"Just so you know, memories and having them denote choice as far as I am aware. I don't remember everything, but if I was forced I would remember almost nothing."

If anything, being told not to get testy only made Palatine testier, though she did her best not to show it. She wasn't there to start a fight with the officer. As long as the officer made no moves against her or anyone else, Palatine was content to leave her well enough alone.
“There's no noble reason for joining the Negaverse,” Palatine said.
Of that she was sure. Unless this officer had plans of bringing the Negaverse down from the inside out—which Palatine was sure was not the case—there was absolutely nothing noble about the choice. More than likely, the choice had been made under duress. Palatine could feel pity for the officer if that was the case.
The information that was provided to her was useful, though, and Palatine filed it away with the rest of what she'd leaned about the Negaverse over the years.
“Unfortunately, that makes you my enemy now,” she said. “It doesn't matter to me who you used to be, or whether or not we knew one another at one point. If you joined of your own free will, you're my enemy.”

Prasiolite rolled her eyes at the squire, her assumption grating on her nerves. She knew not her reasons and yet, they were not noble. Prasiolite might have chosen the most unconventional way, never one to walk the trodden path, but she had the code in a heart and this way she felt was her Destiny.
Prasiolite turned, "you know what they say when you assume," she said before she started walking away.
"You are not my enemy. My joining of free will doesn't denote anything such thing. I willing gave up half my life, and walked into the arms of the enemy for a good reason. I do not know who I was, but I do know that I simply do not have time for assumptious stupidity."
She shook her head and continued on her way, giving the woman a flippant wave as she walked.

Palatine rolled her eyes right back and made no move to follow after the officer.
“Assumptions are all I've got to go on when you insist on being vague,” she said to the officer's back.
A part of her didn't care what the other's reasons had been. The fact that she'd gone willingly set Palatine's nerves on edge. Certainly whatever her reason had been as a knight was distorted now that she'd given herself to Chaos. Either way, there was nothing honorable about joining the enemy, of that she was sure.
“See you around,” Palatine added, returning the flippant wave but remaining where she was.
She wasn't about to turn her back while the enemy was still close enough to attack.
